It's actually very pro, yes. AND he instantly got that the amp was the problem - could have been anything else really. I don't know what else you guys need...
No matter what kind of guitar music your in to, you gotta respect and admire what Steve Vai does. The guy is off the charts talented, a mentor to many, and above all else, a real gentleman.
He's so awesome, it's called stage presence and he acted very mature with his technical difficulties, professionalism is key a feature. Steve Vai is unique and his style is phenomenal, such a cool/humble guy!
Could be that when he switched to the lead setting, that blew a breaker or something in the amp. It seemed to go out right as he hit this footswitch to solo.
@@jbisch272 The amp didn't blow up. It was just a matter of electricity, you can clearly see when the engineer in the back moves the electricity supply ( 04:22 ) as simple as that, and the amplifier comes to life again.
this was awesome, to the people complaining about the dancing, you'd only complain if he was stood still not doing anything, its called stage presence and there's not a vocalist so if he didn't dance the stage would be dead still. this guy is putting on a show and he fucking slayed "that's what I call coitus interruptus"
I'm sure Steve Vai will consider all your suggestions on how he can improve his career, yes, he will listen to a bunch of people on their room criticizing him, at the peak of his career, he must be definitely looking for tips. Thank you for your contribution
There was no amp blowing any time! He's playing with 4 heads, 2 in clean and 2 in distortion all the time! he would be in Mono, never losing sound completly! Besides, he get's sound in seconds! Looks like something got plugeg of only!
I think he is overrated guitarists ever! He plays damn fast apaergios and shows his skills. But there is NO EMOTION! Players like Gary Moore are maybe less skilled but play each note wit a lot of emotion.
He is a human being, like all of us. He was playing beautifully, but some variables are not in our or his control... His carisma is so intense that he came up with a good joke about it! Let's have some fun, guys! That's the goal of all this thing!! hehehe Cheers from Brazil!
People here are just so pissed off that nothing happened and that is why you are seeing all the 'nasty comments' . Whoever uploaded it did not do it for the music, the video stalls most of the way through and is annoying itself, but on top of that a slightly boring no name number really brakes the camel's back.
Wow this comment section is trash! If you don't like vai? Why are you here? Hes a great guitarist with amazing feel and great phrasing. Oh and those dance moves are him getting in the zone and not caring what dumb haters think! Rant over
+Dawson Clark Yeah, one of the most influential guitar players of all time, I have no idea where this picking comes from :) Maybe that's just called being envy...? ;)
I have much respect for Vai. Some of these "next gen" guitarists can't even do a pedalboard tap dance, they have their techs doing it for them backstage, let alone use a pair of real 100 watt tube amps and 4x12s with Vintage 30s...thats actually producing the stage volume, tone and INTERACTION with the guitar. I hate a wall of dummy cabs just for looks
lunge , skip, wiggle, pary, dodge, shimmy, skip, lugubrious shimmy, skip, turn, and wiggle!! This is the greatest burlesque transvestite show I've ever seen, but he can't be gay cause gay people aren't this overtly homosexual.
steve vai's tone is actualy quite amazing and unique in my opinion, his tone is his own, it is an essential part of his individuality as a guitarist....maybe it didnt come across in this video as the sound quality is poor. Having experienced one of his live concerts i can honestly say his tone is one of the best i've heard.....
I love the way he reacts to it, I would of completely froze and my mood would have been killed, but he maintains a good mood. Just watching this taught me something
He's not trying to act cool. He is just letting his body respond to them music he's playing. You would know the feeling if you ever jammed on a really sweet song.
its firstgrade I do play guitar and I've never felt the overcoming need to dance like a drunk completely out of sync with the music I was playing. It's just as stupid as his early fan obsession. The guys a great player, but he does some really dumb shit to try and put on more of a show and I think they always sound better in his mind than the actual execution.
FixxxerKH202 Agreed. But it's like the feeling of being there, the live show experience. I'm not a huge fan of it really. MY favorite live show is Tool and the guitarist kinda drones. Just stares into the audience but plays killer riffs.
This man has single-handedly done more to advance lead guitar than any of the late 80's shredders. When non-musicians know his name, that tells ya something. Don't understand the hate here on this comment section.
I totally agree with you 100%! They or just sorry ass losers who makes these types of comments about him , and its quite clear they are just jealous because they are losers who only wish they could only be a 1/4 as good and successful as Vai, and just his guitar collection is worth more than their house's put together! lmfao
+Roy Patterson i agree with you also........i have never seen or heard of any of these other's on here on guitar.......or record a song ..........much less play the guitar..........the dude played along with Frank Zappa.............get back in the elevator and turn the music down.........
+Terry Burleyson agreed, he's also played with Yngwie Malmsteen, was taught by Joe Satriani, and has played with countless other Greatest Guitarists of all time! I liked his "Passion and Warfare" album when it first came out, and I like almost all of the G3 Tour's.
Seller Critic You're entitled to your opinion, Steve's entitled to his, we are entitled to ours. It's Steve who should be sorry not you. It's not your fault he's such a catastrophe for the eyes and ears :-D
some ppl still believe rap is really music...some ppl claim they are UFO targets, i believe steve had a horrible night, the sound sys was all fucked up from the beginning, I know one guitar tech that should be shot, and steve....plz never ever attempt that song in public,again... like forever...
Steve is a Buddhist , vegetarian and a Hell of Nice Guy ...So much that Anything That Many would be offended By Steve Would Just Smile and Let it Roll off his shoulder . His Solo Style is very extravagant.Definately not for most listeners ears .That Being Said ... There is no one in the industry that doesn't respect Steve .Those that Know Steve Love The Contribution And Stability He Brings To an OFTEN viscious and ruthless industry..
Ahh guys if you don't like him, why are you here? You like wasting your time? Watch something you like, trash talk is too easy and it's been done to death, boring......
Hey Ole Steve deserves Credit where Credit is due! He's a Phenomenal Player!!!!! Personally my GUITAR GOD is George"Mr Scary" Lynch, HE'S MY FAV. ON THE WHOLE PLANET!
holy fuk, he thinks people actually want to see him dance like that ? I knew Steve Vai was a lead singer in his heart, he just has that attitude, Im the most important person on this stage. Play the guitar Steve(though even that is getting pretty old) save the a stage show, the CHOREOGRAPHED moves for real dancers.
some of us do like see him doing his moves, it's one of the things that makes his performances unique and special. if you don't like it you have a good choice: don't watch it.
Because he's feeling the fuckin music. Would you stand there like an idiot concentrating on your damn fingers? Come on you would be fuckin bored to see a guy just standin there 2 hours
If the music is good why should it matter what the musician is doing? I would much rather someone concentrate on their playing for 2 hours then stumble around noodling with dive bombs...
He's got two Fractal Axe-FX II modelling preamps and four Carvin tube amps there, getting back up and running with something shouldn't be difficult at all. He's got backups for his backups.
a clown? excuse me, but you are ofending a lot of people, so have some respect. Vai is one of the best, if not the best (for me it sure is!) guitar player from our times.
Blew ONE of his amps. I'm sure he's running 10 of them plus his backups. (Always have backups with valve amplifiers). I gig with three of them. One main, one secondary and a backup.
