So many videos promise clarity, but deliver only flash. You wonder if there's any sincere desire to communicate. This is exactly what I needed, especially the accompaniment, which I expect will expedite fleshing out a lead sheet. I had a piano at home from age 10 to 14 - no lessons, only one beginner theory booklet and a fat song book - and picked out melodies. If I had a time machine I'd go back and show that girl how to harmonize those Beatles songs I was hearing on my little transistor radio. You are a gifted teacher of adults!
Most teachers I have had always discouraged me from playing by ear. I started playing by ear when 3years old, and to this day struggle with sightreading, although with a great amount of practice I have mastered reading, because I wanted to play with other musicians. Nice to see a teacher who encourages this skill.
Lovely! So nice to have a bit of validation for playing by ear. Not that I’m much for it, but sometimes I just have to :) So, to have your permission and encouragement is very welcome. You are quite something!
Thank you for showing how to find the first note of the song to play a song on the key of your choice. This step is almost never explained in any of the videos on how to play songs by ear on piano. Thank you! I include this very first step in my 55 word poem on how I play songs on piano by ear - or rather, "by sight" by visually counting the number of note intervals below the melodic note to find the root note that more or less mirrors whatever melody I'm playing on my right hand: To play song by ear end song on note C to make learning easy by avoiding black keys. To add chords to song play root BELOW melody on each down beat at intervals -1, -5, or -3. Now play each chord by rolling ABOVE root the notes 5, 8, 10 then add notes to suit.
@@LeCheileMusic Here's how I explained how to find the opening note of a song to play the song in the key of C (or any key).... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s_dmi7R6kNs.html
@@LeCheileMusic He has done a good job. Those Kawai pianos hold their tuning very well. I ran an electronic musical instrument service company for 35 years in South Africa, so did tunings of all kinds of products. If a single note or a few notes on a piano drifts I will be brave and pull it up, but more than that needs to be done by a master. Piano tuning is an art because each instrument is different.
