I'm not a historian, but I'd say this song has inspired a whole lotta rock. The first twenty seconds are classic. If there was a scale of 1-10 of most important/rock inspirational songs, I'd say this is an eight, at least.
My dad was an accountant, but he loved this kind of music (much to some people’s surprise). When my sister and I were young, he would take us for drives in his 20 year old Porsche 911, with this song playing at the maximum volume. Such great memories. He unexpectedly passed away on June 3rd, 2022 at age 57. We requested this song to be played at his funeral, but my family forgot we requested it! So when it started playing, everyone instantly burst out into happy laughs and smiles from memories of a bygone era. RIP Dad.
My mum's favourite too, she died in her mid 60s. But if I think of her - this song sums her up - she was fearless! Reckon if she hadn't had children young she'd be back on the road!! Respect to your dad.
On the other hand, my parents were the ones dedicating this song to me 😅 ((wonder why!)) And my mom passed away on 2020. I ended up listening to this song to remind myself that, if my mom said I was ((wild)) I would have any fear at the moment she was gone! And here I am!!! Sorry for your loss and be sure your father is there with you whenever you play this. Some of us know how it feels but...let's keep it wild!!! Hugs!!!
Get your motor running Head out on the highway Lookin' for adventure In whatever comes our way Yeah, darlin', gonna make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once and Explode into space I like smoke and lightning Heavy metal thunder Racin' with the wind And the feeling that I'm under Yeah, darlin', gonna make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once and Explode into space Like a true nature's child We were born, born to be wild We can climb so high I never wanna die Born to be wild Born to be wild Get your motor running Head out on the highway Lookin' for adventure In whatever comes our way Yeah, darlin', gonna make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once and Explode into space Like a true nature's child We were born, born to be wild We can climb so high I never wanna die Born to be wild Born to be wild
@@Therealist6666 my two favorite eras were the 70's and the 90's. One day, in the 90's, I was driving down the street and beautiful young petite girl flagged me down. As soon as she got into my car, wham! She punched me in the jaw. I'm sitting there rubbing it in. lol. I looked at her and I told her that I was in love. I was going to take her to a hotel, but she said she couldn't wait so I pulled over and we went at it right there in public. I started dating her, and she always wanted to do the public. Her name is Dawn. That chic was cool. 🤣
@Nic_world not really. The Americans did bad things in nam. Think about "Get some" in the helicopter with the M60 and the rice farmers... ain't war hell?
Caio, STILL so great a song, I am putting it on my cardio 💪🏽 treadmill playlist to keep me a motivated active participant in the upkeep of my health. 🍎

I honestly love your posts and always enjoy reading them in my lonely spare time. I'm so sorry I invaded your privacy, but I'd love to be friends with someone who could share such sensitive post content, which means you're a woman of integrity. I wanted to add you but sending you a friend request without your consent is inappropriate because I'm a public figure and it wouldn't take much either, I'd appreciate it if you send me a friend request now so we can be friends and text better here on RU-vid❤❤❤
How many folks are bikers because of this film.?? I remember seeing this in about 1969/1970 at the ripe old age of 14. Here I am now aged 62 still riding and listening to steppenwolf. :-)
I did "stage security" for a Steppenwolf show here in Richmond, VA many years ago when I was in my twenties. It was awesome. I was outside their trailer wishing so bad to be on the inside Lol!
Up in Milwaukee at the Summerfest grounds circa 2003, Steppenwolf was playing. John Kay said “all rise for your national anthem.” Then Born to Be Wild kicked off. The venue went off the chains. Great show!
This give me chills! I'm a 66 year old woman, but when I used to ride my Sportster back in the day, I would hear this song in my head! Had to get rid of the bike a few years ago, b/c chemotherapy destroyed my sense of balance. Damn. I miss those days...
Bill Law, yeeaaa I am 69 but will never stop listening to "Born to be wild". I will probably drive them Nuts at the Old Age Home one day. When I take the young Nurses for a spin on my Triumph Rocket3!
That's the power of good music. I haven't heard that song for years and suddenly it just popped in my head during 3 days, and now I'm here to watch the movie clip for the first time. What a great song and era. I wish I was born at the right time to be a youth in 1969.
Never gets old. I'm not a biker - dated a few, but this is one of my all time main life songs. So many different memories attached to it like coming of age and one of my first teen crushes while this song played in the background. Turns out he wound up being an avid biker when he got older and owned a biker clothing and stuff store. Rode for charities. He's passed now - over 20 yrs. Peace, Larry.
RIP Peter. You inspired a generation. I bought a bike and a Canadian flag helmet and set off with my late brother to seek America after seeing this great film. We, fortunately, made it safely home.
Got my father's Harley back from the mechanic yesterday. He passed away 4 years ago and it's been sitting in the barn since. I've always had rockets and never a cruiser. This song was on my mind when I pulled outta the driveway with his Harley. I'll never sell it. Miss you dad so very very much.
I’m getting my late step brother’s 2003 Sportster to go with my Softail. It’s been sitting in a grimy small engine repair shop for 6 years. I’ve been begging his son to let me get it back in the road where it belongs.
I just got my late gramps Sportster going this summer after it sat for 10 years. Id never sell that either, cant beat the feeling when I hear it start up. Reminds me of him every time.
