I know that Isaiah Thomas was physically the most talented point guard Bob Knight ever had. But l have to stress that if we are talking about college basketball ONLY l would have Steve Alford as my all time starting point guard not only for Indiana but for all of the time l have watched college basketball. Isaiah Thomas would be the 2 guard on my all time team. Steve Alford is the best point guard to ever play college basketball to me
I'm super grateful you uploaded this. After reading Season on the Brink for the third time I couldnt have been any happier to find these highlights of next years 87 team. What a shot by Keith Smart and I love the no timeout approach of Bob Knight in endgame situations. Just another possession after 1000s of hours of practice reps. Still it was crazy that Smart had the guts to take that shot with Alford on the floor. After playing it back a few times it was the right decision. Thats the shot players practice their whole life, a one dribble mid range pull-up. Countlese reps fading, leaning, etc pretending its a buzzer beater. Just an amazing shot that was pure from the moment it left hid hand. Thanks again for this amazing upload. That Steve Alford was an incredible player and I'm glad I got to see it this time. Awesome editing job. Ill surely watch it again the next time I read the book in a few years.
Knight said in an interview that this team played the final 5 minutes of games as well as any team that he has ever coached. He completely trusted them in end game situations.
