Seriously, Mashable? You learn how to be a hacker when you study cybersecurity. You HAVE to learn how to hack in order to know how to defend against it. "Ethical Hacking" is the title of one of the classes in my Cybersecurity & Information Assurance college program. It's the same thing. You made this seem sinister.
Schismosis no shit. it's called offensive security anyone who's in the field could be called a hacker but only black hats are considered bad. go download a Kali distro and teach yourself...
Kali just contains the tools necessary, i.e. hashcat, JTR, wireshark, etc. 90% of those have windows binaries now. So anyone with a shitty windows laptop can learn
"Turns" as if hackers are criminals. Hackers are hackers, criminals are criminals. The definition of a hacker have become very warped from what it usually should define.
Wow Mashable. Pretty crappy story. You made legitimate cybersecurity courses taught at a college, where ethical hacking is the norm, and made it look criminal. You misrepresented an entire field of study to push some subpar clickbait headline.
ZJam yes they teach this in school, but this seems like a private short term school for those familiar with networking, programming, CS, and cryptography. Much like those coding boot camps.
OH MAN!! yea ur right, thats why im a hacker. strange thing is im actually OPEN for attacks. like litteraly, i disable all antiviral or firewall. my idea is, if somebody hacks me, i can learn from them. (Piece of My Mind)
you can learn from someone who "hacked" you after getting thru your 0 protection? what? like you could say that if you had your antivirus and firewall and whatever modification you made and then someone hacked you, yeah can learn from that and patch it, but not if you've got nothing. Also who tf says "thats why im a hacker."
Hacking is so easy. All you need to do is enter "start counterstrike" and send in the cybernukes. If you're getting hacked, just unplug your monitor. Works everytime. No need for antivirus. Run Windows 24/7
I joined a club at my university that did shit like this. It was really fun, we attacked and defended eachother's networks. I'm a moron and I could do it. My point is, it's not a big deal and the face blur is unnecessary
Actually hackers, good or bad are attacked everyday. People get the view that all hackers a bad hackers and abuse anyone they see associating in hacking. I mention to any of my friends or any of their friends that I am currently in a cybersecurty course at Tafe, they loose their shit and get scared of me because I might "hack" them. It's stupid but it's the reality.
The reason for this may be very apparent. If the teachers do any netsec/pentesting outside of the classroom as a means for more cash there is a chance someone in a company will be able to identify them. Part of a pentest is social engineering, in which the "hackers" test staff out to see if they are compliant with standards. If the staff happened to watch this video and managed to identify these dudes as "hackers" then a regulations check on staff would be pointless.
just don't click on any suspicious links, only visit websites with (they're normally trustworthy), only download things you are 100% confident are what you want (e.g. video stock footage or online downloads you purchased etc) and don't connect to any wireless hotspots you can't identify. you should be safe from ~97% of possible hacking attempts.
Ahmed Hattali MacOS is a derivative of Unix, like all linux operating systems. And by the way just because you have Apple hardware does not imply Apple software.
You cannot prevent hacking you can only make it more difficult. There are always flaws, bugs, weak links and vulnerabilities. The question is, "will the hacker find them?"
As a student curious about software development and electrical engineering and hardware development, this class would be CRAZY HELPFUL in understanding how not to do things or to create a way of thinking that allowed me to be consciously aware of software vulnerabilities in systems I work on or work with. I would love to take this course or a similar course, oh my god, this is invaluable and I would love practical experience that allows me to develop more intelligent systems. This course would definitely elevate my standards in developing systems. This would completely change my perspective of security and that is inconceivably valuable. Someone contact me with a course like this, I know a dozen or two software developers that would love to take this course! I have a hard time finding a hands on course like this for cyber security, it's always theory based and I feel so disconnected with the material. I need a course like this.
wow...the people talking reminds me of the Chevy commercials...such bullshit. "I have software that prevents hacking..." right sure...you're mrs. elite h4x0r now...I guarantee they don't have a basic understanding of how hacking fundamentally works, regardless of this "class"
Considering she wasn't in the class and was a random person on the street then yeah, I would probably say that she doesn't know how it fundamentally works. Regardless of AV protection, it's super simple to bypass, and I'm sure you know that. With all of the tools we have today to modify signatures, trace instructions within the code on already compiled executable's and insert our own shellcode dynamically and scramble any traces using polymorphic junk code I would say that in the right hands AV doesn't stand a chance at all.
