During the second semester vacation of my second year undergraduate studies, I did an internship at one local hospital. I was a nutrition intern. On my first day I observed closely how things were done - good thing I did. On just my second day, I was assigned to counsel an expectant mother because she could not speak any language apart from Ewe. Apparently, she had been to hospitals before and no one could understand her. That encounter sparked an interest in public health nutrition and nutrition education, particularly regarding vulnerable populations.
