Weak, you guys know nothing! For many, many years, the Brazilian Portuguese announcer Rômulo Mendonça (goat basketball announcer), calls Curry "JARARACA" and "brinquedinho assassino". Among other things. You gotta know a bit of Brazilian Portuguese to understand where Rômulo is coming from and the tone on his voice. It's absolutely brilliant and hilarious. We're priviledged to have such a guy announcing NBA games with Curry and others. Of course Rômulo has nicknames for everyone and also manages to come up with hilarious and exciting lines in any game with any team and for any situation. He's a total master. It's sad all you guys got is "baaang". Omg! 🤦‍♂️ This is like 0,5% compared to what Rômulo does during a single match.

By the numbers: Curry's NBA career 3pt percentage: 42.6% (41.8% in FIBA games prior to these Olympics, but we'll go with the higher NBA percentage) Therefore, the percentage chance that Steph hits 4 in a row would be only 3.3%.... and that 4th shot was unquestionably a lower percentage shot than most.... but... of course, he made all 4. Us Warriors fans are familiar with this phenomenon, perhaps it was Bob Fitzgerald who coined the phrase "Curry Flurry" but whether he did or didn't, the phrase is a thing because it happens often enough to exist.
@mookiestewart3776

Great post but you gotta factor in his volume of shooting as well. The dude shoots a fuckton of threes every year and throughout his career. Hitting 43% with his volume of shooting only happens if you get unbelievably HOT at times. If those factors were taken into consideration then his likelihood of hitting 4 in a row goes WAY UP. Fuck 4-4 , how many times have we seen him go 6-6 or something like that??
@pinobluevogel6458

Shooting can be a mess, there are a million factors to how well a certain player shoots. Clearly though, having a player like Steph Curry, that most of the time can increase his percentage when it counts, while also shooting the largest volume is exceptional and very rare. On the podcast of greatest shooters of all times, the boring answer was always Steph Curry, as he litterally blows everyone else's insane stats out of the water.

He's a one of one. He's a unique both pg and sg and has thus created his own position. To call him the greatest point guard of all time is difficult because he doesn't play the position traditionally. He's revolutionized the position. His off the ball movement operates like a point guard court generalship creating massive openings for other players. It's why even if you have Lebron and KD on the same court with him you double STEPH CURRY. He can just cut your heart out and put you to sleep. If I'm creating my all time starting 5 Steph Curry is my PG. Lebron is my 3 operating as almost a point forward. MJ is my Shooting Guard. Tim Duncan is my Power Forward and with Steph cutting he will probably feast on the block. And I can never decide between Shaq or Hakeem for my Center.

i liked the smaller moves we made. anderson and melton should be good fits in our system, and if hield can be a bit more consistent than klay was from outside and draymond is available all season we could be a top 5 team in the west. especially if jk, moody, podz and tjd (who have all shown they can be rotational players) make strides. that said, i do agree that we need to add a big piece. i guess i just trust that the right move hasn't been there yet, and we'll pull the trigger when we find a deal that doesn't require us to give up too much of that young core.

You keep Steph because he sells tickets and makes the team relevant regardless of their actual ability to win games and make a playoff run. I agree objectively they should have entered a full rebuild already and traded all the vets to super charge that process. But no one in the team has the balls to be the one to make that hard decision, the fan base would riot if Steph were traded unless he asked out which he won't do.

I think in this case, Steph is this popular and this good (still and maybe for a few more years) that there is no need to reset the roster fully. They do need other players to make sure they have at least a shot. If Pod can improve and Kuminga can keep up his slow increase in effectiveness and they can rely on Wiggins again (which they could not for the last season) they have a solid core for a playoff team. They just need more size and maybe another high volume threepoint shooter.
@berserkmonk5331
@berserkmonk5331 Месяц назад
Also, I agree with the overall idea of capitalizing on Steph's remaining years. Some fans are weird, prioritizing wanting to keep our young guys and picks and see what they can do 5+ years from now... It's like... When Curry is gone, THEN we can sit around and see what happens with our future young players. Podz or Kuminga shouldn't have been the sole reason a Markkanen deal couldnt get done. Also, they shouldn't have traded everything for Markkanen, like Podz, moody, Kuminga, looney, 4 1sts, some seconds, etc... but Podz, moody+ 3 1sts, I think would have been ok. Or Kuminga, moody and 3 firsts, 2 second rounders. Something like that.

@Urbrosfriends2ndcuz Месяц назад
Let's put this in perspective. Would you trade JK, Podz, Moody and all your picks for Klay Thompson? Lauri isn't going to give us that much more output as a 2nd option. He's good but he's not a Shai or Anthony Edwards and def not a Doncic/KD. You would need that caliber player for the trade to make sense. I get the desire to want to bet it all on Steph but that type of trade is actually worse for Steph because it makes us completely inflexible in the likely case that the Lauri trade is a bust and doesn't get us far in the playoffs.
@pinobluevogel6458
@pinobluevogel6458 Месяц назад
@@Urbrosfriends2ndcuz That is where you are wrong. While Klay historically has been the better threepoint shooter, he isn't that good of a slasher, nor is he even close to the consistancy and production that Lauri offers. Also, having a way larger body helps shoring up defenses on a position that normally doesn't offer a 7 footer, while losing nothing offensively. While I do think Lauri isn't as good a fit next to Steph as with more ball dominant guards, he still would have made the team a ton better. That is not to say having Podziemski is wrong, that guy is showing a lot of promise and has been a productive player even his early years.

