Brighton fan here. Playing against us for Wolves at the old Goldstone Ground, he gave one of the most imperious midfield performances I've seen. His range of passing was breathtaking.

Speaking as a Wolves Fan, this was GREAT business for us! We bought Andy Gray with the money! But things soon went sour and we ended up almost giving Andy Gray away for £100,000 to Everton - not be because he was no good anymore, but because we were going bust.

No disrespect to Steve but (did he say) a 10 year contract at city? No wonder the club was a shambles at the time.

What the posters are missing is the number of top players that City sold before he even turned up. Channon, Hartford, Owen, Donachie(retired I think). In short he turned up to nothing. He was a fabulous player and City wasted him.

You have to admire his honesty, and he never once blames anyone else for it not working out at City
