I always felt that Steven Seagal came across as someone who is always trying to prove something but can never prove it. Hence he needs to keep inflating his ego. He's what my late grandmother would call "an empty wagon making a lot of noise".

Just a couple of comments: Seagal is excellent on the mat, but the person that made him look good was Huro Matsuoka. Matsuoka will always be my sampi. A martial arts master does not denigrate his peers. In this aspect, Seagal is no master. He does have his skills; speaks Japanese fluently, and has skills inAikido if he knows what is coming at him. Two people told me a story about Seagal-six months apart. The story was verbatim. The second, Ralph ‘Papa’ Thornton, a bounty hunter, told me the story while Seagal stood there with his mouth open. He was never in the CIA. The man hasn’t a clue on how to read a compass, which is a mighty handy tool to have in a jungle. I spent three tours in Vietnam in a recon platoon. Michael Jai White would have to run after Seagal...the man is lacking in bravery. It is a sad commentary in that Seagal had so much potential of being a revered Aikido master. His malignant narcissism, coupled with pathological lying has regulated him to the soon forgotten shadows.

Excuse me....Michael Jai White is not only a great Martial Artist but he's a pretty dam good movie actor too. People dont realize how hard it is to be an actor too. Also the rumors are there that the Green Lantern role may be available for Michael in the DC universe. That would be awesome!

Stephen lays claim to fighting all his marshal arts career. What fights, what tournaments, sorry but going through practice in dojo where everything is scripted is not fighting. He has been caught in multiple lies about his marshal arts career. I’m not mocking the fact that he probably is a good Aikido master but how does one judge their skill level, unless in a full contact soaring match. It’s like a boxer that only shadow boxes, hits the heavy and spied bags but never spars or boxes an opponent in the ring.

You can’t say if they were to fight today, that’s makes no sense. You have to compare them in their prime. Also, Seagul was saying that they were not real fighters, just actors. Only Benny the Jet who always play the villain is a real champion and in real life would give anyone a beating.

Steven has been fighting for long time. His been fighting against good acting and healthy eating.

I used to be a fan of steven for a long time and love the calm way of his fighting, but now as i've come to know he is talking shit on various respectful and top actors, and even the great one Bruce Lee, a true martial artist and a true person never speaks bad about other, instead he should be respectful of others, Bruce never said he was the best or undefeated instead he loves sharing his knowledge and talent, everyone knows what he is capable of, his words and actions proved he is untouchable and too good, his philosophy has been considered an inspiration for his fans, even today's UFC's famous and top fighter ConnorMcGregor, John Jones and other top martial art masters considered Bruce as the best martial artist and is the one to inspire them, so even till this day, Bruce is second to none, he is the king, MJW is a good martial artist and the real badass who can fight, and Van Damme is famously known by me as a kickboxing champion, if seagal wants to talk shit, he should try out fake masters like the chinese guy did, if he considered jai white and van Damme nothing good then he must have a fight with one of them, talking shit is nothing but talking followed by action is something, so it could be some sort of jealousy that Steven has seen the ability and capability in both of them which he lacks or doesn't possess.,try and learn to respect others to gain respect from others.

Well said Brother T! That straight up Hate’n! This is that other side of seagal that I didn’t jive wit. He plays the humble “Monk type”. But from time to time slides in these backhand comments. Run for his money,.. at this point they would take his money. Seagal is reach cuz his career is not what it could have been. These comments get him some much wanted attention.

The big thing that is not being mentioned is that any of us as practicing martial artists is that it is a very poor reflection in the arts. It’s unnecessary, disrespectful to those who have taught us and most importantly what lesson are the youth practicers of our arts being taught. I am seriously disappointed by these behaviors and I’m proud to say that if I ever spoke this way publicly or privately and my instructors would deserved so discipline me till every ounce of this was out of my system furthermore I would and do have enough discipline and self respect to know better than to ever say something so foolish and Seagal should lose his title of Master.

In the late 90s, I knew people who had trained with Seagal both in California and in Japan. The comment that always stuck with me is how incredibly arrogant and close-minded he was. He was never interested in the exchange of ideas and techniques. He always presumed his thought on the subject was the final conclusion on the matter.

Of course ed parker was awesome, he trained with Bruce Lee and they hung out alot as good friends.

I do agree that Seagal does know his stuff, the man owned a dojo in Japan and trained people and u don't own a dojo in Japan unless u really have credibility. That said, he is arrogant and full of himself.