@@pinobluevogel6458 a ton better doesn't mean championship contender. We're basically betting everything on whether adding just Lauri makes us better than everyone else in the west and the Celtics. And on whether Lauri was actually going to stick around and not demand too much. Betting our whole future with and without Steph on someone who's never made a playoff run. We're at a good spot now, because if a proven all star becomes available before the Feb trade deadline, we'll be better off than if we went all in now. And if they don't, we still have our assets to make moves in the next offseason.
@pinobluevogel6458
@pinobluevogel6458 29 дней назад
@@Urbrosfriends2ndcuz To be fair, I understand those points and it is sound reasoning, but I think the problems are with the roleplayers, which is not getting solvedf by having an added proven all-star. Look at the Suns, they have 3 all-star caliber players and barely made the playoffs. It is about team construction most of all, finding all the pieces that work and have a deep enough roster to both survive setbacks and being able to rest your lineup sufficiently, but also to have greater matchup versatility.

This is a big issue for the Warriors, they do not know yet how good their young players will hold up over the next season(s). Losing Klay was bad from a legacy kind of perspective, but it does open up a lot more possibilities and it is not like he was his best self over the last years. Offering Moody, who seems to be the person that gets the least love from the organisation for some reason, wasn't even a horrible idea, as long as it came with enough value in picks. Personlly I love Moody, he has had not a great percentage from three over his 3 seasons, but I've always seen him perform very well in the playoffs and the numbers do improve even though it is a low sample size. He seems to be a reliable option for them, even lategame. A decent to good defender, who works hard and can make solid decisions on the court. Unlike Kuminga, who came in the league at the same time, we at least know what he's worth. At points it almost felt unfair that a team that used to be as good as the Warriors got draft picks that were this solid and playable, like Brandon Podziekmski for example, he was a total steal. Now, when they aren't great and need to do a lot better, it doesn't feel as bad anymore. The WC is stacked with good teams and they will have a hard time going anywhere even if their young guys are good.
@jordanclark8437
@jordanclark8437 Месяц назад
The true best option might be giving Moody a real chance. Treating them, in their minutes, as highly valuable and trying to win a more 2011 Mavericks type of title. By that I mean 1 MVP level player and the others around him maybe not popular stars.

We are talking about a guy that in his 2022-2023 season had comparable shooting numbers to Kevin Durant, while being a more fit, stronger and younger player .. on a contract that was smaller than most roleplayers would get on a team. He is by far the most plug-and-play scorer that will fit on any team in the league. Sure he isn't the best defender, but he still has length and size to bother people and fitting him next to other stars as a legit stetchable scoring option is probably easier than with almost any other player in the league.

What I see today is that neither Steph, LeBron nor KD accept to take less money to go to or to build a better team around them. That’s why what we saw on this Olympics was unique. We saw the greats of this era win one more “ring” and we all saw what they can do with more than enough help.

And why the team looks bad without LeBron, Curry outside of 2014-2018 hasn't had a really good roaster, 2019 was top heavy, 2020-2021 was trash 2022 had potential but egos weren't managed so we never saw it grow, 2023-2024 were bad and Kerr hasn't been a good coach since 2018

@@MrBrachiatingApe Thats interesting. We lost in the play in in 2021. Just like this year. We had no major acquisitions that summer. Just picked up role players (Otto, Bjelicia). Upgraded from within (GP2 and Jordan Poole from the G-League) and things clicked for Wiggins. I think that summer was very similar to this summer finding key role players (Anderson, Melton, Hield). I'm pretty optimistic about what this team is goinng to be capable of.

@@jaystack2020 I was high on Poole from the end of the year before. OPJ was a former overall pick who was absolutely snake bitten by injuries however, the word at the beginning of the year was that he was in the best help he hasn't been in for 5 years. Bjelica was a former Euro league mvp, a stretched big man whose defense had been consistently underrated. I actually went to University with GP2's uncle and had watched some of GP2's g league games, so I had both heard and seen that he was something special as a defender. My reasoning was correct... But far less common, it was correct ENOUGH. And way way rarer, bad failed to luck render moot any preseason reason.

I think it is good for the NBA game to have these international teams be able to beat us. France, Canada, and Serbia could do it in 2028.... After Lebron, Curry, and KD are gone, I don't think the US talent pool will be as good as what they will have after 4 more years of building.

