Poor Claudia! She was always the sweet, innocent and naive woman until she couldn’t take it anymore and burned down the La Mirage when the candles fell on those highly flammable curtains lol.
I was never into Dynasty until just after the wedding massacre, so I completely missed Billy Campbell on the show. However, I'll always remember him as the dashing Dr Jon Fielding in Tales of the City.
ih8being amonkey Right? Me too. I lived thru Steven and Luke as a young teen! 😍 Billy Campbell was amazing in the movie "The Rocketeer" too - if you haven't seen it, check it out - great fun! (The view's nice too!) 😏
@@notthefather3919 Luke didn't know that. When Steven said «my wife» Luke should had stayed away. Ok, Steven was gay or bisexual with the most part of the gay side in it. He could like both sex, but prefered more men than women.... According to both Al Corley and Jack Coleman, Steven was bisexual, but in the series Steven said «I lived a lie to please you.. (.......). I'm homosexual, I'm gay. Steven is gay, someone please say it. Steven is gay» Fallon was the one who said it. Steven loved Claudia into a point. He really did. And it wotked too for a while, but when Luke turned up, Steven became confused again...... Luke should had stayed away when he heard that Steven was married.
This scene depicted the fear that people have for gays…. That they will try to convert and recruit your spouse into their ruinous lifestyle, they are predators and marriage wreckers.
This scene gave us gay people sooo much joy because Steven had been with SJ and then Kooky C for so many seasons. Used to go to a gay bar to watch on Dynasty Nite back then, and the whole crowd cheered when Luke fixed the tie! Sadly Luke died later that year from a mysterious medical ailment or something like that....don't think ole Steven ever touched another woman after Luke touched his tie!
Maybe he was attracted to the Carrington power and position. Luke's in his own league with looks of an angel with sex appeal, but Steven's not too bad.
Wow, Billy Campbell (Luke) was very good-looking. Steven was a fool to be hostile toward him. I would have told Claudia, "Claudia, not now!! I'm going out for lunch with Luke." - LOL I did love Pamela Bellwood as "Claudia". Claudia was a likable character that brought humility to the show. I'm not so sure she died in that hotel fire.
I wish Luke hadn't been killed in Moldavia. Interesting thought about Claudia not being dead. Somebody on one of the Dynasty Facebook pages theorized that maybe she was the lady in the limo in Season 9, which is actually not a bad idea.
ForeverCarrington, Claudia suffered so much searching for Lindsay. Then they bring back Matthew after they got rid of Claudia!! I hated Steven killing Matthew. So Steven has an affair with Claudia, and then, kills Matthew!!
ForeverCarrington Well they HAD to kill Luke, otherwise Steven might actually be (gasp!) "gay" for once. As for Claudia, I thought Dominique's otherwise useless daughter confirmed that Claudia was consumed by the fire (it was actually a plot point in a few episodes)
i agree ForeverCarrington, they should've kept him on longer, for at least another season .. i think i had mentioned in another thread somewhere that the producers could've had a love triangle between steven, luke and bart fallmont the following season .. but of course, during those times, it would've been way too tabooish
Jonathan Washington - Yes, Dominique’s useless daughter conveniently stopped in a hallway to somehow see Claudia being burned to death. I guess Claudia ran over to the door, opened it, then ran back and froze in place with that pitiful look on her face while the fire she caused consumed her and the entire hotel. One candle fell over and the place went up in flames. The following day, La Mirage was gone, Claudia was roasted and Amanda had a new face. I guess smoke damage caused Amanda’s face to change and her English accent to change to an American one.
i certainly agree with you ForeverCarrington, he seemed to be a rarity on the show as being a level-headed one yet he had plenty of confidence and charm (as well as very good looks) .. i said somewhere that had he stayed on longer, he could've made for an interesting love triangle with him, Steven and Bart Fallmont
yes, IF the ABC network would allow it though, you know how everything was SO taboo back then .. i'm sure if they showed that today, it wouldn't be much of a big deal
Dynasty had some very very attractive men.most were at least 6ft2 in height.steven.luke.al corley.jeff colby.adam.mark jennings.john Forsythe.prince michael. kevin conroy.etc.
To have a major character who's gay as a regular, and have gay storylines here; that made Dynasty a MUCH more progressive show than Dallas. All Dallas had was that one little story with JR outting Lucy's fiance
@@jrcarter9175 "The Rocketeer" is a superhero that was also played by Billy Campbell. Billy Campbell has both played The Rocketeer (Cliff Secord) in 1991 and Luke Fuller from Dynasty in 1984.
AND a much better actor -- mainly because he wanted to play the part as a sensitive gay man; Coleman said flat out in interviews that he was uncomfortable in the part - and it showed
Steven was just rude to a newly encountered Luke...and then gets an offer for lunch? Gosh, the writing on this show stank sometimes. They should have shown some kind of reaction to Luke's good looks; something to set off his gaydar prompting the invitation.
Luke already knew everything about Steven even that he was gay, everyone knew even Steven's wife. So it's not that weird that he wanted to know Steven personally, also Luke knew Steven was stressed so he didn't take offence by him being alittle rude. I don't think this scene was bad at all.
Not to criticize the character of Luke but why do gay men always have to portrayed as upfront with there flirting? What happened to subtlety and nuance. Taking Steven out for drinks or dinner or lunch. Something classier then this.
