My stencil builder just arrived yesterday! No time to use it yet, but I like seeing how you tried it out, and that you used only a few of the curving black dots on one card! That’s a neat design! TY for sharing, Ardyth!
Great review! Loved that you went over the pros and cons. That helps me to decide if this is something I’d want to purchase or not. Appreciate this video!
I love you comparing and combining these two products, I love my wreath builder so Gina K's stencil builder has been easy for me to use and my crafting area is smaller so easy to store. I am intrigued by the card where you used stencils from both products, was beautiful
LOL! No splatters - just shimmer spray. It often doesn't come out evenly, so it definitely can have the look of splatters. Thanks so much for watching!
Gorgeous cards 🥰!! I love how you used both products separately then together. I’m definitely interested in the stencil 360. It seems like a very versatile tool! Thank you again for a wonderful video!! 😊
I bought the Stencils 360 after the last card maker conference with the discount Penguin Palace gave us. I haven't used it yet, though. I need to watch more of your videos on it to get comfortable with it. I love your color combo and glad to see you use black. I will have to get some of that black. Thank you for your video, Ardyth!
The Stencils 360 definitely comes with a lot of pieces and can feel overwhelming the first time. Try this video for how to get past that and on to the good stuff! lol! ru-vid.com/group/PLGLSuElJ3ywhqO_gffEQzMoA1Z3tYRdmj&si=g_4l4TjHd1g9Yi39 Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for showing this with the Stencil 360! I'm doubtful I'll buy another stencil "tool" at this stage in the game. Quite some time ago, I bought Gina's wreath builder but I only used it a couple of times and now that there's the Stamp and Spin I have no need for it. I'm afraid that's what would happen here also. I think I could also figure out a way to use my StampWheel to align my stencils in the same manner if I was so inclined. So many tools, so little time.
Excellent video. I didn’t figure out that we could have been “stencil building” all along by die cutting shapes in a square piece of paper until after I bought one of Gina K’s new stencils. My hope is that she will release stencil blanks that die cut easily. Unfortunately most blank stenciling plastics are either too thick or too brittle for manual die cutting machines. Another wish is that Gina K Designs will release a die that cuts out the 8 point star template shape so we could just cut paper for making temporary stencils. I love the ease and affordability of the wreath builder templates. 15$ is so much better than all of the $50+ options. My fear is that the idea is to release a bunch of 8 point star stencils with a variety of differently shaped holes. This would be fun too, but it significantly increases the price. I would love an option that encourages us to use the supplies we already have. Right now we can layer our stencils (and stamps!) with the the larger teardrop and pointed oval templates. I don’t think the dotted swirl and ray templates have openings that allow for stencil layering. The option we have currently is to use a square piece of paper and then do the math so that our holes work within the wreath builder templates. It might be easier to use 2 squares. But I cannot see most crafters doing this as so many people are math adverse. I also have an inkling that combining the stencil builder with stamping using either Altenew’s Stamp Wheel or Sizzix’s Stamp and Spin will be fun. I like spinning the stamping block more than spinning the paper.
I've done that - combined Stencils 360 with StampWheel and it's super fun (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qeqsaYz30z8.htmlsi=m0Ir6clNow3becNx) ! I've also created my own temporary stencils (same video) with cardstock - this can easily be adapted for Stencil Builder. That's a lot of good feedback - I hope Gina will see it! Thanks for watching!
I absolutely love the patterns and cards you make with the 360. You are the GOAT with that tool! I just don’t think I have your gift of creativity and I think it would be wasted on me, but I’m so glad to watch you with it. You are truly inspirational. Thanks for sharing your talents and insights on these two tools.
I have the stencil 360 tool and since I've watched so many of your videos/tutorials, I'm getting pretty good at it. I don't feel the need to get the stencil builder, though I do have the wreath builder and feel like I could use that tool in a similar way with stencils. Thanks for the overview of the tool!
You have the right idea, I'm just not sure the hole in the wreath builder is big enough, oh but the large one would work! You're so clever! Thanks for watching!
I have the regular 360 stencil tool. You’re supposed to be able to use other stingily but I have a really hard time with them. I don’t like having to use only the penguin palace stencils.
I hear what you're saying. It's not really about 'just Penguin Palace' circular stencils, it's about stencils that will make a pleasing design when you turn them (and now GinaK's will work with the tool too!). You can turn any 6" square stencil with the paper guide (the clear one I used in this video) but not all of them will look good if you turn them. Here's a video where I looked at this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iPZnyv0NO_c.htmlsi=RnU3o2DsetPLUOSe Hope it's helpful! Thanks for watching!
When Jennifer McGuire debuted this on her channel, that was my comment, oh its like the stencil 360. I feel like Gina's may be easier if perfection is your goal, but the 360 seems more versatile. Oh well my opinion, your cards came out beautiful! I love the black overlay!
I'm going to try the stampwheel for this also, as i have the stamp 360 and have never used it. If it works well with the stampwheel I can give the 360 to a friend.
Hi Ardyth, thanks for the comparison. Could you turn the wreath builder base frame 10° or 20° or 30° and then get however many petals you want in between the standard eight?
Yes. If you have a way to measure the degrees and keep the centre in the centre. That is an interesting idea - I'll give that some thought! Thanks for sharing (and watching)!
I appreciate the comparison. I have none of these tools, in part because I find some to be intimidating-so many options! So the Stencil Builder appeals to me for its ease of use. But you’re so great at building these kinds of patterns, I can totally see how the Stencils 360 suits you better.
I think I still like the friends edition of the 360 from what Ive seen. Not to say I could use any of them, but I like options. I wonder if there will be any way the stamp and spin will come up with a stencil turning jig of some kind so you can use that tool for everything ?
@@ardyth so you feel that those 2 together is perhaps your favorite? Or you like having all because of the wider variety of options it gives you since you do this technique so often? I know for someone like me, I’d never get enough use out of more than one. But I’m curious if one is enough for you if you had to choose one. I don’t think so because you are exceptionally talented at this .
