Did I hear you say the next episode is the last installment? If so, please reconsider /DRIVE... We want this to continue on a regular basis. It is far more engaging than unattainable high end cars that we can see on any channel out there.
It may simply be that he hasn't got the money or anything else to upload beyond that, I doubt it's Drive's fault. And I don't think Ryan would want too much of a handout either.
trefod I would imagine they paid him for the series, but let's not forget, the guy is still in education, and it is probably best for him to complete that before taking any major steps forward, just in case. :)
Yeah, this episode was advertised as a 'mini series'... so with that it was written out, and pitched to JF as five episodes. But you get six! Yay! I hope there will be more to come for me in the future... For now the series is finished with the sixth episode until I finish school.
Dear /Drive, you better give this kid another season, maybe even pinch in a little extra bonus to work on his car some more. This is great on so many levels. Best of all to show how great the "regular Joe" racing community is, and give it really great promotion. We need growth in this sport, and this is how to do it. So keep it up!
This has been my favorite series on the /Drive channel. Hope Ryan gets another series. I look forward to sitting down a Saturday night with a beer and watching these.
I was watching this a year ago and left off as you went to New Zealand glad that year later I run into it again and get to watch it entirely. What a amazing opportunity. Keep it up this went from average to just uniquely special.
This is one of the best series out there full stop. There are two highlights on a Sunday, Top Gear and Ryan's series. Give this guy a full time job and keep those episodes coming!
Just found this series. Awesome! Very inspiring. I'm taking my son to a rally cross event in April. He's 16 now and would love to see him get involved. Thanks for all of your efforts to make this and document your adventures. Brought back many memories of hauling ass around the logging roads in central Oregon in my old Toyota Corolla SR5 hatch.
As a fellow Autocrosser, I agree that you are focusing on the cones from your skiing background. In the New York race you were understeering and going wide in the corners. Im thinking that with focus on steering the car using off-throttle turn in and aiming fro just behind the cones you will start greatly improving. Excellent series and good luck!
Ryan Symancek :OOO Ryan replied to me! :D Do you have a twitter or facebook that you announce what rally-x events youre going to be at? I'm from the catskills and would love to head out to a rally-x either to compete or just to watch, hang out, have fun. P.S. Love the show, very well done. Subaru for life!
Great show, I really enjoy this series! I wouldn't try and push the comic relief, it's funnier when it happens naturally. And Thanks for showing a little humility, it's rare in this world. If you ever need a pit crew in California, give me a holler
Well, hitting cones can end your day too. I was up at Team O'Neil's rally school about a week ago and a friend of mine went wide during an accident avoidance maneuver (moose test), took out a cone, and it split a hose and damaged his oil cooler
The best episode so far genuinely funny, exciting and which is most important for a video, it generates emotions. I know that the next episode is already finished, but maybe, you could write in the info part of this video, what parts of the car were damaged. I wish we had events like that in Germany. Grass roots motorsports for normal guys, with normal cars, without any requirements other than car, driving license+insurance. I just hope this series generates enough clicks (sadly its not that successfull looking at the click numbers) and/or sponsors to continue this series. If I were the boss in Subarus marketing division, I would give drive 1000$ for each new Episode of this series, as long as he drives a subaru, there is no better marketing.
Loving this kind of series. Grassroots RallyCross! Respect to Ryan Symancek and Broken Motorsports peeps for their work on this stock bug eye imprezza! i know you'll improve man..
This series has inspired me to start rallying I currently am in search of any subie 1998 and up I live in central new jersey and my budget for the total build is around 3000 the videos are awesome keep it up !
I paid 3k dollars for a 2003 WRX wagon, after $1k worth of paint and a little manual labor I sold it 4 months later for $9k. I've bought and sold many used cars and the only other car I think can hold its value as well as a WRX is a Jeep Wrangler.
Love the show! Loved the New Zealand tour, a bit too much camerashake, but as you've said, it's a one man show and therefore the shots are very good. I wish you a good cameraman, cause the show is really worth seeing!!
Ignore haters and naysayers - this show is awesome and very entertaining. I wish everyone getting into the sport best of luck and I hope one day I can join you folks too
Hence is the way for a lot of RallyX efforts. Honestly, for RallyX and beginning stage rally, an NA engine is better/faster. He did it right to start off with, and the issues he ran into are typical.
dowroa Absolutely, while Turbo cars are also really fun in RallyCross (what isn't?!), NA cars often perform better because the RallyCross courses tend to be extremely tight and technical. It's not uncommon for NA 2.2 Imprezas to beat WRXs and Evos at my SCCA Region's events! But, out at the National Championships (held in Tulsa, OK the past few years), the courses are much more "open" and the same NA 2.2 would be struggling to keep up.
"And even sometimes I get the occasional wave from someone who thinks its JDM as F***." God dam I got a good laugh there. Ryan, don't stop what you're doing. This is great.
upgrade the rear s/bar+remove or downgrade the front s/bar to dial out that insane understeer. try to get some negative camber on the front wheels and some additional caster angle. if caster is not adjustable, try lowering the rear in ralation to the front, that has a useable effect on caster angle. And set the steering for toe-out for easier turn-in. that'll make this pig turn a lot better.
Another great episode. If you want to take some extra unneeded weight out. Remove the rear seats AND the sound proofing. Seats weigh a ton and you can really feel that they aren't there when you've taken them out. Also, if you just take out the soundproofing in the engine bay, you will at least make you'r car sound a bit louder, even if you can't tell the difference in weight removed
Damn cool series! Share similar dreams to be a rallycross driver, so to see you go towards your goal on a budget is really inspiring to me! Might need to try and get a car to drive myself
hope it comes a secend series of this after it is finish:)when u maybe start to uppgrade the car and do more racings and maybe train on track with a instructor and stuff:)
