In this video, we detail the process for installing headers. We are getting ready to install water barrier and roof. Lots of painting this month. We went through 20 gallons of Ultra White paint for all roof trusses and 40 plus 2x4 boards at 16 lengths, plus many header boards. After doing some research for best color, we found that painting roof supports a bright white helps with reflection and lighting needed for growing produce.

Thank you very much. We got slide-lined this summer and fall and fell behind on our project. Dealing with family emergency stuff. I'm going to try and post an update when I get caught up on other things.

It was a pleasure meeting you. Stay tuned, and we will post what we are doing with all that insulation we bought. Check out our video on the chicken coop we made. The run now opens into our cow pastures so chickens are always out in the field during the day. Cheers, Jim and Kim

And aircrete finish would be great insulation and sub wall to attach any finish
@montanalivinginthebigskyco8541
Thank you for your comment. This is a very good suggestion if you don't mind using concrete in your build. The big advantages to aircrete are strength and that it is inexpensive over total concrete. Except for the cold storage building, we opted to stay away from concrete to avoid leaching.

@@montanalivinginthebigskyco8541 have you thought about adobe or cob finish? Or foam insulation? Most I’ve seen online is left exposed as is.
@montanalivinginthebigskyco8541
@@brandon6348 Hi Brandon. We didn't consider abode finish but we did visit a MT greenhouse that did apply that technique, successfully. For us: there is another video I will be posting on insulation and finishing before we backfill the hole with dirt. We have one wall finished before all the snow and subzero weather hit us. The last video we posted was on installing pond liner. This is the first layer on the outside of the gabion walls. Up against that liner are two layers of 2" rigid foam board insulation for a total of 4 inches thick. On top of the insulation is filter cloth. On top that is 6 mil visqueen plastic sheeting. So outside of gabion basket wall is: pond liner + 4" foam board + filter clothe canvas + visqueen. Cheers, J&K