I look through this comment section and see no one or very few who can actually "Hack" into someones computer. You see, having software in place to fill "Holes" can help. But you see, your antivirus, your "Anti Hacking software" (I fucking died when I heard that), and your firewalls (Well everyone should use these they do help) all CAN be breached. BUT, Besides all that, phishing is so much easier. Even tho everything else can be broken through, With one tempting email they can give up there credentials. You can litterally just make replica of someones bank login page and grab there login when they try to login to the phony one if someone is that dedicated. YOU are the best antivirus for your computer.
You can hack on any computer. As long as you can access a bash shell your all set. MacOS runs Unix which has bash, also you could install a GNU/Linux distro as well.
River O'Luachra Yeah, that was what i was talking about. I mean not all the wifi adapters and IR capturing devices support mac, also the lack of a good number of ports can be a issue
FoxelVox I know but in a mac you cannot dual boot, and by using a virtual machine you cannot fully utilize the power packed by a machine, and this will definitely be a problem for password cracking. Even though mac now supports an egpu, a good gaming laptop in the price range of a macbook will be far more versatile and powerful for bruteforcing.
1:35 we may all agree that pretty much ANY more complex to-the-net connected device HAS a firewall, yey right? btw, the black-hair girl - pls....let the world know wut that software would be to "prevent hacking"??? hahahahaha * facepalm *
Me: Ok teacher, last night I hacked finally Google thanks to your lessons. Teacher: Hell wt.f I am gonna die. I will fuk- suspend yo-.. Dude I am not your teacher, understand ?! Plz :c
a school for hacking??...hacking is prob one of the easiest things to do...its scripting and programing codes that confuse people...but those are mainly used to fix websites and block hackers...along with creating viruses
there is no "hacking". you can't teach someone to "hack", unless by "hacking" you mean "use tools that others wrote". Hacking comes naturally when you have a very deep understanding of how systems work and you think unconventionally.
If I learned how to hack I'd... I'd use it to hack games which is kinda bad.... but then again it's just a game. I'd also use it to defend myself from hackers and finally I'd use it to prank my friends it would be so funny. Maybe on April fools I could hack my teachers computer at school
don't call those phone numbers on your screen that say "YOUR PC HAS A VIRUS AND WILL TRACK YOU (blah blah blah) CALL THIS NUMBER RIGHT NOW ###########"
Hi James, Ive stumbled upon you on TED talk and let me tell you something. YOU ARE AMAZING DUDE. I havent had such a good laugh in a very long time :).
that's why i completely install new version of windows every few weeks. it should be standard practice that you don't have anything important on your computer just entertainment stuff like movies music etc so you won't give a fuck if you get wannacry and even think of paying those fucks. nah i'm good i'll destroy the ssd if its worse than expected and put another spare one with new windows installed :)
Yeah ever wondered if you're just creating possibilities for more people to do malicious stuff. You are not creating "awareness" at all you are creating more ways to increase problem that we already have.
So, its a netsec class. Why is it secret, and why are the faces blurred? If they are teaching defensive cybersecurity, why would they want to hide? This makes no sense to me!
I was reading the comments, and it's so sad seeing so many people talking about a subject that they know nothing about, while pretending to know it all.
