Not a lot of material there since in 0 Kurisu is mostly gone and in the movie Okabe is mostly gone :C But I die every time I see their kiss in the movie, so why are you even asking?! :D
@@TristXD Actually, Steins;Gate 0 *happened* "before" Steins;Gate. It's the "original" Okabe's route to find out how to save Kurisu and prevent WWIII (Beta worldline leads to that, unlike Alpha, where SERN dystopia and Mayuri's death happen) to ocurr, sending the message to his past-self (Steins;Gate's Beta Okabe) on the Radio building after failing to save Kurisu with the time machine. Please correct me if I'm wrong
Ezio Auditore - Zero is just an alternate future which affects how Okabe found the Steins;Gate, basically. Okabe giving up on first try is a “convergence point” (an unchangeable happenstance without anyone from the future to alternate it). Since (spoiler alert) Future Mayuri and Suzuha came back from the point where Okabe was just about to go back (which showed 2 time machines, but Okabe’s had to delay for a moment and wait for the other time machine to disappear to avoid a Paradox), Mayuri had already altered the past which is now the happening of Steins;Gate being found by Okabe, Long story short: Season 1 has a future alternation that wasn’t shown, so Season 2 was just the gist of it while introducing potential story-affecting characters which is possible for a season 3 idk maybe?
I doubt there'll be a season 3, there is no new S;G Visual Novel yet, though they're producing other VNs like Robotic;notes, and Daru's in it actually. Though there's talk around saying that there will be a crossover event with Steins;gate, Chaos;head/child, and Robotic;notes, we'll see where that goes though
@@theoneaboveall1873 i didn't say 100% tho... but yea... the very little romance elements in it.. they are so goooood!! Better than most of the "100%" romance animes out there.
The three Viewer-Phases of Steins;Gate: 1. You dont know anything and you dont understand anything, but its somewhat funny 2. You start to understand and a lot of action and problem solving is thrown at you 3. Your emotions get completely destroyed and you are crying in front of whatever you are watching the anime on
it's funny, I rewatched the show with a friend who has never seen it before. And they went through the exact same phases you described. Wanted to punch Okabe in the face at the start, cried their eyes out after what the went through in the second half :D
The fact that okabe makes it a point to call her Kurisu at least once every time he time leaps because she sounded sad to not remember him calling her Kurisu is just
@@SorchaSublime The way she says It - intonation - the Second time compared to the First time does sound like she vaguely remembers It and is even hinting at that. I'm pretty sure it's implied indeed. It's also as If she was asking him to do It again so her past self IS sure It wasn't Just a déjà vu
18:40 Honestly, I always saw this moment as the most tragic fated "checkmate," in the series. After all of the suffering Okabe went through; All the times he's had to watch Mayuri die, the amount of dreams he's had to crush for her life, his constant feeling of despair; He finally finds a way out of this depressing cycle with the help of Kurisu. Then, at the very end of it all, he comes to the horrifying revelation that IF he goes back then Kurisu; The one he's spent so much time with and starting to love; must die. Kurisu either takes Mayuri's place in death or Mayuri takes Kurisu's place. It's as if time itself just checkmated Okabe in this moment.
And the anime did an amazing job delivering that moment. With the breakneck pace of everything that's happening to Okabe and Kurisu's "death" barely having been mentioned again since the first two episodes, they made sure that the viewers forgot about that bloodbath even happening, or at least didn't have it in the front of their memory. As soon as Okabe does that sakuga-headspin and Gate of Steiner kicks in, the memories start flooding back. I think most first-time viewers felt exactly the same as Okabe did in that moment, a "how could I forget this?!" followed by the most desperate "oh shit, not her...". The audience gets checkmated right along with him, fools for expecting a happy ending after all that suffering, with the truth being under their noses the whole time. (Playing the VN currently and I'm curious how it will play out there, since until now they've mentioned Kurisu's stabbing a lot more.)
Yeah first time watched i got distracted by all these "saving mayuri" event, until this scene happened, all the joy suddenly blown away because u remembered that makise dies in beta timeline.
