I was born in 1994 and started watching Steptoe and son when I was 2 years old and have been hooked ever since. I was born in the wrong era and don't fit into the bullshit we live in now.
Such great acting from both of them in this one.. The way that Harold looks away in slight pain, regret and disappointment when Albert tells him that he's rented his room out to a lodger. So subtle but says so much.
I remember as a young tacker sitting on my mum or dads knee, watching Steptoe and son, it was a time when both parents were laughing and not shouting,me and my sister were allowed to stay up until 9pm which was mmmassive for a little 7year old lady, well,I'm an old fart according to my mates kuds however,I still love these episodes, and I like to think that whenever I watch one on RU-vid, my folks are watching down and still laughing,it's a lovely memory and I can relive it episode by episode many thanks RU-vid for making it happen, cheers 🍻 Robbie Renalson Devonport Tassie
I am a fan, but re-watching the entire back catalogue recently, I feel we sometimes look back with rose-tinted speaks - there were a lot of really poor episodes and a lot of repeated plot. I put this episode towards the better efforts, with 4/5 really, really excellent episodes in total.
I was bond 1968, Steptoe an son came to our telly 📺 I think 62 when they started the show it was d 70,s when I frist got to know steptoe an son They became part of my life watching them eath week was like getting now homework 😂😂 thay we're the best tell aviation at that time still to this day I look forward to putting them on an getting a good old laugh 😃 😅greg p from 🇮🇪Ireland Dublin 8 🇮🇪
Yes, the laughing was great. I hadto wait till I left home to get to see them. No TV allowed in our house! And they were so like my Hubby's Family !! ❤
The chances of a comedy written this well ever appearing again are near on impossible. The chances of a comedy ever being acted so well is never going to happen again for as long as the sun shines.
Back then it was us and them and for the them it was them and us, then the them moved here and now we can't be an us any more but the them can still be a them and us
Yep. It's historically accurate (add no dogs and no Irish too) but I'm glad we've moved on. Seems like some in the UK are intent in dragging us back to these grim times, sadly.
I don't think it would just be the politically correct 😂. As much as I like SAS, the world has moved on from such terminology - it doesn't make a blind bit of difference to the humour either
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
