When I heard the original version of Float On by the floaters in 1977 that was a song that I never got tired of in the year 1988 I can say one of the finest rap groups ever came out with bad version of float on it was like having two girlfriends at the same time and you had to make a decision which one you like the best the year is now 2021 and guess what I'm still stuck with two girlfriends and I'm still stuck with trying to decide which version of float on that I like the best the original 1977 version of Float On by the floaters or the 1988 version of float on by super rap group Stetsasonic 😀

I was 14 when I went to the record store and bought this album on cassette in Boston, MA. I bought it for Sally Walk, but when I popped it in and heard this classic, my life changed immediately. I felt joy happiness and tears of joy and I still do. Most solo rappers can do a song with an R&B artist, but when two bands collaborate they create fireworks ❤🎉😂🎉❤🎉! This song didn’t get the recognition it deserved then and deserves now. I can put this track on repeat for the entire weekend.

Man 1989, Stetasonic had been on so many projects 1.Self Destruction, 2.Float On feat Force MDS (Floaters remake) 3.I Ain't Makin' It from the Lean On Me SDTK. But this remake sounded so dope when Stetasonic were taking over 1989 at my third grade session at age 9.

So this was the song that Tommy Davidson was singing blindfolded while Wanda was on top of him during the Living in color skit.....lol....

This was in the era when rappers was making love songs to capture the female listeners.. it was pretty cool to see the softer side of the rap game..and this was one of the best I actually heard Stet's Float On on the Quiet Storm on Power 99 fm in Philly one night..and I gotta give credit to UTFO for starting this trend with their song Fairy Tale Lover that kick started this whole movement..RIP to Kangol Kid
