This patient underwent lacrimal surgery because he had tearing from a clogged tear drain.
There is one tear drain located in the inner corner of each eyelid. The upper and lower tear drains on each side connect to each other and become one drain as they travel through and empty into the nose.
I perform surgery to fix clogged tear drains whether the problem is located at the level of the eyelid or within the nose.
I don't make external incisions when the problem is located in the nose. I use an endoscope also known as endoscopic surgery or endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy and work within the nose in order to fix the issue.
Many kinds of tear drain stents are placed to help the healing and in this video I'm showing you removal of one kind.
Stent removal occurs several weeks after surgery and it's relatively comfortable as you can see here.
