Those guitars in display cases owner will die eventually. And they will trickle back into the market... Keeping really clean specimens around for a long time. There are single collections with dozens of bursts per.... One with nearly 100 bursts.. In a single collection... .
@Taurencowpew
@Taurencowpew 3 года назад
@@ryans9029 Dirk Ziff's collection is the perfect example of Bursts being lost to musicians. Don't expect any of those guitars to even be seen by the public again. And that probably includes the "Beano Burst" - although no-one will admit it. The best instruments lost to musicians, because rich people like valuable things.

Luke is a great guitarist! I bet he could make a $2000 Les Paul sound almost that good. It’s all in his touch, feel , phrasing & licks. If wishes were horses I’d like to see Luke and Gary Moore (RIP) play, that would’ve been cool. His Rosanna lake was short and fantastic and his plane on Boz Scaggs breakdown dead ahead was incredible too. I said hi to him at the house of blues where Steve Morris was playing in 1996.

Do people think they're "overrated" by rich players who big them up a bit too much and that the players are what make them sound so good, or do people think that original bursts are actually a cut above everything else? I'm a Telecaster/Gretsch guy myself but it'd be cool to hear what other players think.

Jay Studio to be brutally honest, I think a nice amp plays a big part in the sound :) original 50s Les Pauls are very cool but there is a hype about them :) it’s not like every modern guitar is bad sounding compared to one :) and the price is better :) one thing that really baffles me is the guys who go crazy over original Klon pedals and pay crazy amounts for them? the pedal is a pretty simple design! and not interesting to look at!
