Man, that good ole Goodall sure has put in some faithful service! What could be better than a great sounding old guitar in the hands of a Master like Steve Baughman? I attended one of his guitar clinics years ago, and Steve is a great teacher- so relaxed and fun, even with my primitive guitar skills, I learned a lot. Applause for Steve!
He's got the same guitar I do! I'd recognize that bridge anywhere! 'Tis a James Goodall, and it's pretty old. Mine was built in 1985 and looks identical. More importantly, he makes that guitar sing! Just beautiful in every way. I will definitely be looking for more of his playing.
Wow, I'm so glad to have discovered these clips and "Bill Malleys Barndance". I've since got my mittens on the album "A Drop Of The Pure", which most or all of these feature on. It's strange that he seems to be stereo micing with Dynamic mics though? Do they catch more room ambience or such?
Hello Steve, it is a wonderful music you make and of course your guitar playing is one of the best there (this is my personal opinion). I have your book Celtic Fingerstyle guitar and the only complaint I have is the fact the the tuning are rather low for my guitar (the guitar tends to sound a little bit out of key). Have you ever thought of going DADGAD for a change. Thanks anyway and good look (try a Mcilroy guitar is my advice). Igor
Igor It does sound off pitch. I tried putting round-wound (jazz guitars use them usually) on a dreadnaught and it produced a similar tone. What guitar tuning is used in this video?
You may find the tabs on "World of celtic fingerstyle guitar". BCtA is in EABEBC#, RtC CGDGCD, b.m. Barndance in EABEBB ( not too sure about the latter ). Make sure that you're using medium or heavy gauge strings.
