Great job mate ,,this will help out a LOT of people,,,one thing I found building mine was ,,when you strip away the gas bottle and radiator grate at the back and bottom ,,taking out most of the weight ,,sometimes your incubator can be off balance with the big heavy glass door at the front ,,sometimes fixing your incubator to the wall in some way can help 👍👍
I am actually an electrical engineer and I like how you decided to skip the wiring in this video. In this age of health and safety madness and compensation/claim culture they can make you liable for anything. Even as a newbie to reptile hobby I still enjoyed the video big time and who knows maybe one day I decide to breed for fun. Thanks
I've built an incubator which uses a fridge. I've wired up 2 thermostats. One powers the compressor. One powers my heat mats. Our crested gecko eggs would get too hot in summer else. How dangerous is the compressor? Surely it's safe enough to use. We have them in our kitchens ofcourse.
I picked up a Bigger wine cooler a few months ago I already set everything up heattape installed a fan and led lights I only need a good thermostat for it now.. But I did not remove eveything in the back is it really necessary to do all of that?
I just did this with a stainless steel one here in the states. Bought for 75$ already stripped. Spent maybe 130$ for thermostat, and heat tape. Brother installed a fan with a dimmer unit and led lights that come on when the door opens. Stoked to use it this season!
So strange I suggested doing this video only a few days ago on another channel . Great idea plus now it’s shown me just how complicated it really is lol . Maybe for now if I need one I’ll just buy one . Maybe after this build you could do a video on your recommendation of units you can buy pre made xx
What males would you recommend I get ? I currently have 3 females(1 bumblebee genetic stripe,1 spinner enchi, and 1spider het ghost ? I was thinking about getting a super banana pastel. Other than that I have no clue what to do...
I thought this was the fun part, then I started actually adding the needed components to my incubator and I'm having a blast 😂 great tear down video Gavin!🤙🤙
Looking good mate IV the exact "incubator" I used two 3ft heat mats with a habistat I let it settle overnight and has been spot on , unfortunately when i got mine the fan was shagged so had to add a fan myself 😕 nice tip for the stat bracket 👍👍
This does look a bit involved, especially in removing a possibly explosive gas container! I wish I could find somebody who has experience making these around here to build me one like this.
Great video mate, I can't wait for part 2. I just started breeding last season & don't need incu that big yet so I built mine out of a 24 bottle wine fridge.
Great video mate, very informative, I'm sure you disposed of that gas responsibly ;) The compressor unit itself goes to recycling centre or can you take it to the scrappy for a few buck? I can't remember if these units once emptied are worth anything.
I've got a big fridge sitting that I've been looking at menacingly for about 3 months. I had to get a dolly to move the thing and even with me and the brother (we're no slouches) it was still an absolute bastard to move on the dolly. So I had a good laugh when you said they're easy enough moved ^^ Hoping that stripping it solves it but the biggest difference is I've got a freezer display unit, not a fridge. I'm assuming it's a similar idea and the weight is probably because the components in the freezer are heavier than the fridge equivalent. Either way can't wait for the next video!
hi gavin you may want to point out that you may need to get the fridge degassed as not 100% sure but think it is illegal now in the UK (Europe ) to just cut the the pipes to the compressor and release the gas into the atmosphere just to cover your own back as i know that is why scrap men are not allowed to take fridges and freezer now but great video as usual
Another great original video from Mr Balls 2U!! Damn!! Where do you get these ideas from mate?? :D I saw that you use that Ryobi drill!! I used to have one just like that! ;P
