this is one of my favorite Reich pieces, I always describe it to friends as "its like your falling through a wormhole and two skeletons are dancing on either side of you"
I don’t know about others but in my opinion not accidentally synchronizing with each other is … mastery. I would soo distracted by my partner if I had to play this.
The sound is somewhat richer than most piano phases I've heard. Is amazing how you don't become hypnotized and lost by the very sound of phasing when it happens
I was just thinking this has to be really challenging to perform on piano--but virtually impossible on marimba just because of the increased physical exertion, so I am amazed to see it performed like this. It must have taken a lot of practice, good work!
I think they should have their own metronome placed in their earphones because there is a time when the tempo speeds up in each section they play and then they should not hear each other because one of them might get confused when it is necessary to shift the tempo and then the sound might be broken
