This is probably my favourite 'Let's Play' of Stellaris so far. You're extremely methodical in how you proceed through the game, but do not over-think situations or rush around and miss things. Really looking forward to watching the rest of this campaign, and can't wait to get the game tomorrow (Monday the 9th).

I'm glad I found this Lp!. This is a great start. :) You should also change the planet names to Roman names when you start conquering.

i've never seen such deep space-colonising build-your-empire-in-space strategy with that level of visual details. First encounter with alien life, first colony, first agreement with xenos... Oh i am so excited! Don't stop this series, prove virtue of the Roman Empire on a space scale!

I've been interested in this game since i heard about it, this is the first gameplay I have sat down and watched thanks to this being my favourite total war channel. Keep them coming, I do enjoy let's plays. I've noticed you maintain a good pace while playing and are always moving forward while commentating, perhaps streaming has helped you learn. It shows, you have higher quality videos and I look forward to watching your professional let's plays.

Does anybody else feel a bit bad for the devs of other 4X titles coming out? Paradox have gone and raised the bar something fierce with this game. The only thing I can think of that I'd like to see would be a GalCiv2 style ship editor for completely custom ships. Please do continue this LP, Darren. As much as I enjoy watching the Blorg streams, it's nice sometimes not to hear the word 'friend' quite so often :D

for a more milkyway like galaxy, you pick 2 arms not because the milkyway only has 2 arms (it has 4+) but because the center of the milkyway isn't a circle, it's a ''bar'' which in this game is only generated on the 2 spiral arm maps.

One thing about influence that many people don't know is that frontier outposts drain your influence, when you place one it costs 200 (most people already know this) but it will drain your influence monthly gain by 1. once you have a colony in a system that has a frontier outpost the outpost is no longer needed because the planet itself will generate your borders, so when you colonize a planet inside a frontier outposts range "dispan" the frontier outpost and you will get back your monthly influence.

Paradox continues to impress me with their good games and I hope to get this game soon.

I was looking for a Stellaris Let's Play and i end up here,nice to meet you sir, i subscribed to acompany you campaign. A sugestion for your fist colony : Soror Gemina,twin Sister in Latin,its a fertile continental world like Terra so there you go :3

The games greatest strength is the fact you can role play like hell with so many little details. I am playing a game as Mollusks (randomed) fanatically xenophobic materialists with warp engines and missiles, direct democracy which i upgraded to subconscious consensus. So far I have purged weaker species and vasseled the stronger ones with biome's i could not inhabit only 3 remain and my people aggressively study every primitive xeno they can find. So far only two fallen empires found and both are fanatically xenophobic fortifying my peoples outlook of their species vs all. So far I am actually scared since well I have no factions my people are happy and my fleets surpass all, I am waiting for the other boot to drop. But my tech is ahead my fleets are balanced and larger rarely losing ships in expeditions and my population is the largest with the most systems owned inhabited even terraformed about 10 worlds. I am about to with my vassals overthrow a fallen empire and take their lush lands. My people are happy and civil and celebrate the purity of their species but are so xenophobic we do not even get close to the aliens we have our droids do that often looking down a rifle or bombarding from orbit. If you surrender we vassal you but if you are insignificant or resist greatly we purge you for you would do the same to us. We also after decades of studying innumerable xenos we have found the secrets of synthetic thought programming which lead to even further advancements of the mind being able to assert our will in the xeno mind. While we would never dream of such things being done to our people we will happily do what we must to the xeno to safeguard our own and guarantee our survival. Behind the eyes of a xeno is a mystery so we found out how to place there what suits us. So far i am 160 years into space and the role playing is the best. No crisis yet but to be fair i have been suppressing the galaxy at large so it explains to a point.

Great video man. I've had the same Idea since I first saw the trailer of the game. Awesome! Though I would have called it "Imperium Romanum" to be more latin and maybe change the species from Humans to Homo sapiens :D Oh and logically the first colony, probably on Alpha Centauri should be named Terra Nova.

Remember to colonise as much as possible. Rivalling factions is only gangrenous when they have a significantly larger fleet then you.

All right, Darren, don't forget: science is crucial, diplomacy is potentially extremely important, and wars are almost pointless before you can land armies. terra is correct in Latin. If you have questions ask. Scipio, Quintus, sextus, primus, Vecellium, Caligula, catullus, livius

I find one good way to get influence is to just vassilize factions. They give you one extra influence for every vassal which does add up if your going around wiping out 'pathetic' factions with one 8k stack.

Check the little box in the bottom right so the detailed information is always showing please!

Funny, Rita Rossi and Carmela Marcuzzi are actually italian names. Can't believe they were replaced with latin-ish ones xD I believe that Earth (Terra in Italian) is probably Orbs in latin (in fact late roman emperors were given the title of "restitutor orbis"). I know that if you wanted to, you could mod in a Roman name list that the game will use. I don't know where it is in the files, but there is information about it on the Paradox forums, even a tool to help create it. Although, I don't know if you can swap your current name list for a new one.

Jupiter's Red Spot is set to disappear within a generation. Probably around 2030, as the storm slows down.

possible Renames for research ship(if you want to): Apollo, Minerva, or Providentia (goddess). Also the Romans would name their ships after their Gods and Goddesses, geographical maritime features like Rhenus or Oceanus, concepts such as harmony, loyalty, victory, or after important events like "Dacia"(I got this from Wikipedia) Really enjoying this series so far.
