The Lockheed S3-A/S3-B Viking Air Anti-Submarine Aircraft was my planes i worked on, maintained, launched, as well as recovered while I did my time in the US Navy. My main job on these aircraft was a jet engine mechanic, working on the General Electric TF-34 jet turbine engines. My aircraft squadren was the VS-33 Screwbirds out of NASNI naval aviation airbase; SanDiego, California. The art work on the box cover was derived from the rag squadren across our flight line from the "VS-41 Fighting Shamrocks." Thankya for this video.
@@PerisModels I enjoyed the video very much, yes. i have a 1/72 scale model of this S3-A viking that was very detailed in building as well as the all the interior aircrew/ cockpit detail painting as well as exterior painting to one of the exact birds in my squadren at the time. the model was tail heavy so i ended up glueing a quarter inside the nose of the aircraft during assembly, lol. Took me 24 hours of total build time on the model. i have 4 uncompleted kits of this exact same kit as you shared in the video. The S-3's are an attack, multi mission capability aircraft including SAR (Search And Rescue) missions!
The video is awesome, the music made me sleepy. I had to mute it in order to continue watching the video, took some tips of this video to build an detail my S 3 Viking 1/48 scale. Awesome work an details on both videos, thank you for sharing your awesome work🙏👍
Looking great as always, Peri. I bought this kit years ago and it is still in my stash. I worked around the S-3 a lot...even though I was attached to an F-18 squadron (VFA-151), I was around S-3s a lot on the ship. We lost on of our S-3B's in the Persian Gulf in April 2003 when it slid off the deck after landing; the crew ejected safely and were rescued.
I have the NAVY ONE decal set to make the S-3B Viking. Now I just gotta find the correct model. The nice thing avout the decals is you get a set in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale. Hard set to find these days as they came out in 2003. Just waiting for a S-3B model to pop up on Ebay. All I can find is the A model like this one.
I had this same kit when I was younger only mine came with a tinted windscreen. I wish I had those folded wings cause this sucker took up massive amount is space after it was done. Can you imagine a 1/32 S-3 Viking holy crap.
Looking forwards to your build. pity about the cracked canopy, that happened to me on 2 kits, I got the squadron replacement. But the crack it seems that is in the frame so you might be able to fix. Mines was right thru the windscreen. Anyway , Thanks for posting, Tony
@@PerisModels Outstanding ! I think in order to make it tinted AMT used a thinner plastic. I had the original ESCI kit and the clear parts were harder . That kit is my list of items I want to build soon, Have the KMC interior, Squadron canopy and the Santa 1 decal , maybe now I get my mojo going , Thanks !
The Black Dog cockpit is really nice. Almost a drop in fit, but the entry way needs to be built up to match up and hide gaps. (I'm installing mine in the right side first so I can adjust the fit there.) So jealous of your clear canopy. Mine had the tinted version so I had to order the Squadron vac canopy. (I also ordered the Rhino seamless intakes.) Does no one make ducting for the intake on the fin?
Hi! Nice work as usual. We waiting the next chapter. I have a question: what kind of paper or guide you use for rescribing panels lines? Thanks. Bests regards. Cédric from France.
Hi just discovered your channel a quick question if I may about a previous model the tomcatters ,when you weather the model with the salt technic do you do the underside ??
