In early 2023, a blood clot surgery resulted in an unexpected above-knee amputation for Meri Bennett. Unfortunately, Meri’s health insurance became inactive while she was out of work, impacting her ability to afford a prosthetic leg.
Thankfully, there are organizations, like Steps of Faith, who help uninsured and underinsured amputees get the prosthetic limbs they need.
With the support of her prosthetist Ashley Eaton at Hanger Clinic in Kansas City, Meri applied for Steps of Faith’s assistance. Within three weeks, she had been approved and was walking on her first prosthetic leg.