My favourite song from Easy Rider. Brings back memories of seeing this amazing film at Tenby, Pembrokeshire, SW Wales in 1970, with a couple of very good friends. Great times they were, never to be equalled again. Love to see again the amazing Jack Nicholson with Peter Fonda
I don't think many people realize just how important this song is to the history of rock and metal. The metal genre was named after the "heavy metal thunder" lyric, and this is even considered by many to be the first metal song.
Yep....Cult movie...I recall watching it for the very 1st time ( then another 100 times on tv) in a movie theater in 1970 ( I was 13) here in Italy....
Music has no boundaries. When it comes from the heart, the soul and the guts, whatever the genre, it will hits you deep in someways. it resonnates within your cells.
a 1969 song used for a SummerSlam in 2023 crazy how times matter like a 54 year old classic song for a classic logo and a classic upcoming SummerSlam can't wait specially for Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso 🔥🔥🔥
Same for me man, I’m sorry you lost your dad. I don’t mean to sound rude but my dad is still around and he still loves this song. I hope you’re has found peace
My Older Brother took me to the Drive-in to watch this movie, , at 13 years old 1969. , Never got Off my Big Twin Harley since.......Its a way of Life, ....,,,,,,,,,,,Its a Door to the Open Road an Freedom........
Songteksten Get your motor runnin' Head out on the highway Lookin' for adventure And whatever comes our way Yeah Darlin' go make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once And explode into space I like smoke and lightning Heavy metal thunder Racin' with the wind And the feelin' that I'm under Yeah Darlin' go make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once And explode into space Like a true nature's child We were born, born to be wild We can climb so high I never wanna die Born to be wild Born to be wild Get your motor runnin' Head out on the highway Lookin' for adventure And whatever comes our way Yeah Darlin' go make it happen Take the world in a love embrace Fire all of your guns at once And explode into space Like a true nature's child We were born, born to be wild We can climb so high I never wanna die Born to be wild Born to be wild
Easy Rider,. My husband's favorite movie of all time! Born to Be Wild' by Steppenwolf,,his even bestest song! I think he thought this song was written just for him! My husband passed recently, We had a simple service for him. I was asked, what one song would he liked played...And so it was 'Born to be Wild'. Perfect send off to get him on his Harley as he crossed over the Bridge to Motorcycle Heaven. Thank you!
Thank You Very Much for the download . Bring back so many good memories during my teenage days jamming this music on my dad's JVC Vacuum-Tube Wooden Cabinet Stereo Player
TheBonScott33 Glad to hear it.. exactly what I did following a bad one many years ago that wasn't my fault.... It got me through the bad times.. I actually asked my family to bring in the then video I had of the film when I was allowed up off the spinal bed and I would go to the day room that had a tv and video player.. back in late 90's.. I ended up doing the advanced bike test to get my confidence back when I self discharged.... Hope it all works out for you.. I was in the NSIC at Stoke Mandeville, five months following NHS negligence after the accident.... told I would never walk again but ignored that and can stand and move now just limited mobility and heaps of pain, I still ride.. Once it's in the blood to ride it's usually there for life... All the best for a 100% recovery. Keep your sense of humour I was told and it worked.. good advise I am happy to pass on to a fellow fallen rider.
Song reminds me of the best trip of my life, on a ‘89 Honda Goldwing 1500. The ladies I worked with scoffed at the idea of me doing “it” Haha. Rode from Portland, Oregon 🇺🇸 to south central USA. Went along the whole Beartooth Highway between NE Entrance of Yellowstone Nat’l Park all the way to Red Lodge, Montana. Elevations of 11,000’ & mountain tops in every direction “Big Sky’s” all around. Caught hail at the summit in July above tree line, slick hair pin turns all the way back down. Thank you Steppenwolf, for this groovy tune and my chance to “be wild”… ✌️♥️
I took my son to see “Easy Rider” last week on the big screen because I love this movie. Thank you Peter Fonda for this powerful film. It speaks to tolerance, individualism and bravery. I see you now on your bike Captain America. Blessings and strength to your family.
My dad was part of an MC back in the day and one of my earliest memories was him taking me around the block on the fuel tank of his '95 Fat boy. Suffice to say that when I got my first MP3 player, this was one of the first songs he helped me put in it and I used to play it while on my bicycle. Fast forward to now, the song STILL plays in my head while I'm taking the Harley's out.
I'm a 23 years old laws student... I'm trying hard with my career and fighting to get my title but also... I'm savin some money to get my first bike, and when the time comes... I"ll put loud this song to remember that I did it... Edit: I got the Law degree bachelor recently but ain't got the bike yet hahaha now I am totally focused on get the bike 😅
breast fed babies are more prone to have more spiritual excitement in their lives other than base normy consciousnesses./neglected gmo nwo babies. ignorant narcissists, msm is their god,.. anderson wcooper is a prophet,.. excetera.
Celebrated my 70th birthday in Port A on Texas coast last weekend and beach DJ asked what song I wanted played. Without skipping a heartbeat, this one exploded in my head. Been feeling the wind in my (now thinned) hair for 53 years. Right after the snare cracks open the song, I'm 18 and a true nature child...
