I'm an Australian, and on a trip to London many years ago, I wanted to take the time to visit the final resting place of Marc Bolan (Mark Feld) at Golders Green. It was an honor and a privilege because I had been greatly influenced by the music of T Rex. Thank you for sharing.
I'm glad someone took the time to visit Steve's grave. Great musician, if he stayed of drugs who knows how far he would have got. I visited his grave a couple of years ago. Another who died too soon.
Loved Steve Took he was such a great singer and musician It's still so sad what happened but I still listen to all the great Tyrannosaurus Rex albums to this day
It doesn’t matter how many times we hear that a life is lost due to drugs, it’s still a crying shame. Always leaving thoughts of what could of been! Another interesting video, thanks Paul. ❤
it must be such a stressful profession being a songwriter and a musician the amount of band members that sadly have passed way to young they certainly have left us with fantastic music.
WOW, Just watched again your Marc Bolan Memorial and Beautiful wooden Bench a couple of days ago ..And now His Guitarist.... Be watching that tonight...Cheers Paul...
I think all the best talent often comes from troubled souls, it’s almost a given that’s lot of the most successful artists over the years have had problems with addictions or other issues It is very sad they don’t get to shine for too long, but whilst they are here they build a legacy that far outlives them We should celebrate that they were here at all 👏🏻
Used to love T Rex thier music was superb from hits like Ride A White Swan, Telegram Sam, Get It On etc. Like you stated Paul it's a shame how many brilliant musicians we have lost for whatever reason, at such young ages. Thank you for this video Paul, respect as always mate.
It was super fan, the late Susan Hibberd who ran the Steve Peregrin Took Appreciation Society and raised awareness amongst his family for the gravestone to be erected in the 1990s. Respect to Susan and may she RIP.
Boy you must of been there early ,that’s a very busy very full cemetery, the two !excellent musicians are well loved ,T Rex the best, those guys were starting out when I was a baby so listened to them much later on in life ,wow what a sound what a buzz ,thank you Paul good write up very well done.keep up the great work (spokesman for those who can no longer speak for themselves.)children of the revolution baby.
That was fascinating, Paul, thanks. Me and my mates went to the Woburn Music Festival in July 1968. Jimi Hendrix was headlining. The four of us eighteen-year-old lads drove there in my mate’s Austin A35. Other acts that day included Family, Gino Washington and the Ram Jam Band and Tyrannosaurus Rex. Remembered Marc sitting cross-legged at the front of the stage while Steve Took did lots of percussion stuff standing to Marc’s left. Wonderful stuff. Jimi and The Experience were late arriving, apparently due to the UK customs pulling their amps and speakers apart searching for strange herbal substances. Gino kept everyone entertained until the main man turned up. Jimi was extraordinary. Never seen anything like him in my life. When night fell, it started to get a bit nippy, and I recall some people upending Walls ice cream stall and making a bonfire with it. What a tremendous evening it was, and even though I am now 73, I will never forget.
I was a friend of Duncan [sandy] Sandison, the bass player of the Pink Fairies, we worked in Camden sadly he died about five years ago in the Royal free in Hampstead, I also remember seeing Tyrannosaurus rex at the Crystal palace bowl, Rod Stewart and the faces were the other support band and Pink Floyd were the main act
Years ago someone was selling a tone bender pedal that was used by marc and was signed at the bottom by all the members of t rex.the guy wanted 8k for it i wish i bought it.great legend rip.🙏👍👍🙏🙏🎸🎸🎸🎸🙏👍🎸
Great vid t rex first band I seen live Birmingham odeon 1972 ish me sister took me I was nine they came on started with Deborah all these girls started screaming wish i could have that gig again
My late brother was a huge T-REX fan , and I remember how gutted he was when Marc and Steve passed away. Every time I hear them on the classic rock station here in the states, I always think of my big bro . Cheers as usual for the great video Paul, take care.
What a real shame.Once again it makes you wonder what he could have gone on to achieve as he sounded an incredibly talented man.Another gone too soon.Thank you for telling his story.xx
Hi Paul, Another great video. I can only echo the thoughts of yourself and many of the other channel members comments, taken too young. It’s sad that so many of the icons of what was probably the golden age of Pop music used their new found wealth to invest in drugs and live for today with seemingly no acknowledgment that they could have a future. A total waste of talent. Keep ‘em coming.
Thank you for this Paul, Trex never to be but forever loved. Such a waste of a life 31? No age.. it's such a shame some go down the drugs road.. Rip Steve xx
What a bizzare cause of death! I had to go and look it up, because I wasn't sure I heard correctly. Still a shame, and another young one. Thanks Paul 🤗
Hi Paul how are you this evening 😊 looking forward so much to this video as I was a massive fan of T. Rex bk in the 70s🤩 Marc Bolan was my idol of course posters all over my bedroom wall 🥰 absolute Legends in the day ❤️ I've seen the video of Marc Bolan grave and shrine so beautiful 🌹💞 yeah this video is going to be really good thank you for sharing Paul another Legend gone way to soon Steve Took RIP 🙏🏻🌹🕊️🎸🎤💕 had to share this 👍🏻👍🏻
Poor boy.. hes been dead longer than alive.. I hate it when we see subsided gravestones.. it looked a bit unkept.. such a shame.. everything to live for.. but yet again the drugs took over and that was the end of him.. you do such a fantastic job Paul..I hope hes at rest ... xxx
Hi Paul that was another amazing video of Steve took awesome many thanks for the wonderful work you do truly truly thoughtful of you to give us all information letting us know who still with us an who left us keep up the good work Paul your super super amazing many thanks Paul Martin
Your face is very similar to the great David Beckham. Nice video and thanks for all the interesting info. I hope one day to see you in collaboration with Scott on tape I love the channels of both. Warm greetings from Italy 😊
It's great that you would do a documentary on one of the most underrated musicians of all-time. Being a percussionist, Steve was one of my greatest influences. T.Rex wasn't The Marc Bolan Band until after Steve left. Excellent research. 👍
Flipping eck! I remember seeing the ( now much forgotten) band Pink Fairies when I was a teenager at Bolton Technical College back in the day ( I’m now 67 ) my mates and I used to follow them our favourite track back then …..”Uncle Harry’s last freak out…..! “RIP Steve loved the hard rock…wished you had stayed off the drugs. 😢
Thanks for another great video and 1st time to join the Live chat too. Had to watch the video for the 2nd time. I didn't remember him as I was only 4 when he died but always like to here about the person.... thanks Paul