Yeah, that was shocking. If it was me, I'd had stopped pushing forward with that plan of saving Mayuri. Instead, I'd share that information and had a good time with her until her literal deadline, then I'd cry for my dear friend and keep living with the rest of the crew. Why? because there was not enough information to conclude as a fact that returning to the other timeline would guarantee Mayuri's lifespan, and if you lose Kurisu then there's no more time leap for you, unless you've memorized that machine's blueprint or all the theory
18:36 The way this scene transitions from just a wholesome conversation to the most terrifying, dreadful realization makes S;G so high in quality. I remember having chills the first time I saw this, and I still do now. Wish I can experience this show for the first time again :")
@@ayeronical i respect and love kaguya sama anime but speaking truthfully *Steins,Gate is hella better than that anime in which a two lovers cant express their love* Ik steins gate isnt romantic anime but then also...
@@zokam7792 Steins;Gate has the best love story period. By far. I don’t ever take part in the whole Waifu war thing, or argue for best girl. But Steins;Gate is the exclusion to that. Kurisu is by far the best love interest I’ve ever seen in media. She’s just such a well developed character, and she and Okabe are just perfect together.
The moment when she takes his hand (11:20) is one of the most sensual goddamn things I've ever seen. I think this anime does romance right because it builds the sexual/romantic tension to an absolute max, giving the audience the bare minimum of romantic looks and gestures until they start stacking up. Before you know it, you get to THIS MOMENT and you are absolutely blown backwards wondering "why am I so overwhelmed by this touch? Why is this so intense, they're just holding hands??" The thing is: they aren't. At this point it's so much more than that. It's all the things unsaid between them. All the days they've gotten to know each other. All the distance between them suddenly closing. It's falling in love done right and it's goddamn peak. If you would've told me I'd find one of the best romances in a sci-fi time-travel suspense-thriller anime I would've laughed it off. But now I know this theme is the core of the story, not the science. It's a subtle love story with a science backdrop and I think that's truly amazing.
17:09 kurisu says, " Whatever world line you're on, you aren't alone. I'm here for you!" then Steins;Gate 0 says no and gives you Amadeus, i mean yea, she is there but not physically :(
If you listen to Kurisu monologue from alpha worldline in S;G 0 when she have to send Okabe back. She said she’ll be there for him, no matter what form of existence that might be. (or something of that nature) So she is still with him, but Okabe 0 is haunted by the fact he sacrificed her and murdered her, that’s why he was avoiding Amadeus at first.
Same feelings. I had to watch episodes every other three days because I feel hurt knowing that every episode I watch is a step closer to its end. I just can't accept finishing this show. But I of course did, and I'm glad. Probably my favorite anime, or tied with AOT.
Having to choose between the girl he swore to protect and the girl he’s in love with was too impossible for okabe. So kurisu made the decision for him and chose to sacrifice her life for Mayuri. That’s the world Okabe desperately tries to protect in S:G0 tho he himself never gets over Kurisu. This ship is peak romance and it’s not even a romance anime 😭
It is interesting to hear the song "Farewell" when kurisu and okabe finally found each other. Maybe the writers did that on purpose. However the VN chose to play "Believe Me" during the ending, and I think that song suited better for this ending
It's probably a bit of meta, like it's the last scene of the show so it's a "Farewell" to the show. Or it's a callback to the last scene in the alpha worldline. I do like it though. I've been hardwired to cry whenever "Farewell" plays and now it's a happy cry instead of sad.
@@Moggetslittlesister Ironically, this theme is kinda suzuha's theme. Remember suzuha's letter?? This song played there, a very emotional scene. That is why I couldnt understand it but I am not complaining since this song is awesome
@@ihsanicer3059 omg, finally someone who feels the same way I do! Farewell was playing in the ‘I failed’ letter scene, and in Suzuha’s flashback scene so it kinda felt out of place when ‘suzuha’s theme’ was playing at the end when okabe and kurisu are rejoined.
Even though I’ve seen everything Steins Gate related. I feel like this 30min episode of their relationship can do just as good a job as the anime did to explain to a new viewer just how good this anime really is.
Watch this part 9:52 22:42 .... This anime doesn't even have the Romance tag in it (I guess).. but still the romance element here is far far better than any other animes I've ever seen ngl..
