Once when Blackmen had just come back from 'Nam. He was hitching through Oregon and some cop started harassing him. Next thing you know, he had a whole army of cops chasing him through the woods! He had to take 'em all out--it was a bloodbath! THEY DREW FIRST BLOOD!!!
Blackman looks like an action hero. Matter of fact, he's so badass he makes that American Eagle shirt look intimidating. Dude should've headlined some action movies in the 90's-2000's. I could actually believe him being a stone cold assassin rather than Seagal.
Steve Blackman would have been great on Trailer Park Boys as Julian's really straight-laced cousin who always carries a glass of chilled mineral water with ice.
Steve Blackman is a great guy. As down to earth as you can get. We run across each other from time to time on the job. I don't even think he knows me by name, but he will still stop and talk. My son took his classes in Harrisburg, thats how I met him. The most approachable dude around. People say alot about the Rasslin Industry, but Steve is a true professional in the ring, and outside the ring. He doesn't patronize himself with the circus circuit of the Industry.
Im from Steve's hometown. Hes very scary if you don't know him. Kinda a dick at times...but I'd never say that to his face. He's added so much to his community and he'll always be the legend
Best part of the story is Owen running out desperately to try to cover up his own tracks before security gets there lol. I met Owen and talked to him for a couple hours one night when I snuck into the locker room - long story.....trust me: amazingly nice guy. Stood and talked to a punk kid who had no business being there - still in his gear from the main event after everyone else had left.
The epitome of the silent assassin. A real nice guy who would help you fix your tire on Monday and rip someone's guts out on Tuesday. And never break a sweat doing either thing.
I remember to present time fondly of the majority of those guys before and during the attitude era. Steve Blackman might not of been your typical Stone Cold Steve Austin in popularity terms.... but Steve had a short time in the wwf, and even 2020s as a nostalgia only wrestling fan, there isn't a day what goe's by i recall characters like him. It was such a unique era that 1997-2001 time.
Yeah man Blackman was very underrated he should’ve had a better run during the Attitude Era and even when he returned for the Raw 15th Anniversary battle royal he still looked amazing!
@@GlovanniSalvatierra Yes i do recall seeing that battle royal.... i'm not sure from my memory... didn't he have an injury prevented him from making a full comeback?
@@ComicBookGuy420 Yeah good hardcore run that SummerSlam 2000 match with Shane McMahon was pretty awesome definitely deserved at least an Intercontinental title run tho.
As a young black belt in Shotocan Steve Blackman was someone I always recognized as a absolute unit capable of handling himself above many of his peers who had more professional exposure outside of his craft.
@@browneyemastermind To be honest he started pro wrestling I believe the year after I graduated high school. But my sensei at the time was all about Blackman and showed us videos after session waiting for our rides but I honestly cant tell you if they were from tourneys or not. I'm 45 now so not that much detail about the videos I really recall. I do remember him being a one man unit though. I always believed that most of his power comes from his technique more than his physical strength even though he had plenty of it. But anytime you combine technique with power and speed it's always devastating.
Bro, i remember walking down the street in Harrisburgh, PA and i saw blackman with his wife. I always thought he was a small guy watching him on WWE, but seeing him up close scared the shit out of me. I never seen a man with his physique up close and he was pretty tall and muscular. Not to mention he had a natural mean face, lmao! I was too scared to say hi to him. He was still in the WWE during the time i saw him.
Blackman, Pillman, Benoit and Wellington beating up some hockey players! Also don't doubt Pillman whooping five guys in a bathroom, Pillman was legit tougher than most wrestlers pre injury.
This is actually real hard but from my POV probably Haku, Blackman, Lesnar, Shamrock not the best category but I put it this way just from their backstage fights I’ve heard them all have
It’ll take me a bit I’m trying to gather more interesting stories from shoots I’m watching multiple shoots but I’ll definitely get around to it give me a few days!
@@ForeverYoungKickboxer that's really awesome. His story and comeback inspires me and he's a hero of mine. When I had aspirations of competing in martial arts I wanted to use his theme actually lol.
@@thewhitewolf7886 he ran pro wrestling gym in a PowerHouse gym back in the 90s when I was kickboxing and bouncing. That is where I met him and was humbled by him, lol. A huge guy able to move with such agility and speed blew my pre-internet mind. 20 years later we reconnected after my divorce. He ran an MMA gym in Harrisburg, had some great fighters, several UFC competitors, one you may know Dennis The Menace Bermudez trained there. Those were the best days of my life. 40 years old, in killer shape, winning ammy mma titles, training with young warriors. Ran into Steve last year at a grandson's all start football game. He still looks great. He inspired me agai, so at 53 I'm fighting again. Check me out on Streetbeefs. Forever Young is my fight name. Hope you are training and best of luck in whatever you are doing brother!
@@ForeverYoungKickboxer very impressed, my friend. Your backfists are absolutely nasty lol I'd hate to be on the receiving end of those. Keep kicking ass and never taking names!
You are in a bar the night after WrestleMania and Flair has had too much to drink and started an all out brawl, and blamed the whole thing on you. Blackman, Lesnar, Haku, and Shamrock, are all present. Two are trying to kill you, and two will protect you. Who do you have on your side? (And maybe, just maybe, Teddy Long will pop out from the men's bathroom and make a TAG TEAM MATCH, PLAYA! HOLLA, HOLLA HOLLA!)
The hockey fight he is talking about is the either with players from the French vet league or the fight with players from the ECHL. When they say hockey players you think NHL. That is not who they fought
