Over the years i learned the hard way to: wear a hat, long sleeves and disposable gloves on almost all car maintenance. You'll be glad you did, believe me. I also lean that almost empty oil jug propped up to get every drop of that honey out! I measure that 6th quart in a cheap marine mixing bottle and it's exact. I've got an Enclave so that filter situation is the same deal...a pain! Thanks for making the video.

Yeah wearing all the extra gear makes the job alot cleaner for sure even if others talk down on you for it. Yeah it gives me peace of mind to make sure i put all the new oil from the jug in the car. As far as the oil filter position that is honestly a pain to get anything in there and you have to let it completely cool off if you dont want to burn yourself.

That filter is annoying. I had the same experience and thoughts when i was doing my oil on my 17 traverse.

Safety first! If that hydraulic jack collapses you’re done. You need to spend a little money on Jack Stands before you get crushed to death ☠️ while under the vehicle smh 🤦.

Stupid question but does it HAVE to be jacked up?

You dont have to, but the problem is you wont be able to fit underneath the vehicle to get drain plug loose. If it was higher like a pickup the you might fit, but it would be best to jack it up. And also it's not a stupid question at all. It's best to ask and make sure your good than to not ask it and make a mistake later on. Hope that helps out.

If it is your first oil change I would make sure you can loosen the filter first then tackle the rest . /If you can loosen the filter a little then go do the oil drain plug . If you can't get it off then you havent already drained the oil and you can take it to a shop just in case you find it impossible to get the filter off. We all know some of these things are gunned on at the factory and I have had some that are impossible to get off without destroying the filer itself .

When I made this video, I had already changed the oil a few times, so it was easier to take off for sure. I hand tighten the filter since with the vibrations of the motor, the filter gets a bit more tight. But I understand where your coming from with the filter not wanting to come off. I once had to stick a screwdriver through an oil filter in my pickup to get it loose enough to take off but like you said I destroyed the filter completely in the process

Nice job. Just make sure to not over tighten drain plug because it is aluminum. Spec says to tighten to 18 ft/lb. Great Job!! I also HATE this design. It was like the engineers decided to put the filter in the most awkward spot....

Thank you. Yeah i leave the bolt just tight enough because with the vibrations of the motor it tightens up the bolt just a hair more. Plus nobody wants to have issues the next time your in a hurry to change the oil. And that oil filter design is horrible and extremely uncomfortable, especially when the motor hasn't cooled down at all.