Loved watching the Olympics and Steph going off, will never not love seeing that. My question for the ppl hating on warriors off season moves(lack of) is, do you think they have a magic wand? Or did you want them to give up the farm to just have literally only Steph, Draymond, and PG/Lauri? All reports say they tried to get those dudes, but PG didn't want the Warriors to give up too much or else he might not want to come, and on the other end the Clippers didn't want to play ball or take on JK cuz of his potential big contract coming up. And with Lauri, dude didn't want to leave Utah anyway, so it would've been Siakim style or the Warriors would have to give up each player's first born to get Ainge to make a deal, so like what are we talking about here? Teams don't want to deal with the Warriors, they hate us. As for keeping Steph, Lacob wants the money. He'll keep Steph "till he's 90" whether he can build a new team around him or not
@tormentor91
@tormentor91 Месяц назад
This is a very negative take considering the Warriors won 46 games last year, which, in most other years, would put them safely into the playoffs. And they did that with Draymond's suspension and Kuminga's injury to close the year. I would also say that they got better in the offseason overall. Is it enough to win a championship? No, but I don't think anyone they could've added could make them serious championship contenders over the likes of Denver/OKC/Minnesota and that's just in the West. Sure, Lauri would be a great fit, but to get him you'd have to give up a lot and podziemski's Rookie year was extremely promising. A versatile player like that, if he develops, is worth a ton in the NBA.

To answer your first question 1. why make these moves if you were not going to get a No. 2? Those trades were to restore depth and ensure we are not in the play in. You need to actually look at the west currently. Last season is over and those rosters are not the same as they were. Every one is saying yeah the west is stacked, but besides the Mavs (though I’m still not sure if they did improve) and Thunder I can’t say anyone made more improvements than the warriors in the west. Before you say pelicans look at how much depth they lost. 2. The ‘strange’ lineups have more to do with how we prepare team USA than it does the coach. Kerr was running the small ball with Mikal at the 5 cause we didn’t bring any real form of rim protection. JJJ is not a good rim protector, he’s a roaming defensive 4. JJJ, Bobby Portis and Kessler were really struggling with FIBA rules making them unplayable at times. Look I’ll agree I think Kerr doesn’t take advantage of development moments with younger players. Also the Team USA coach has a lot of control on how the team is constructed. On the other Hand until we catch up with the world when it comes to national team preparation, then your going to see weird lineup decisions that the coach will have to make due to the lack of team preparation.

idk why you’d want the warriors to break bank for Lauri. he’s still unproven. as a warrior fan, if I was the gm, I would not trade our best young players along with our future picks just for Lauri. I commend mdj for holding the picks and young guys. if your position is “if you’re not trading the young guys, why are you keeping steph?”, you’re simply being too impatient. obviously, the warriors didn’t get that piece that they want to pair with steph, but why the hell would the warriors immediately just trade steph? why rant about it when the window for lauri literally just closed. do you want the warriors to trade steph without actually consulting with the guy given that he was busy with the olympics? also, what’s to say that the warriors don’t have a plan to trade for another player that would help the warriors compete now? you’re being too impatient.
@AllStarKydd
@AllStarKydd Месяц назад
I never understand these “Lauri is still unproven” takes. Was Wiggins proven when we traded for him? Lauri is already a 23 and 8 guy on shooting splits of 48/40/90. Lauri is already an all-star. How much more proven are you looking for him to be, playing on team that’s been practically tanking since they traded Donovan and Rudy. If he were anymore proven, GS wouldn’t be able to afford him. Like ya make no sense. Imma need ya to THINK, before ya start regurgitating other people’s talking points. Podz is a good player but he hasn’t shown me anything that warrants the Dubs not shopping him for a talent like Lauri. Cus if they really could’ve gotten Lauri for say Podz, Moody, Looney and a couple of picks, then they really dropped the ball. Steph won a ring with an unproven non all-star to become all-star Wiggins and back from injury Klay. If Wiggins could get anywhere near his ‘22 form, I don’t see as to why Steph wouldn’t be able to contend for another ring w/the addition of a Lauri, Buddy, Kuminga, DeAnthony, & Draymond The Warriors dropped the ball. Plain & simple
@maplenerd22
@maplenerd22 18 дней назад
@@AllStarKydd It's simple. We didn't have to sell the farm for Wiggins. I'm going to need you to THINK before spouting off nonsense. This whole idea that the Jazz just wanted Podz and Moody is a complete farce. You understand this right??? Please tell me you're smart enough to understand this. Danny Ainge had no intention of trading Lauri. He just wanted to see how desperate the Warriors are. If Danny Ainge wanted to trade him, he wouldn't have give an extension for 5 years 238 million dollars. Let me reiterate that so your tiny little brain can comprehend. They gave a 5 year 238 million because that's what Ainge thinks he's is worth. Think about it. Would Danny Ainge wouldn't trade a 5 year 238 million dollar player for Podz, Moody and draft picks. No. You have to be on drugs to actually believe that rumor. So no, the Warriors did not dropped the ball.

I think it was that the overall price was just too high, and they realized that Lauri just didn't move the needle enough. Also, I think they realized that if Danny Ainge was asking a reasonable price, then Lowery was a below reasonable player. If Danny Ainge is asking an unreasonable price, he's trading a rotation player at best. If he's asking for MVP level assets, you're getting a fringe All Star.

The team's past is not it's present, and you can appreciate the history while still cheering on players on their new teams. If GSW don't treat Steph right and he goes, GSW is barely different to the kings to me.
