I love how Steve Stevens extracts every possible sound and texture from a guitar. Very unique and truly a great guitarist. Total respect

When I saw him play the unplugged set with Billy Idol, I realised that Steve Stevens is hugely underrated - his ability to play multiple parts simultaneously is just brilliant.

Steve Stevens is a monster player. Period. He and Billy idol belong on every single shortlist of greatest singer/axeslinger duos of all time. My favorite quote about Steve Stevens came out of one of the guitar mags back in the day. During a studio visit where Steve was recording the first Atomic Playboys record, the writer of the article commented that he heard the most incredibly precise, machine gun like rhythm playing he had ever heard. Every strike was perfect and in perfect time. That kind of rhythmic precision and excellence, to me, really describes a core element of Steve's playing style.

Stevens is a living legend.

You can't be underrated and have been part of any MJ songs legacy. He's a legend since a while, world is just overwhelmed by tons of distractions. Hearing him unplugged shows even more of his musicianship and talent.

Steve is such a bad ass. His 'Flamenco A Go-Go' solo album is one of THE greatest guitar albums of all time. Incredibly expressive.

For those saying he is underrated, shut up. Everybody knows how good he is and he is very well rated guitar player.

What a LEGEND. So humble and a fan as much as a player.

I agree with everyone that he was so underrated. I think when heavy metal started to take over.. he was just overshadowed cuz so many guitarists were booming in the 80s to early 90s. I know he wasn't always with Billy Idol. Played with others like Vince Neil and Michael Jackson. I remember also having Atomic Playboys. But.. it just never really blew up for him.

Steve I used play at Zappa's during the early 80s.I saw you many times with one hand clap.You were amazingly exceptual even in those days.You even saw me rehearse at my studio on bath ave in Brooklyn.As i was leaving you paid me a compliment and said "your a really good bass player."Coming from you i regard that as the greatest acknowledgement that I ever received back in my playing days.I'll never forget that.Thanks for the memories.

Steve is such a fantastic guitar player with many tricks in his bag. Im a guitar lover and appreciate all the different sounds a guitar player can create....EVH was the king of cool sounds and influenced so many people. If anyone else is the same as me check John 5's latest video promoting his new " Ghost" guitar....the song is strung out.

I love Stevens, since his collaboration with Billy Idol from which he has become essential and inseparable, he is for me one of my 10 best guitarists in the world, because he has a rare quality like Tony Iommi and Steve Rothery, that of being able to reproduce on stage almost identically what he plays on a record and with almost the same sound, this is where we understand that we are dealing with guitarists who always and again work on their instrument and their sound, they are perfectionists! First time checking this out, and have to say (being an experienced musician myself) this guy is awesome.

STEVE!!! Steve’s talent is/was held back within the Billy Idol band. We’re given a little sample of what could be (a kick-ass guitar driven song) and then, all the sudden, it’s over. What a tease! The only time he was allowed to let loose was during his live solos.

I'm so glad he touched upon the notion of distortion flattening the potential fullness of chords. I've been a metal and rock fan for a long time, but I'm also a lover of harmonically interesting chord structures. Clean(er) sounds bring out this vertical quality the best.
