@@OneLoneMan wow, a Segal fan who is hurt because I made fun of his hero. Tell me Skippy what do you like most about Seagal his 60" gut or his fake Aikido?
People think what Seagl does is just normal Aikido. It’s not even close, it’s a mix of all the martial arts he knows together in one. I was lucky enough to see him perform in person and his speed is incredible and has so much power behind his hits as well. It’s laughable seeing people on the internet talk about how easy they think they could beat him lol.
He is old now though.. But there are smart people that want to pick up on what works. Aikido has a lot of painful techniques that can be used in a practical way that's for sure and of course Segal knows what they are!! Lol
I don’t know how good he is…how much of that he can or cannot apply in self defense but he makes it look so cool. It’s just as neat to watch here as in his movies.
@@andthereisntone3454 actually I have years ago. It was outside an expo in Arizona. Wasn't a full on "fight" but a real life display of his ability; I did see him deflect a punch and respond with some kind of clothesline maneuver to a crazy guy outside who was harassing him.
He's much older and obviously not in the physical shape he used to be, but his hands and body movement are still very fast. I've taught and practiced those deflections in the dojo I teach at and what he's showing is top notch.
I know! I think people Forget that this man is now 70 yrs old! beast of a man, fast and fluid..Lots of chi and massive, effortless force in those movements
I like how the blocks are very deflecting and you move into position to get the most leverage and efficiently strike. You definitely don't want to let Seagal get those mitts on you. 😳🙏🥋💥
@@Lt.Mingus69 Peace! Yo did you see the calloused knuckles son? The man has massive knuckle callouses. Our instructor used to tell us to hit the wooden boards..
Hey listen to the audio, 'don't block' akido and inner/outer martial arts are about intention, if you keep calling it 'block' it will cost you vital mileseceonds it's an intensional movement in order to be in best possession to execute a take down, base on the approach of your attacker.
😮This is a great post. I've enjoyed seeing SS in action with his students. The whole Hollywood star persona sort of muddied the waters regarding him. I like watching him teach in real life. Very refreshing🥋
I hate when people trash him and call him a fraud. After all those years of aikido he has a very high understanding of body mechanics and how to break someones balance. Is he the greatest fightest ever, no. But does he have a lot of knowledge and wisdom to teach, most certainly yes.
🤦♀️ go train with someone that's actually got experience fighting in real combat judo thai boxing mma Bjj kickboxing sambo this guy is a fat actor that never faught both in there prime him with his aikido fedor and his brother young combat sambo champions... Segal wouldn't last a minute then fedor and his brother done well in Japan fighting all kinds of martial artist and they have proof they have been in wars Segal has just been in movies... name one aikido practitioner that actually used aikido and won a fight ... it's never happened
No matter what his reputation in Hollywood is or what people may say about him, Seagal is a real martial arts master. I knew several of them growing up and he's the real thing. Make no mistake.
@justinbailey1756 Steven has become a self parody, there's no question about it. He himself is responsible for his reputation as it is today. Unfortunately, it overshadows the reality of his expertise as a genuine martial arts master.
Simply spectacular, and this is something basic, then there is what Seagal learned in his youth and practical for 20 years, which is something basically on other levels,What was seen here in this video is just a very light demonstration, it is something that anyone can do, but there is the real practice.
I think that you'll find it's well rehearsed and anticipated. The technique is an absolute killer in reality where not only do you get your thoat or jaw and possibly neck broken, but on concrete the back of your skull and shoulders won't be having a niceday either.
@@mraffabilityGB Unless someone blocks or is striking you at the same time or clinches up or 100 other things. There's no reality in this. Its just based on the best, fastest possible outcome for you. This is nothing like a real fight is.
It’s nice to read some of the comment here. Giving the man the Martial respect he deserves. Lot of people have trashed him. As they have even trashed Aikido. But bet they won’t go up against him. I’ve studied Aikido for the last 15 years. I’ve blended it with Poekalan, Jeet Kune Do and Shotokan. And I love it. Can be dangerous as hell. But. I have learned to Fight without fighting. Unless forced to. Thank to Aiki. Oss.
He is great at what he does. But it's simply not true nobody will go up against him. He's the one that has not wanted to go up against anybody. He's been challenged several times says it's against his teachings. But then he will make a violent movie . But you're right he's very good at what he does
No. I hear you. In reality. It goes against all the principles of Aikido. Remember. Non Violent. Passive Controlled the escalation. We do not want to make enemies. But be in harmony with all things. That’s what Aiki is. To be in Harmony with the Cosmos. The elements. Not just a physical thing. To move with Nature. To move Naturally. Like it’s meant to be.
emilianenko knows that shit dont work in a real fight its easy when someone is letting you do it yeah if he gets a hold of you he knows how to break bones very easily
@@jasontipton8430 I was sitting next to Seagal later that evening and Emelianenko was praising the techniques and the power behind them. Saying he was surprised of how they work and that he never could imagine it before.
Why do people feel the need to mock him ? Personaly It don't make sense.... He's spent a long time dedicated to the art , he is passionate about it , he takes his personal time to go out of his way to teach people what he knows , he is good at what he does , how well would it go in a street fight who knows its not the point , but to ridicule him online is childish and moronic... He put on weight as he aged and ? So what ?