18:36 has to be one of the best shocking scenes in the history of anime. It's so painful and the realisation that only one can survive really hits different 💔
How nostalgic. It's been 9 years. I REALLY, REALLY LOVE this series and the movie. I just won't get enough of it nor get tired of it. It really gives me a nostalgia when watching it and feel a bit sad when finished because of the feeling that you'll have to say good bye to these characters and the series itself T^T No matter how much I re-watch this, it's still gives the same feelings to my heart.
@@user-iu2zo7hu7f Death note. Okabe's VA also did Light. And this meme was popular at the time of the writing of SG on JP web channels. It's when Light sees how stupid and rash Misa is at their meeting and thinks he has to do something about it'
What i love about this anime is: the main sci-fi plot and the underlying romantic tension are inseparably intertwined. This makes me recall all the feelings I felt during the climax. I remember binge watching this during a summer break. That's what really got me into anime.
What do you mean, existential dread about one's god-like influence on trading a life for a life is so adorable for SteinsGate-standards! What gets a crushing couple closer than the fear of death? ^o^
I get chills whenever I think about steins gate, I wish I could go back in time and watch it over and over again, Forget that I ever watched it and watch it over and over again in a loop
This one vid convinced me to watch Steins;Gate about a year ago, and i can honestly say it was one of the greatest viewing experiences i've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Many thanks bro👊👊
This anime almost made me cry, and i almost never cry ever, so this anime is really special to me. I'd recommend for anyone to watch. The story, characters, interactions, pacing, it is really good. And their relationship is somehow so special to me, but i can't quite put my finger on it as to why.
You're a true hero to shippers 😍😍 I would've also kept in the little tidbits of Kurisu tying Okabe's tie, the hankerchief thing, and Kurisu on edge during Okabe and Luka's date in episode 18
My first anime of my anime-lover career was AoT, a lot of years ago. I’ve watched tons of anime, but never found someone that could bring the 1st place in my heart that was taken by AoT. Then I’ve watched Steins;Gate and damn, it was a thunder in the blue sky…. Then I’ve played the VN and my love went even bigger. I’ve played the S;G0 VN right after the original, before watching the anime and I can say that this is the best series I’ve ever watched in my life, not only anime related. I can’t say which is better between Okabe and Kurisu, they are the most genuine characters. Anyway, thank you for your amazing video, it was a pleasure to revive Okabe and Kurisu’s love story ❤️
Steins Gate taught me that time travel can be cruel and hence I wouldn't wanna try that. It really did a number on me. I was just constantly looking through all the theories on time travel after watching this series
I love the the way light is portrayed in Steins;Gate. It’s always either too bright or too dark. Somehow adds a level of intimacy to the whole show, like the only people in the entire world are the cast of characters we’re following. That’s a trait I think a lot of the best conspiracy fiction has. Especially love the hazy, sun-scorched background of the outside. Again, just seems to contribute a level of surreality and otherworldliness.
9:28 This scene is among my favorite scenes of them I wish people would talk more about it. Idk it's just perfect the way they get embarrassed and stutter and try to fight it off (˘̩̩̩^˘̩̩̩ƪ) totally gave ne butterflies something I rarely or more like never really get with romance anime
One thing I like about these two over a lot of other anime couples is that they actually feel like equals. He teases her and is sometimes a bit of an asshole, but it doesn't bother me much because she's more than capable of throwing it right back at him. She's not afraid to call him out or put him in his place if necessary, lol. But she's also not as over the top mean or emotionally stunted like some tsundere type characters.
There is literaly 30 mins total of romance in this series yet i have never seen any romance like it, stains gate not being even a romance based anime made the feeling of true love better than any 5 season show
As someone who already watch this anime, it's still refreshing to see the relationship of this two. Still one of the best anime that i stumble and watch and gonna re-watch it again.
Man, I loved this show when I watched it the first few time. Now, *I LOVE* this show. I first watched this show nearly 8 years ago and it's only continued to grow on me. Damn. What a show.
1:22 I honestly like the phrasing of the dub far better. Instead of saying "I'll just say this: you're an important ally", the dub says "For what it's worth, I cherish our friendship", and that just hits, man
