Sage wisdom not just for a life in the studio but as an instrumental musician in general. Build each other up and in the end we all win. Steve Cropper is a national treasure.
Great example of someone whose personality (integrity, humility, love for fellow) permeates playing style and music (master at supporting the song and other players).
It's such a blessing that Steve has so embraced the RU-vid era. It's endlessly valuable to hear his perspective and insights. Like many, his playing impacted and influenced me greatly, so it's life affirming to see that the joy I felt in his guitar is an extension of the man. I don't play music in necessarily the same style of the music that he played, but I like to think that I speak from the same honest place; listening and building upon my fellow musicians' ideas. Thank you for sharing this with us!
The only way you should be able to call someone a legit influencer is by certain abillities. This man was not just able of playing, he can write, cooperate, arrange, lead a band and so on and be humble at the same time. Because he's way more skilled than one thinks. He'll get a statue. True legend and inspiration. 🙏🏽
I ran over my first bass, which was a Peavey Patriot from 1985, didn't even knock it out of tune. I had locked my keys in the car, in the ignition after a rehearsal. Finally got a coat hanger to open the door got in turned on the car and backed up right over my bass. Didn't open the case until the next day and it was fine. American workmanship back in those days. I now have seven or eight Peavey basses.
Great attitude and approach to music. .... when I pickup the guitar, I can only be me... I can only add my part, to the whole musical puzzle. Great video, Mr Cropper!🎵🎩🎵🎩🎵
Learn from the best and listen to what they say. I’ve liked Steve’s music for decades it’s only recently that I found out who he was it was a shock when I did.
I'm 77 and have been playing guitar since I'm 12. I have always followed Steve and learned his stuff. You know he plays the dots. After all these years I found out that he only played the telecaster in the second position. So much of what he says is perfect for people who play guitar. We all have to copy somebody, he's a good place to begin.
Absolute humble legend in the sea of ego mania that is the music industry. Watched the Blues Brothers again lost count how many times lve watched it my favourite movie of all time God bless you Steve.
I blame golf for the gross mistreatment of Steve’s guitar! Got to agree about ego too many folks walk around saying how creative they are and they sell people garbage.
OMG! I could listen to Steve talk for hours. Everything he said is something we should all strive for. I'm 62 and I've been playing guitar since I was 7, and gigging since I was 16. It's as if Steve reached in my brain and pulled out everything I want to do. Listen to other members and compliment them, and not try to show off. It took me years to realize that. Once I did, I started to get more gigs and more offers to play in other bands. And he's so right about the Telecaster. I have my Les Paul and Stratocaster, but I always seem to go back to the Telecaster. Leo Fender got it right the first time. Steve, you are one in a million. If you ever get out to the Central Valley in California, I'd like to take you out to dinner to the best steakhouse around, and just listen to your words of wisdom.
Thanks for thinking about the kids ....Talking of kids when I was one your and I heard your outro on Stone Cold Sober .....It is one of my all time favourites
i wish someone would ask Steve about why he uses the red knob twins live. he's usually plugged into the "blend hole" as I call it. love to hear him talk about these often maligned amps that are one of my favorites as well because of that feature. my understand was that a person keeps two of those alive in Nashville as Steve's stage back line. one is a spare. he is such a cool guy. so positive. so humble. one of my favorites. cheers!
