PLEASE HELP!! My minor child's (US CITIZEN) first name has been changed legally and his existing OCI card needs to be updated with new name. so how do I populate the "Previous Name" under Personal Particulars in the form ? The checklist says " In case of change of name, previous name must invariably be mentioned in the OCI application, failing which the OCI application is liable to be rejected"
Here's what I have understood from the comments so far. Left hand thumb impression will required for the following documents 1. Undertaking by OCI Applicant 2. Part of the OCI Registration Form Following Form require parents signature 1. Parental Authorization for Minor 2. Consent Letter Following forms have to be notarized 1. Undertaking by the OCI Applicant 2. Parental Authorization for Minor 3. Question: Do we also have to notarize all 'Affidavit in Lieu of Originals' documents?
Can you explain how to complete the affidavit in lieu of originals? Where does the parent sign and where doe the notary sign? Who's name goes at the top, etc?
Thanks for sharing the steps! I did generate and notarize the government form first then uploaded required documents. Now I see more documents in "Uploaded Documents detail" of form. Is it fine?
I see two different checklists online. Please let if you used the one mentioned in your description. Also, did you send the checklist along with the physical copies.
Yes I have used the one that's I have mentioned. Upon completion, I have sent the checklist along with the physical applications as it was mentioned. BTW I too faced the same issue of finding two checklists online l. But be rest assured to use the one I suggest as I have already got OCI using this one. Thanks
It's a nightmare to get minor OCI in the USA . The Indian consulate sent the application back as the Marriage Certificate was not Apostille( They are not accepting notarized documents).
@@nawazalimohammad3071 The document was issued by the "Telangana State Waqf Board." It was accepted for my elder daughter's OCI application (applied in 2018). Now, they want me to get it authenticated by the concerned state for my second child OCI application.
This video complicates things more than just following the VFS and OCI website instructions. Video includes too much personal improvisation and mentions unnecessary documents.
do you have list of documents, which required notary? and which required self attestation, or can you make one and send it or upload that will be more easy to understand.
In my daughter’s case it is that she has oci and wants to apply for her daughters who are 16 and 12 years old. Her husband is an American and will apply for OCI later. Please advise
Hello, do we need to affix the physical photo in the downloaded application form? If yes, where? In the downloaded form, we do see the scanned photo is already printed. Or do we just need to send the photo in the package and no need to affix on the application?
Please do not affix the photograph. Just send it aong with other documents. It's clearly mentioned not to use stapler or glue. You can use a paper clip to keep things organized.
@@peppysageI have the same question. Instructions on the form does states affix the photo on the form. But the downloaded form already has the photo printed. Instructions do mention no staple so I was not sure how to affix the photo. Thanks for the clarification. I will just use a paper clip to keep it in place
OCI application is not like story telling. You have not explained many steps involved. Even one simple mistake can cost the entire process. People should avoid such content. This is not a bullet proof content. Content maker is telling things from a very high level.... OCI application filling is actually a very granular process. It needs infographics and step by step .........click by click ... key by key guidance... such as parent must sign child's passport (there is a designated place for signing US passport). That's why I said... OCI application is not a story telling, listening... unfortunately this video came up in the top search videos for OCI for minors. Not a justice to the audience on such a time critical and expensive process.
This is not a tutorial and I am not teaching you something. Rather I am sharing my experience and exactly telling you how I have done it. And to be precise many have benefited by this. And I try to answer each and every question raised in comments of this and any other video. There is a resource called VFS global which will save your sensitive time if you pay them. I think if you don't want to go the DIY way, please don't waste time on RU-vid and pay VFS for their precise service for OCI.
@@peppysage Your video title says it is a tutorial "Step-by-Step Guide for Fresh OCI Application for Minor from USA | Tutorial 1" and further it tries to present it as a "step by step guide". I have completed OCI application for my minor after consulting multiple RU-vid videos, writing email to VFS on some doubts, reading VFS checklist and referring various online forums. As I just submitted my application and as everything was fresh in my mind, I shared my honest and upfront feedback. Writing criticism takes time and effort, I hope you would this feedback in a positive way. Good luck for your future content.
Hi Thank you for the translation video for the document in VFS Global website, But I am wondering where is the place I can visit for paying them 200$ by that I can avoid doing the work. can you please help me to connect with them for paying the 200$ dollars you mentioned and get the things done. any help is much appreciated.
If you are a account holder at BOFA or Chase bank, they would do notaries as well for free of cost. If you hold their credit card as well, they would do notary for free.
Since we are travelling to India on Evisa in next week and baby is staying for 6 months then where we should apply for OCI, in India or USA which option is best
OCI should be applied when ur kid is in Usa physically So in ur case you should go for e visa for 6 months later you can extend it and to get this e visa you can apply in online
Hi, I have couple of questions, 1. Who needs to sign the document "Undertaking by the OCI" for the minor. 2. Whose name should we write here - I____solemnly swear, in "AFFIDAVIT IN LIEU OF ORIGINALS" document when applying for a couple of months old baby.
Hello Rahul, i spoke with VFS OCI support person today (15MAY2024) and had the same question, it was mentioned by them to have minor left hand thumb impression on Undertaking form and on the part -B document application document.
@@rahulmishra1507 Only on two places, minor's left thumb impression is required. 1. Undertaking document and 2. Part-B application document. On the Affidavit document, it is clearly mentioned at the bottom that in case of minor applicant, on behalf of minor applicant any one of the parent can sign.
In my case my husband has signed on every document of my child. And my child's thumb impression was only taken for the signature space provided in the online application below the photograph. We had also sent the thumb impression in hardcopy along with the physical application.
I have few questions, hope you can answer me 1. For Affidavit in lieu of originals form, can anyone parent enter their name at the top and list all the documents that are related to wife and minor ? else we need to have individual form for each person and list their documents ? 2. Do we need to get notarized 'Undertaking by OCI Applicant' and 'Consent Letter' ? as anyone of the parent would be signing this document? 3. For all the documents that are uploaded, do we need to scan and upload original documents for OCI application or upload all the photocopies with self attestation?
Thanks for asking: 1. You will need 3 affidavit in lieu of originals form. 1 for each person. 2. Undertaking by OCI Applicant needs to be notarized and Consent letter needs to be signed by either of the parents. 3. Upload all photocopies with self attestation Hope that helps.
@@peppysage may i know why 3 affidavit in lieu of originals form, 1 for each person ? one form which is signed by any one parent should be fine right ?
Q1: do i need to send the original minor passport also along with the application or just photocopies with attestation will do. Q2: for parents passport, do i need to send the photocopy for complete passport or biometric page will work?
"Photograph to be affixed on the application should be a square shape of size not less than 51*51mm (with 80% coverage of face). It should have plain light color background (not white) without the border with front view of person's head and shoulders showing the full face in middle of the photograph. It should not be stapled and not have any signature."
Right, it could be off white. You can check the link in the description of this video to get a list of things that you will need for the entire process.
For address proof you can give your tax return. There the name of the baby and other family member is also available. For state ID of spouse you can give driver's license or non-drivers license
Yes, a parent's state ID can be used as proof of address for a minor's OCI application in the USA. Other acceptable documents include utility bills, lease agreements, mortgage documents, and income tax returns. All documents must be recent and self-attested.
Hi, i would like to know about self attestation here. I received the query twice and it says this "Parent's Signature is missing on the applicant's current passport copy; signature of bearer on passport (PG 3) should be signed, and the copy should be self-attested." Does this mean that we have to sign that in original passport and send photocopy or do we have to sign just in page 3 of photocopy ? Any help is appreciated. Thank you !
