The audiobook is a gift of sound. Its great to hear his voice and the voice of others in his book. I am a new fan and the more I hear and see, the more of a fan I become. The honesty and humour is fresh. The book feels like a genuine conversation. heartwarming and super informative.
How can you not love Steve? I loved this - he cracks me up. He’s such a sensitive guy and really cares about people. I got the audio and paperback of his book / audio best as he is reading it. On my bucket list to meet. Steve, if you see this, thank you for so many years of beautiful music and for just bring you. The world needs more people like you. ❤️
"In response to Steve's "you're probably not watching because you're working." Many of us here are like me, watching this after working all day, or...GASP tendonitis in both wrists from over working, and video time is cool down time. :)
Met Steve after a Toto concert in San Diego where he signed my guitar. There were a number of signatures on the axe already and when asked, he looked at the guitar and asked "Who else you have on here"? when I fired off some of the signers, he answered "And you want me to sign"? "Hell Yes"! I said.
Steve Lukather is an amazing human being, who thankfully returned a short email that I had sent him when I was going through a very difficult time/divorce a few years ago..and he spoke to me from his heart because he could relate as a human being and cared. I love you as a musician and a person and can understand how a person could be hardened by the stupidity some people spew online, especially what you were speaking of during this interview. Thank you for taking the time to speak to me from your experience and share to another. Fan and friend for life!
Luke is a awesome guy. I love how he didn't let fame go to his head like some celebrities did and blow it all on drugs and getting into legal trouble because of it. He has always remained a very humble and grateful man. He isn't afraid to admit that he messed up and never ever has any ill words or feelings towards both of his exes or of anyone that has done him wrong.
Luke’s kids are so fortunate to have such an amazing dad, music totally aside..such a warm ,humorous, loving, humble man - a man that could be totally the opposite with the level of fame and talent he has…god bless the Lukather family 🙏🙏
I could honestly sit and listen to Luke talk all day. This guy is just a born entertainer - the most fascinating life, and always from his beautiful heart and soul. Can't wait to have my own copy of this - volume 1 of 6! :) And if Peter Gabriel's people are reading this - Steve Lukather wants to work with you!
Steve Lukather’s a great human being as well as a great musician, has a very interesting life and is generous sharing his story. I love the guy, and the book.
Luke, you are a one of a kind. One of the greatest guitarist ever..an awesome singer (that never gets credit) and a great interview. Im gonna buy this book. Toto is part of the soundtrack to my life. Look forward to the stories.
Sorry to hear about the bus accident and the injuries that came from it........We are all grateful you choose to endure the pain and keep playing instead of the surgeries that could have robbed you of your abilities. Tough and painful call to make for the love of playing.
Wow, what a down to earth guy...not one bad bone in his body. He is a living legend not showing it one second. A great talent and a great soul. Love Luke and Toto❤
Wow! Recently had the opportunity to meet him and he was super nice, humble and really funny. Amazing career. That Les Paul dad story was great! His dad made a great investment!!!! This will be a great read! Can't wait!
If anyone hates Steve's book and hates Steve as a musician and a human being needs to have their head examined. He has to be the most humble and grateful person ever. Lukather is not afraid to admit his faults but doesn't dwell in them as most rock musicians or any musician for that matter does. Like he said he didn't want this book to be one where people's feelings were going to get hurt and things said that should of been said. To me somethings are better left unsaid or unspoken. I finally purchased the audiobook on Audibles and loved his ability to tell his story and be himself. I definitely recommend anyone that hasn't purchased either the hard copy or audio version of his book, go get it. I can't wait for book 2. It should be called Gospel According to Luke: The Session Years
He really is a modern day Sammy Davis Jr. Sammy was outspoken and controversial while at the same time the coolest dude ever. It’s no wonder he is such an icon to Luke.
I just finished reading Luke’s book & thoroughly enjoyed it, it’s funny I knew of Toto’s great music, but didn’t really didn’t know about Steve until I saw them with YES in the Atlanta area. I’ve always been enamored with YES and I still am but I’ve been watching many of Luke’s interview & like his book he’s brilliantly funny & talented & humble. GOD BLESS You, Your Family & Friends Luke, your a great one!!!
Just ordered the book fromn Amazon (after dodging their "sign up to Prime" crap). Over the past 30 years, your guitar has been a constant in the "good stuff". Thank you. Oh, and keep up the fart/poo jokes, the world needs them more than ever :O)
Steve is the man! So humble and talented with such an amazing career. His attitude toward Twitter and social media is so true and refreshing to hear! Trolls and snarky jerks ruin it for everyone. It's one thing to have constructive criticism. But to just be a jerk? C'mon!
If i could just play 1% as good as Steve I would be amazed. Lol.. Absolutely one of my top favorite guitarist’s and really enjoy his interviews. Def will get this book !
5-years later I am a little saddened to say that dear Steve does not sound nearly so upbeat in interviews recorded in the last couple of months. His new solo album is fantastic, so that’s good. But he definitely seems to have a bounce in his step in this video that is now absent. He has alluded cautiously to some things that have darkened his life a little lately, and I’m genuinely really concerned for him. I think he’s a wonderful human being and I wish him every single continuing success in life that can possibly be wished upon another. ✊❤️✌️
I agree! I wonder if his breakup with Amber has anything to do with it. He seemed so happy and upbeat. He mentioned her in every interview he did during lockdown. He even wrote a song about her and featured her in the music video. I pray that love finds him again!
The most underrated band of all time. One of the best guitar players of a generation. Versatility, feel, and skill. Thank you Luke for all the memories....from a NH., Van Nuys native. You are a humble and amazing person too. God Bless.
Soy de panama y me encanta luke su personalidad es gracioso claro como musico espectacular! Y yo QUIERO leer su libro! En verdad amo a este hombre! Ojalá algun dia, pueda, conocerlo!! I love him
@36:30 thru 37:05 Luke forgets to sign the book. I wish i would have gotten that one. LOL. I'm sure they checked them all. Great Video. Yeah check that out he just got caught up in the question. :) LOL he does it again @44:45 to 44:55.
I ordered from here, ended up getting my book yesterday Oct. 21, my book has a pasted label with signature, not what I wanted at all. I wanted one of these first signings. Hope the book is good.
HI my name is Stephen and I really enjoyed this interview. I'm really amazed at how well Steve Lukather plays. He is truely one of a kind. It's cool that he is also a family man. How would I go about obtaining an aotographed 8x10. Thank you Sir
Fucking Hahahahahaha!!!!"Sphincter tightening" Hahahahahaha!!! Leave it to a guitar player! Its not a white knuckle moment! Or biting your lip! Hahahaha!! What a fucking funny dude! Got to get that book!
Guitar legend. He said he was born at Cedars Sanai. Not totally true, cause i was born at Cedars of Lebanon (the old location that's now a Scientology building), so Steve must have been born there too - as the Cedars Sanai didnt move to its current location til 1976
hard to get past the old man rocker hair that simply looks ridiculous...that said, good book...enjoyed it...the North Hollywood area of So Cal in the 70s was an INSANE pool of talent...kratom for pain...DEA is trying to ban this botanical, but it is a natural cure!
