I have always appreciated Dick Cavett’s talents as an interviewer. Way back, when I was a kid, I knew he was someone special. Thank you for all of these interviews. They hold up beautifully.

Leap Of Faith is a great movie and has perhaps Steve Martin's greatest performance. When it flopped I believe that was when he decided, "Why am I killing myself in films when no one appreciates what I'm doing?" which I think is when he started making the kind of harmless movies anyone could make (Father of the Bride and its sequel? Really). When I saw Leap Of Faith I thought, "It may take years but one day people will realize how great this movie is." More than 20 years later people started performing it on stage because it has that signature character that Steve Martin performed so brilliantly and it has an ending which leaves you thinking and wanting to talk about it with someone.

Steve Martin, a good actor, competent banjo player and a very funny and entertaining man. Yet, the sad part is, after death, Steve Martin will best be remembered for being the man who, for 30 years, looked like a 60 year old.

How Dick has evolved in later years- he referenced God and the Bible without contempt or sarcasm twice in one interview! Amazing!!

FWIW Steve was there to promote Faith Healer - hence the reference to God “striking one of us down”

have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rarities much like these.

Steve Martin seemed slightly arrogant in this interview or is that just me.I know that performers Often go through that Type of mindset and then end up snapping out of it later