Thats abit dramatic acting like they are organised criminals and covering their idenity acting like what they are doing is sinister... lmao they teach it in college and highschools
*and also because MacBooks are overpriced pieces of shit. Just buy a laptop for 500$ and install Hackintosh. You have got yourself an even better MacBook if you really want that Mac..
hacking can be done on several different ways. It also depends on what you define as "hacking".. Is it only hacked when full system control? Or maybe you glad with only browser hacking, just for facebook? Maybe you manage to hack your way into a ticketing system to be 100% sure of a (cheaper) ticket. Or you reverse engineer some gambling software and now you can better predict outcomes. Or sniff data. Or maybe someone can combine all of these and set up a major hack... it all depends. Yes you can be hacked only by accessing a link, and most of the times hackers will get full system control when downloading something fishy
Wow. You just realized that as a normal user ?! And your willing to pay your life out for the newest technology and you have Noooo idea how this technology evolves better yet get dangerous. Everything comes at a price. Talking from experience. Social engineering in todays world is like the major up lifting or the heavy work if you will, done by pretty brilliant hackers (Very common). And all that is fueled by your mentality of using a device and not even putting one possibility of getting hacked to at least know a little about securing your devices. You basically make a simple gateway. So a hacker can play on your emotions based on your usage of a device Your foolishness makes a pro hack ( A red one) use that against you. You might have even made him a favor in foot printing to make it easier for him/her to attack you. And you wonder what is going on ? Dump stupid parents give their 5 year old child a device at such a young age. And we expect the parents to know about security on their OWN devices ??. In essence. Your childs device is a door step to me to get to your device even if it took me months to plan for it. Still doable.( Thats the scary part about it) you have hackers out there that write malware specifically based on the study of your interpretation of using a device. So by nature 9/10 a normal user would not know. But what you NEED and what WE want YOU to do as a normal user is be CAUTIOUS to say the least and not click on anything you feel curiosity about rather get suspicious. I do not think this is hard to do and adapt well since your using THESE techies and afraid of getting hacked. Common sense. On the other hand. 90% of the real world hacking in a general view is based on LOGIC. Then come skills. Those two always fundamentals aspects play together in a world of a real passionate hacker craving and crafting knowledge( despite the intent). So DO NOT fucking tell me it’s that hard to use 0.2% logic in your world, to say the least to better protect yourself while your online. Something as simple as not clicking on a mail you feel your guts is telling you this is malicious. ALOT of people sadly enough lack this understanding. All you fucking care about is better technology. Then don’t complain when you get hacked. When i used to work on the hardware side of things it’s always been troubling for my clients to make a full back up of what they currently have on their drives. And they never LEARN they come back wining about how something went down, their fault, their computers are killed and now they lost all their data.... and no.. it wasn’t even some sort of an attack. Just a simple user making mistakes and breaking things loosing data eventually and not a single action been taken to back up before hand. We’re not even talking security at this point. It’s like you have lambo and you lost the key to it without the precaution taken as to “ what happens when or if i lost it” before you had lost it. It’s your fault. In the computer world it’s the same thing. You get online like you think your walking into paradise online hence why you have people literally addicted to facebook. You do not do the same thing in PROTECTING it. So partially it’s your fault. And people need to stop giving away dey privacies to prevent the hacks from occurring. You know google spys on you and you don’t anything about it. What would you expect from your info on a dozen different web pages and apps ;) no security taking for granted. I swear life is easier if we used our intellect and push ourselves to vigilance. Peace all
Best way to protect yourself is to not get attention to yourself if you a employee for a job and a hacker looking to hack your job company they can target a virus on your phone and then wait for you to connect to the company wifi and then they can get more information that the way some employees can be arrest. some streamer can be swatted if a person know their location what hacker do they can find which video source you coming from and everybody can download this there a plug-in that tell you who you talking to there a RU-vid channel call that one guy where he guess people location on Omegle as a prank of course and he does censored their location too so everything is ok
Hacking with the most insecure device on the internet world, Mac. Lucky you running that Khali like an athlete on a vm environment...btw, vm's, STILL not safe. Instead, try portable os's like Khali or Tails.
Looks like a "How to use Metasploit 101" course. I mean...Metasploit is all well and good but it doesn't always work...as anyone who has taken any class in the pentesting domain can tell you. If you can't at least modify the code of a pre-existing exploit to fit your target, or write your own if there's not one, you're definitely not a hacker. Changing options in Metasploit only gets you so far. If they're teaching the methodology behind finding attack vectors and good enumeration techniques, then fine. But again, it only gets you so far.
