Stephen Covington has been a commercial pilot for 15+ years. He is the owner of SRC Airshows, and is a relatively new addition to the circuit. He won the ICAS Gold Award in 2018 for best new performer.
The plane he flies is named "Fury" and is a Pitts S2S Special, known as the "Raptor" Pitts, for its extreme agility compared to other Pitts Specials. It has modified control surfaces, and a Lycoming engine with almost 400 HP. The raw power of this engine allows the Raptor to fly at over 300 mph and to do very aggressive and powerful aerobatics, like the snap rolls and tumbles in this video.
This is a video of his performance on Sunday. During his Saturday performance, he had to knock it off early because he cracked his seat from the g force during his show. I guess he fixed the problem enough to fly again on Sunday. Help also flew a teaser at the beginning and raced against the Hot Streak II Jet Truck. I hope to have that video up later.
