@@penske_material i cant remember the whole thing..but i do remember they had her face on the news beat up. After that Sasha Mitchells career went to shit
@@Robd07 well, back then I was too young and knew nothing, I just knew he wasn't in the show anymore and was a bit disappointed but accepted it lol. The little I read online is that eventually he won custody of their children cuz she was in drugs and lied about his abuses.
Sasha Mitchell was such an under rated martial artist. The guy really has incredible skill and his technique is so fast and smooth. Especially for a larger guy
The fact that he played a funny cool, surfer, dude type in Step by Step makes us forget that Sasha Mitchell was in martial arts action movies. He was even doing the Kickboxer sequels while Step by Step was still on air.
Back when Sasha Mitchell joined the cast of Step By Step, I always wondered if he was still a practicing martial artist. When I saw this episode on TGIF, my question was answered spectacularly 😎
In one of the earlier seasons he showed it off, when Dana went to a rough bar to see her favorite singer. It was played off he didn't realize that he knew martial arts.
Cody is the cousin/uncle that everyone gets along w he always makes sure everyone in his family is cared for especially the ones who are more than what the seem
I always loved Cody, and his cool, surfer-dude ways. Nothing bothered him, he was so chill. The only times he wasn't goofy were in situations like this, where he was in complete control: this scene, the episode where he saves Dana from sexual assault, protects Karen from ridicule and the scene in the bar when saving Dana. That is what I loved.
I’ve been teaching kids martial arts since the 90’s, this clip is one of the reason I teach. Protect your students, also be a cool to them, it’s tough when any of them compete, make sure they feel seen and heard.
Sasha is a black belt in tae kwon do, Sasha was once an amateur kickboxing champion, and it helped him land the role of a boxer in 1988's Spike of Bensonhurst (1988)
Right on this was a great fucking show my favorite of the tgi Friday night family shows Full house and boy meets world were up on my list but step by step definitely takes the crown for me like you said so many childhood memories with these shows
@@omarcogle1965 Lot more TKD than Muay Thai. Sidekicks, spinning sidekick, backfist. The blocks against kicks remind me a bit of Benny the Jet (stylized American Karate).
@@lapurdy71 It's choreographed?? Lol just kidding yeah, I know that. But my comment was about his technical level, which makes a difference with said choreography.
Back when tv was more wholesome. Teach the kid that fighting isn't always the answer, that you can earn respect by standing up for yourself and that, sometimes, you have to stand up for yourself if someone's looking for a fight and won't take no for an answer.
Cody used to annoy me, but when he vanished of the show for a time, I realized how much I loved him. Nowadays, I love every moment, nice contrast! I never get over ''Dana-burger'' !
Sasa Mitchell is my favorite character in step by step. He's a phenomenal martial artist. I consider him a legend. I love his kickboxer movies. They are awesome.
Just realized this guy was a castmate of Patrick Duffy in Dallas and then here on this show.... He and Keanu Reeves have similar presences on screen....
Miss the 80s and 90s martial art movies. Movies today just are not the same. Would of been nice is Sasha Mitchell was in more action movies. Same with Dale Jacoby.
The guy Sasha is fighting is real life former professional kickboxer Dale Jacoby. Who also played one the bikers when Cody gets into that huge bar fight. Dale has also been in several martial arts b-movies. His most famous being No Retreat No Surrender where he got annihilated by Van Damme. If this were a real fight. It’d be pretty interesting to see who’d win as both guys are legit martial artists. But I think I’d probably bet on Dale as he’s had more fight experience.
Sasha was and still is no slouch though, experience doesn’t always win the fight,in these scenes like some other scenes you can tell Sasha held back with his speed a lot, plus he utilizes his height pretty damn good Would have been a good legit fight no doubt but yes you’re right His brother Kurt 😉 Annihilated Dale in real life
He did cross train a bit. Since he was in JKD country of Southern California. BJJ, Muy Thai, Karate, taekwondo, Judo..etc. True, his main discipline was kick boxing. Later on he did more of the Dutch style which better utilized his long limbs. This style in particular became very successful in K-1 and Pride Fighting Championships of Japan.
@@penske_material It's the same thing like Jean Claude Van Damme, when he didn't reprise his role for Kickboxer 2, they killed his character off and brought in Sasha Mitchell as the younger brother of the Sloane dynasty.
I just started buying this show on DVD. I forgot good this show was. Today I watched this episode. Love how they used the Rocky theme for the training.
Love the low-key shade Cody is throwing. That casual chuckle when he refers to the guy as "this coach" and at the end was all like "yeah sure no problem dude, we can keep fighting I like throwing you around"
I remember I missed this episode when it originally aired, but I was told about it, and how surprisingly good he was. Given his tall, lanky build, I had expected that his technique wasn't going to be any good because of the way he moved, but when I finally got around to watching it I was shocked at how clean his technique was and you could tell he took his movement and positioning very seriously.
in my opinion Cody was somewhat the true pivotal character of the show, with his weirdness he could be placed in pretty much every kind of storyline. without him it became a little messier.
I always love it when a "doofus," oddball character in a show proves that he (or she) is underestimated and proves that s/he has some skills. 👍 And not just on this show, too.
Look at Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, most times he's the dimwitted sidekick, and yet he proved twice that he could take over the world better than the Brain.
He was in a few of the Kickboxer movies . I watched this show and always wondered if they’d reference it … don’t think I saw this one as a kid . Pretty cool .
any show lasting for 6 to 7 seasons is usually pretty good. Although, Till Death only lasted for 4 season, I found the show pretty good and even better on the last season since they really went all out on the episodes. Becker only lasted like 6 seasons and that was awesome too. I think 6 to 7 seasons is more than enough for any series on TV because after that, the shows start to get stale.
the arrogant coach doesn't know cody is a kickboxer athlete.😁😁. until cody says that occasionally kicking his butt feels good. at that time, cody taught me patience and cheerful
The arrogant coach was a real kick boxer in the movie no surrender no retreat . He was not in karate kid 3 lol. The last sentence was not for you a reply to another person who claimed this was the aka bad boy who was the villain in karate kid III
