To close out our 2020-21 season, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to welcome Canadian icon ‪@StevenPageMusic‬ .
Just in time for our first public audiences, Steven, Craig Northey and Kevin Fox came to the Orpheum in June to record a lovely set of Canadiana with the VSO and Maestro Andrew Crust.
As well as some Barenaked Ladies and Steven Page originals, the set will cover songs by Leonard Cohen, the Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie, and John K. Samson of The Weakerthans. VSO Associate Conductor Andrew Crust leads the orchestra.
Dennis Thomas from the Tsleil-Wauthuth Nation gave a heartfelt welcome and prayer, recognizing this time of deep reflection for Canada. Enjoy!

Thrilling! Steven Page’s speaking voice is music not to mention his singing voice ! What a gift. And the combination with the orchestra. A masterpiece each and every performance. Those BNL songs accompanied by the orchestra. Unbelievably beautiful. Thank you so much. 🎼🎶🎵💜

I was listening to this in the background while I worked, when I heard the line "I would wait for you to arrive with kibble and a box of beer" and realized it was a song from the perspective of a cat. This is maybe the most beautiful and sad song I have ever heard.