@@SoldierAndrewyeah I don't get the hate and disconnect over Segal.. He's a skilled artist but at 70 there are limits.. Some people aren't home upstairs lol
I met him in the late 80s, went with my Aikido instructor to Seagals studio for a session. He's very fluid and smooth and he seems like he can read body and predict how you are going to move. but Aikido wasn't designed for attacking, it was a defensive movements in sword combat.
he is most surtainly good and exellent and a true master at aikido , its his attitude towards other martial artists that is horrible and stinks , ive heard and seen interviews done with him were he has been asked what he thinks of other martial artists such as michael jai white , jean claude van damme , and so on , he has asked the interwier if he can laugh in his , her face , thats not a good face towards other martial artists .
@@stigtuneback1966 all martial arts are fundamentally 2 types, closed hand (attacking) and open hand (defensive). Aikido is open hand, there are no punching in Aikido, same with the Koran version called HapKido. TaeKwonDo is closed hand, with mostly kicking. But Aikido is hard to practice without a partner to do it with. TaeKwonDo, all you need is a heavy bag to kick and punch, so that's what I do now, just to stay semi-proficient.
@@CrisusAttucks well , that i know and understand , that aikido is hard to practice without a partner if not quite impossible , while like you said , arts like taekwondo , karate , punsch and kick arts only require a kick bag , ive never done or practice any kind or art of martial arts at all , but i have a huge interest in all kinds of arts there is to practice and use no matter what , and ive also seen many videos of and with different arts , just cant remember them all . i just did not know that aikido mainly came from sword arts and is for defending against weapon attacks , and also its not an attack form .
@@stigtuneback1966 .....every move in Aikido starts with someone initiating an attack....from just pushing you or kicking you. Aikido doesn't teach any type of Kata like Karate does. That doesn't mean that you cant add in punching and kicking if you feel it is needed.
... bom dia para todos...(goodymorning for all...)...as técnicas ensinadas são fantásticas...
@@ravenstrange8466 I understand your sceptical attitude and actually you were right, I exaggerated. Double-checked it, he started in 1959, making it 63 years and not 65. Nothing to do with 'beating' anyone whatsoever.
Steven Seagal simply the best!!!!!!!
If you know where the attack is headed for, you can always defend against it , and if you are are at a angle from your attacker it gives you move ability to place them out of the fight zone to even hit you with any real power at all ; to give you a chance for grab joint locks on your attacker or attackers !...
He abused all his wives and people like Leguizamo, he is a coward as all men that abuse women. He is a narcisitic person, I will kick his but big time: Jeet Kune Do is #1
Techniqe is correct but when you block the other hand must follow to become a strike a flow. When you step on the foot the other leg must become a strike and the dance begins.
No matter what others said about Mr. Seagal the important thing is all Aikido practioners will agree that He is a true master and His legacy will remain to all those who knows him and belived on him and his skills.
Nobody disagrees that he knows Aikido very well. Nobody who knows anything about martial arts that is... The problem is not how good he is in Aikido, the problem is the system that he is so good at. It's almost useless in the vast majority of self defense or even more so, contact sports situations (where it's completely useless actually). That's the problem, the system itself. It's like Joe Rogan said, "he became very good at something that's very dumb"... LOL. He's very good at something that's useless basically :)))))) And if anybody is impressed by what he displayed here then THOSE PEOPLE TOO know nothing about martial arts LOL.
@@JDA2185 It's not impressive to showcase your talents in a martial art because it's not an efficient style? Who's the one who doesn't know anything about martial arts here? Because last I checked martial arts doesn't have to be just what is efficient or not. You can do martial arts because you just like it too and Seagal seems to have done a lot for himself personally for knowing such a "useless" martial art he could still probably whoop 80% of the population with. Sure put him against somebody more fit who is efficient at more useful martial arts and he'll probably struggle. But he's essentially a master in this "useless" art who's practiced it all of his life. If I had to pick between him and at the most an average fighter I'm putting my money on him. Especially on account of the fact he's 6'4". And you could probably put him up against a bit more as well if he wasn't 70 years old.
@@JDA2185 You're talking out of your ass. There is usefulness in Aikido, and also what Seagal does is not just Aikido. And if you think it's useless why not challenge him.
I listen to a podcast from experienced MMA and said Steven is the real deal. Steve go a hold of him a number of times and through him around. If the guys did not comply broken arms and bones. Get see the size of his hands. Huge.
At the end of the day Aikido is jujitsu against the sword attacker. The technique requires that you get in close most of the time which is effective against an attacker with a long sword. You can control the swordsman when within arms reach. Aikdo may be challenging against a boxer who snap punches or a mauy tai fighter who snap punches but if an aikido fighter pretended to be a boxer and waited for the long follow through punch then a Aikido technique could be used. But Aikdo if timed right can put down anyfighter especially within close range followed by a ground lock.
There’s practical aikido and traditional aikido. Practical Aikido works in real fights. Traditional Aikido, as seen by Seagal, only works for entertainment.
Serious display of skills.... that said, I would Love to have seen those moves demonstrated on the Big guy for a change, instead of that little fellow.
*Seagal could have been a martial artist legend but his piss poor attitude towards his fellow practitioners did him in. If only his ego wasn't as big as his appetite.*
George Foreman challenged Steven Siegel to a bare knuckle fight, they were both fat however Steven refused out of fear he might have to soil his pants like the last time around. Jean Claude van demm also begged him for a fight.
