Hi Brian, is it possible to allow the user to navigate around the steps in an advanced form, in no particular order? Or is the only option to follow the steps in the order they have been created? Thanks for all your videos, you have excellent teaching skills!

Hi Brian, great video('s) about the portal apps. I was wondering if the business process flows which can be used in the model driven app also is available in the portal environment? The case I am working on is to get the right information depending on some choices in the process, to finally be able to trigger a background process with automated flow as soon as the information is completed in the process flow.

And how would you do if you require the basic form to allow the client to enter an attachment? I loved your video, it has been a great help.

Sure, the the advanced properties of the form, there is an Attach File checkbox.

Thanks, Brian for these great tutorials. At 4:23 in the video I noticed that both Bubba & Brian are shown in the lookup dialog (I was expecting to see just Bubba) as Bubba is logged in. I also think Microsoft may have changed something, when I try to open the dialog I get the message "You don't have permissions to view these records". Not sure where to set this as I thought we had already given the student web role lookup of their own records. Any pointers? Thanks again for the great videos.

To anyone who had the same issue, just keep watching the videos, Brian has the same problem and shows how to fix it :)
@PragmaticWorks
@PragmaticWorks 3 года назад
Yes correct. Now Table Permissions are turned on by default. Checkout the next video in this series where it shows how to fix that for you. Let me know if that doesn't answer it though!

Great video! Is it possible to apply input masks to power apps portal fields? I have added a mask in the form editor and they work in the model driven app but not in portal apps.

Hi Brian, thanks for the super informative tutorial series. I'm learning so much from them and managing to follow along despite the changes in terminology and layout / naming that Microsoft have made to the platform since you recorded these. I'm getting stuck right at the end though. Where in your video you update the name of the Advanced form in the source code and it then appears when you browse the site, when I browse the site i see the page, but the form doesn't display. you mentioned something about ensuring that the page template allows for advanced forms, but I'm not sure how to do this. This is complicated more by the fact that I don't have access to the page template you use in your video ('Page with Title' I'm using the closest one by appearance that I can which is called 'Full Page'). Could you explain how to check if the template allows for Advanced forms? Thank you!
@clodola1
@clodola1 2 года назад
The web template was the issue , if your entity list or form are not rendering, then chances are your web template does not support them; I used the 'Full Page' web template for the entity form as it worked with the entity list , I checked the code within the web template and “Full Page” has specific code to render an entity form and entity list, but it does not render the Entity form , illustrates a mostly blank page, (I tired in Chrome & Edge), I changed the web template to use "Default Studio Template", it worked , "Default Studio Template" does not contain any code specific to the entity list or form ; FUBAR

Thank you Brian for the tutorial. I have a question: How to trigger a Power Automate Flow from within the Portal, say on a button click. I would like to pass the form fields data to an external source.

Hey Brian. I'm struggling to make this work properly. Can you do redirects in between steps where you are pulling results from the previous step? I know the first step is always an insert step, but then the rest of the steps should be edit steps if I'm going to continue updating the record I created in the first step. For whatever reason, if I put a redirect step in between my insert and edit steps, the form never loads to the tap that I specify, it just starts with the tab from the first step and goes nowhere. Any ideas? Love the video, by the way.

Hi Brian, thanks a lot for your videos I am new on this. In case that Students need to register more than 1 item (eg. Courses) in the same Form, how would you do that? I mean, a list of items where user can add/remove items before save
@PragmaticWorks
@PragmaticWorks 3 года назад
Sure David. You would allow for multiple sessions at the Web Form (Advanced Form) level in the first screen config.

After a year, I've come back to watch this video series again! And I have a feeling that in a Web Form (Advanced Form, or now called Multisteps Form), the selecting 'Result From Previous Step' for the Record Source doesn't do anything, if the table for the previous step is a different table from the current step, as there isn't a way to include any value entered from previous step to show on the current steps page. Can anyone confirm my understanding is correct? 😄
@PragmaticWorks
@PragmaticWorks Год назад
You are correct about Multi-Step forms. Check out the Power Page series to show those pieces. You're also correct that step two should be Results from a Prev Step where Step 1 is an Insert.

@Pragmatic Works I have been working with power apps but I'm a beginner when it comes to power portal How do I adjust alignment of pages in power portal coz header, footer and every section is aligned centre so when I create 2 or more pages in the Header it is displaying in 2 lines since everything is aligned centre. Could you please help me with this?

At 4:30, when I submit, I get "The form could not be submitted for the following reasons: You don't have the appropriate permissions." This happens if I select a Student. If I leave that field blank, then submit is successful. After some testing, I found that I had to create a new Table Permission for the Contact table with Access Type 'Global', and Grant the Student Web Role 'Append' permission in order for the new application to submit successfully with selected student. But I don't know why it is required and if this setup is correct or not. At 4:57, I only see 'Administrators' and 'Authenticated Users' in the list. 'Students' is not there for me to select...

I assume you created the Students web role. If not, please review the previous video in this series to create that. If you have, click the magnifying glass next to the search to see all the roles.
@conaxlearn8566
@conaxlearn8566 3 года назад
@@PragmaticWorks Thank you for the reply! Yes I did create the 'Students' role. If I try to click on the magifying glass, it hides itself to the left and, leaving me with a cursor in the box so I tried to type Students in the box but it doesn't find it. If I click the Manage roles link instead, then the Active Web Roles is shown with 5 roles. Administrators Anonymous Users Authenticated Users Power Apps Editors (I created this earlier) Students (I created this while following your videos) 😥 Nevertheless, although I wasn't able to achieve 100% of what you've shown in the videos, this series did help me understand a lot more. I only started learning about Dynamics/Power Apps a week ago. Thank you.

Hello, good evening I am stuck over here, where it shows that instruction "Advance form must have a start step" Can you tell whats the reason for this error?
@PragmaticWorks
@PragmaticWorks 3 года назад
Sure, on the first screen of the advanced form (called Web Form in this video as it was an earlier release) there's an option for your starting step. Once you create your first step, just set that property.

It's now called Multi-Step forms or you might also see it called Advanced Forms. I have an updated version of this if you're using Power Pages also.
