Maybe someone was upset to find MJ didn't write or arrange stuff that made him famous. IMO it's very cool to get a look at the fascinating back story none the less.

These are the things i look for in other artists. I find it hard to find people like this because everyone thinks they can just do it overnight. When it takes hours or even days. A lot of folks these days don't have the patience to work on one sound out of 50....on 1 song. This is amazing stuff Anthony!!!

Thanks so much for this fab insight 😎 I think it's also important to mention the influence of the 1981 movie "An American Werewolf in London" directed by John Landis, music by Elmer Bernstein. 1983 Thriller video, directed by John Landis, with music by Elmer Bernstein. Just thought it was worth a shout out.

These guys are good. I wouldn't be surprised if Heart Break Hotel was a part of the inspiration behind Thriller, and Farewell My Summer Love the inspiration behind Lady In My Life. Not in a thousand years would the ladies in the Ferrari have realised they were the inspiration behind PYT; they probably danced to it but with no inkling. PYT lesson, let the song come to you.

Anthony, give us a little video where you point out and describe a little about each of your keyboards and machines - exciting to see, and brings back a lot of memories about some of mine I should have kept, from 'way back' in the 80's...! Some of mine were the Rhodes piano, of course, YamahaCS10 mono synth, Crumar string keys, a brand new Korg Poly800, a borrowed KorgPoly61, and later a MOOG MemoryMoogPlus and of course, a brand new Yamaha DX7... I remember always thinking that the DX7 was the 'Michael Jackson' keyboard, though I'm learning now that my information, at the time, was incorrectly substituted for the CS80(well, unless MJ used the DX7 on later albums)!

Any pop album after 84 pretty much has the DX7. The really bright digital-ish sounds might have been Synclavier though.

I'm confused about PYT. There's a demo by MJ titled PYT, a mid-tempo song, which later became "Joy" for Blackstreet. The demo sounds like coming from the Thriller era, but apart from the title it has nothing to do with the PYT, which went on the Thriller album. What do you know about this?

I always thought Thriller was influenced by a similar-sounding track off the Jacksons' Triumph album - 'Heartbreak Hotel'. That song had a similar dramatic cinematic theme about it. You can imagine Rod Templeton listening to what the Jacksons had recently produced themselves.

1:54 Mj did say the word funky a lot, even in beat it : Showin' how 'funky' strong is your fight...! He says funky rhythm in the bts footage of 'Ghosts', although he didn't use swear words like f*ck or sh*t.
