Steve's godfather was Les Paul, the master builder of guitars. He taught Steve a ton of guitar tricks! You seemed to really appreciate them! Steve Miller is a classic, and he should be headlining the show with Journey and Def Leopard, c'mon now. At a Prep High School in Texas Steve was roommates with another famous musician, Boz Scaggs.

damn - did not even know steve was still alive - let alone still playing. he'll be 80 this oct. his album 'number five' was pretty much found in every rocker's collection back in '70 - including mine. great record. never mind - he's 80 already - keep forgetting it's 2024 already !
This was probably a bigger hit because it came with a video in the height of the MTV broadcasting so it had an advantage over some of his earlier music.

In terms of what they're likely to play, it's kind of difficult because they have so many but ones that I think you would enjoy that were mega hits for sure were Jet Airliner, Keep On Rocking Me Baby, Take the Money and Run.
Just saw Steve Miller last summer...he was amazing. The band that was supposed to open for him must have not been able to make the rescheduled show so he had Kingfish open up for him. Wonderful night :)
MANY great offerings out there from Steve Miller Band. I've seen him live a few times, he's fantastic. I remember winning a 45rpm single of this song at a school dance in grade 8! This song came later, so it was not included on the 71-78 greatest hits album
If you choose to react to Fly Like an Eagle, be sure you pick the full length/ album version... the sound effects are ethereal, every stoners fave! For more chill/ mellow Steve, try "Wild Mountain Honey" and "In The Wintertime". ☮️
I don’t think any two of his songs are a like but all great. If you want something completely different, try Seasons. I’ve heard it used to make people weep, in a good way of course. As far as I’m concerned you are the new gold standard in your business ! Keep it up. Makes me smile.
You really should check out the official video. The visuals and lyrics go together perfectly. For some reason SMB gets overlooked and underappreciated. They have so many great hits and is one of my favorite bands from the 70's and into the 80' and 90's. One of their best catchy songs is "Keep on Rockin' Me Baby". I'd rather see them than the other bands you mentioned that's going to be at the concert you are going to. Have fun, but not too much fun. LOL
This is my favorite single by them. Their first 6 albums were great but after "The Joker" he concintrated on singles and his albums had lotsa filler songs. The people that bought his first 6 lps are a different bunch that bought the later lps much like Rod Stewart after Maggie Mae or Fleetwood Mac after Buckingham & Nicks joined. They all lost most their original fans.
A lot of bands have to go overseas not only for success but even to make money. There's a band from around my area here in Kentucky called Black Stone Cherry and they live and record here and they play a few shows in the United States but most of their live gigs are played at festivals in europe during the summertime and fall. They are huge over there and it's hard to get them played on the radio over here. If you want to play some Black Stone cherry look them up and play blame it on the boom boom first that'll get you in the mood to listen to Black Stone Cherry 🙂
