Stephon Castle's Fit at Point Guard | Spurs Draft | SSPN Clips 

Right now, a lot of Derrick White 2.0 comparisons are being thrown out for players, but out of all of them, Stephon Castle actually has one of the best chances of becoming that -- and maybe more. Castle's the kind of guy not only Pop loves with his defense-first mentality, but also the type of player Brian Wright drafts -- combo guards and wings that are switchable. It's so damn seamless and obvious, I don't know why we even need to debate it. I'm not sure if Castle has Dillingham's star potential/upside but there's certainly a world where if Castle is hitting his 3s, he's the ultimate X factor/glue guy the Spurs have out there making things happen so that Wemby and Vassell can do their thing. He can come in and back Tre Jones up to start the season, get in a lot of reps until Pop is comfortable, and I can see him maybe playing big minutes by season's end, hopefully a play-in push. Castle won't be spending much, if any time in the G-League.

Castle is a SPUR, plain and simple. I saw a video where they were asking some of the draftees, “who would you rather go to a party for, Drake or Kendrick Lamar?” And Stephon said I’m not a fan. If that doesn’t scream Spur, idk what does

If I was Castle I would throw that hint out there too. I mean you are to spend the next 10-15 years of my life so i want to play in an environment i can excel in.

Draft him and have him alternate at PG for one season with Tre. If things don't work out, Spurs can sign/trade for a vet PG

I'd like to see the Spurs get Malcolm Brogdon for a year or another real pro to start as a primary ball handler with Wemby so he has that as an upgrade this year... this would give Castle a chance to develop somewhere in between the first and second unit. Topic and Dillingham are fool's gold as they seem like a good idea right up until they're not. I think if Spurs fans watched every possession on Synergy for either of these guys, knowing Pop and then thinking about what you want paired with Wemby, you'll be happy to let them go elsewhere. Plus, both are legit defensive liabilities and why spend a top 4 pick to have a younger Tre Jones. You have to be concerned that someone drafting ahead of San Antonio will take Castle, like Washington. The draft is weak but there's always two all stars in every draft. San Antonio has a chance to find them.

Manu Ginobili, Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker's shooting were not great prior to joining the Spurs but later improved. They defense and basketball IQ are the ones that are high

The Spurs SHOULD swap #8 with Chicago for #11 in trade that sends Keldon Johnson and Devonte Graham to Chicago for 6'6 Lonzo Ball and 6'5 Alex Caruso. That backcourt gives them DEFENSE, PASSING, BALL HANDLING and OUTSIDE shooting to best accentuate Wemby's game. They should try to move up for Risacher by offering Collins and #4. They should then get Isiah Hartinstien(3 yrs 59M), Bol Bol (2 yrs 20Mand possibly Drummond (3yrs 14M) and Nic Batum(2yrs/ 17M)

Tre's defense is absolutely horrible, every game he gets blown by, posted up, bullied, just about everything you can think of a horrible defender does. So with saying that, I'm not sure anyone is convinced Castle is a point?

Cmon bro. You can’t compare him going to UConn to going to a lottery team. His sacrifice of not playing PG was to go to the FAVORITE to win the championship. NO ONE in the lottery will be the favorite to win the NBA championship. He wants to play PG and there’s no bs on that
