London ambulances cost around quarter of a million pounds to equip with all the medical gear and capabilities needed to provide a high level of emergency and critical care. Join me and senior paramedic John inside the ambulance to take a closer look at what’s on board and why these are such incredible pieces of kit. John also shares some of his experiences on the front line and how he copes with some of the things he has to see day in day out. I hope this video has been interesting! Hey!!! I invite you to show the work of Biomedical Scientist andd what we do in the labs. Maybe ask your microbiology department as they are the ones testing the samples (not sure if lewisham has a micro department on site). I work in Histo/cyto but at a different hospital in london. Would be more than happy to explain the insides of Histo if you wanted.

Now, I think u DO a great job but I really feel triggered by how careless u guys are when it comes down to wearing PPE and keeping ur distance among urselves when clearly u work in a high risk environment and deal with the virus very closely- I just don’t get it- and it’s actually the thought of putting myself into that unsafe environment that would keep me away from hospital even if I became really unwell. I talked to my grandparents about the very same thing the other day. They said they would rather die at home than go into hospital and I really cannot blame them. I just don’t understand why ur so careless in situations like here where it would be so easy to just show more consideration and common sense by wearing a mask, not touching everything with ur bare hands and keeping ur distance - especially since ur in a position online where u should set an example. It’s just beyond me and I feel very uneasy seeing this tbh 🥴

@@jayjayfuller7078 they don't wear masks 24/7, only when dealing with patients. He probably washes his hands more then enough times. You didn't care before the coronavirus, depesite there being many viruses/illnesses/bugs around that could kill the vunerable anyway.

@@howibreeze1630 I qualified as a Paramedic last September. There is a tough element to being a Paramedic because we treat patients prehospitally in a non controlled environment. I'm 16 YO and I want to start my journey to becoming a paramedic within the next few years. While we are seeing public appreciation now for the whole of the NHS, yet there has always been a misunderstanding of the true job which paramedics and ambulance staff undertake, and the horrible situations they face from the very public praising them now. Paramedics are medical professionals trained at degree level in pre-hospital medicine, arguably they can have a tougher job (sometimes) than those in a hospital which have a reliable system for any emergencies. Paramedics are often the lead medical professionals on scene of any emergency the public faces, and yet they still face all types of abuse from the very people they serve. But after that, a huge thank you to the whole of the NHS and all key workers at this time!

Your videos make it all look very well thought out and safe. It’s especially good that you are young and have a following from previous adventures because you will be helping young people to understand more about how hospitals and doctors function and the importance of good practices such as hygiene etc in these trying situations. Perhaps (unless already done) show us how to apply and remove a mask safely. I’ve seen it done but many probably haven’t and it’s important.

Hi Alex, hope your well? Again thank for another excellent video on showing us some of the equipment. Very much appreciated. How do you reassure patients that it is safe to hospitals. How could you do this? Thank you so much Alex, you are a great guy and a very caring person. Great on you! :)

Thanks for watching! We are so careful to isolate patients with coronavirus and so other patients have a minimal chance of exposure x

So interesting thank you!! :)) really gave me a real insight! I would love for you to do a video on how doctors and maybe also paramedics deal with individuals with mental ill health who come into hospital. I would find that really interesting. Thank you for this video 😊

Great to see inside the ambulances and talk to the paramedics who are key for dealing with the first minutes of an incident. Didn’t realise that there are two types of ambulance depending on the categorisation of the 999 call. Do doctors go out on ambulance calls when there are major incidents or is it the paramedics who have to make the decisions on how to treat patients in those types of calls ? Keep up the good work Alex and stay safe..👍👍👍👍

Hey Richard ! Paramedics do plus there are pre-hospital care doctors that go out too :)
@Cherubrmy
@Cherubrmy 4 года назад
You have teams made up of Critical Care Paramedics and a pre-hospital Trauma Doctor that can be sent to the most clinically urgent calls, though there are very limited numbers of them, and of course the air ambulance usually has one of these trauma teams on board

I’d love to see what process they go through to a) for them & b) how they’re cleaned after a suspected CoVid patient has been in an ambulance
