That man is a genius. I have laughed more often, harder and for longer at this man’s hilarious, intelligent and sometimes slightly tragic comedy than any other comic from any other time.

Genius is a word that is bandied about too lightly by people who have struck the word "excellent" from their vocabulary and who lack a sense of proportion. Even if we limit ourselves to the British Isles, that country has so many comedians of the same talent and stature as Coogan that to claim he somehow surpasses them is ludicrous. If we were to believe YT commenters, the world is chock-full of underrated geniuses.

Yes, I've always loved our British humor, their style, clever cadence, cheeky double talk, beautiful pace control, best story telling, unabashed tongue in cheek elbow you in your side, take no prisoners, life celebrating comedians! Steve Coogan is an absolute genius, my Mother passed away recently and I found Alan Partridge the only thing I could watch to keep me sane and laugh again. The writers the ideas and Steve as Alan is brilliant, thank you so much 🎉❤😂

This is a wonderful speech. There were many in the audience who were stoney faced but there was some laughter in the audience. The thing for me is that wherever ever you are in the world, you can watch and enjoy it now!

Saw Coogan in the Witchwood venue in Ashton under Lyne late 80’s did a cracking stand up set, always remember the Spaghetti western skit, where he did the out of sync audio, genius 😎

Yeah I was half expecting it when he mentioned Armando Ianucci and Peter Baynam from the day today crew, but I think he was thanking them because they co-wrote his first few Alan Partridge series, which made him successful. Chris Morris only cameo'd in I'm Alan Partridge, he didn't write for him (that I'm aware of).

Good to see that Coogan retains his sense of humour and isn't so fearful of poilitcal correctness that he can't make fun of it. On the downside... ...it's a shame to see how uncomfortable so many were with his initial lines. Either they're SJWs who were fuming or people who were simply too terrified to laugh in case it looked like they weren't towing the socjus line. Anyway, well done Mr Coogan; funny speech and, by today's standards, brave :)

I didn't know his dad passed. His father came round to our house in Middleton in the early 70's to borrow records of my mom and dad, we the family lived in Middleton from 70 until 75 returning back to the Midlands, my father had a hotdog company in Kemp Street, we lived in Silk Street across the road from the newly built Woolco. The boy Coogan, he done well! a fan for life here, he can do no wrong............. well almost, Tony Ferrino was/is Shite.
