Ive known Salba for over 40 years. Rowe, Bellenger, and I were part of a crew that worked at the Pipeline skatepark. Mr and Mrs Alba were a huge part of Steve's success. I am so happy to see Steve inducted into the hall of fame, Congrats Steve! Badlands rule!

By far Salba is one of the best, humble, gracious, and most gnarly skateboarders' of our past, present and future times. Big Time Congratulations Salba; if anyone has ever deserved being in the Skateboarding Hall of Fame, it is you.

Somebody needs to hook Salba up with a shoe. I know older dudes like myself and other 80’s kids would buy them up faster than they could make them.

Should. Projecting needs accomplishes nothing productive. Please utilize empowering language wisely. Thanks

I went to Chaffey College with Salba...he was in my graphic arts class...he gave me some wheels when I used to skate the Pipeline before it closed. Nice guy and super creative artist. His uncle is even related to my family in California...I went skating at the park in Austin...I quit skating a while ago and could hardly walk afterwards...He will always be a skate legend in my mind and fun classmate....

He was the first skateboarder that I ever saw do them. I had no idea from pictures. Couldn't contain myself watching him skate the round part of the Combi. He had the Cars 'Lust for Kicks' on a loop ; )

Homelessness, drug, & alcohol addiction (He beat all 3 and is doing much better). He is actively recovering and is involved in the local church. I worked with him for a week or so last year during the summer.

CRINGE WORTHY. Why did he and Duane blow so badly? But I have to say, check out epic salba run here on you tube. I would buy those shoes only if they didn't look as bad as this Hall of Fame cringe.

Watched him rule Pipeline for years as a kid. Good for him. Another Montclair/Upland kid. But I feel like the reason he's not more in the public consciousness is because he got too content to be the big fish in a small pond (the Badlands) during a crucial time in his career. All his peers came up in pools too but branched out onto the vert ramp circuit, tried to be progressive, and basically got themselves out there. Salba didn't do that. So while there's no arguing he's a legend, that doesn't make him a marketable commodity.
@anoniconoclast2030
@anoniconoclast2030 4 года назад
But who's to say going the way he did isn't totally 100% what skating is all about! Back in the 70's it was all about backyard pools. All the guys wanted to be a sponsored backyard pool skater. He did it all his life.
