In interviews, Emmy Award-winning host and producer Geoffrey Notkin said that out of all the television he's done, this is one of his favorites. With "punk rock" honey ants, a visit to a remote desert termite colony, and a heart-pounding stroll through 35 active hives at ASU's bee lab, there's plenty of bug action ... and, of course, when talking about the hive mentality, Geoffrey just cannot avoid making a "Star Trek" reference (including a look at his Borg suit).

In his life as a public speaker, Geoffrey frequently tells a story about how episode director David Routt, tricked him into revelaing that he is freaked out by bees. Routt then created this episode specially to see his host in one terrifying situation after another.