Mr.Michael Jai White is professionally skillful. Mr.Van Dam is in good shape with good flexibility. Expecting Steven going on stage or in the ring not up to Demonstration level but go fighting with truest Great fighters in MMA or all sort of Professional Real fighters. Chuck Norris is a blackbelt in Tang Soo Do, BJJ and Judo. He is older than Seagal and in way better shape. Chuck worked with and was friends with Bruce Lee, and I'm sure Bruce and Chuck learned off of each other. Chuck won competitions. Chuck made way more movies than Seagal, and Chuck is a patriot! Steven Seagal is not a true patriot, he has citizenship in America, Serbia and Russia. He may be 7th Dan in Aikido, but he has not maintained what you would call fighting shape. Steven also has allegations of sexual harassment and assault from several women. Van Damme started martial arts at 10 years old learning Shotokan Karate, he earned blackbelt by 18. Jean learned kickboxing and Muay Thai. Michael Jai White started training at the age of seven, he learned BJJ, Shotkan, Goju-Ryu and Kyokushin karate, Taekwondo, Wushu, Kubodo, and Tang Soo Do. Michael has eight blackbelts in varying degrees. I lost all respect for Seagal, he needs to go toe to toe before running his mouth!!!

Mr. Stroud, Hi Im Ben Williams. I want to thank you for this video and your eloquent comments. I have to agree with you regarding Mr. White in a matchup with Mr. Segal. With Mr. White having very dense muscle mass and heavy bone structure aligned with a strong respiratory system which equates to lasting endurance. Segal would tire respiratoraly than physically long before Mr. White even would begin to perspire. Regarding aikido and Segal, watching him invhis demonstrations he's using planned staged demos. Which seems to be a staple of traditional aikido systems. I do not see anything in segals use of aikido application that indicates adaptation or inovative impeovement. Mr. White, along with Scott Adkins, and Mr. Norris practice Systems adjustments and improvements to avoid repeatative and predictive anticipation by an apponent. Simply Segal uses the same over and over techniques which even myself just an Army trained hand to hand practitioner could see coming and with strong effort work around or counter. About Mr. Vandamme, im not sure what to say about him, considering his past long term substance abuse. I think he may be a more equal match for segal on a mental level and perhaps physically. A very hard to predict all out brawl would be Scott Adkins and Micharl Jai White. Both are close in age, both practice hard, both are extremely powerfully built and I believe have equally strong respiratory systems.

Don The Dragon Wilson, 3. Chuck Norris, 4. Micheal Jai White, 5. Wesley Snipes. Then next I would say for top 10 to add 6. Donnie Yen, 7. Jeff Speakman, 8. Jean Claude Van Damme, 9. Scott Adkins, 10. Michael Jai White and Steven Seaga lwould have got knocked out by Bruce Lee. Remember Bruce was AHEAD of his time, Michael and Steven are not. This is the difference between Bruce Lee and ANY current martial artist today. Which fighter today is ahead of their time ? NONE.

Overeating can stem from childhood trauma and neglect. He was adopted as far as I know also, these development years leave some psychological difficulties. Most people who eat like that are emotional eaters, self-soothing behaviour like smoking a cigarette. When you have money and it's socially acceptable to eat I'm sure it can quickly become a habit, same with Marlon Brando. JCVD also had years of alcohol and cocaine abuse, he does maintain flexibility though and his dancing background taught him that discipline also.

Also I think seagal is a good fighter and could take van damm or white in a fight. Just because he went to Japan and trained with the masters. Seagal may have a big ego but that dont take away from he's skill he did go to Japan and train with the masters . and anyone who trains with the masters in Japan is a good fighter.

Well said my brother. Because there is certainly a difference between martial art and karate, taekwondo and kungfu. Analogy! That would be like saying, ford company is general motors. When ford starts off as a company but later becomes general motors alone with subsidizing other companies under ford. Point is being a martial artist is not about just learning Kung or wing-chun. It's about learning many forms of fightings which generalizes being a martial artist.

It's clearly that Steven Seagal is just flat out jealous of these guys! He also made a comment about Bruce Lee! In the past saying he is overrated! Personally I always liked JCVD over Seagal! Even back in the late 80s & early 90s JCVD fight scenes were more realistic, because he took lickings & kept on kicking plus he fought guys with skills! Were Seagal on the other hand was the complete opposite, in his movies he comes off as a arrogant bully who hurt guys that was smaller & weaker then him! Plus when he hurt guys in his movies, he hurt them beyond common sense! The way he acts in his movies shows his character in real life! It's Americans like him is the reason why the Chinese didn't want Bruce Lee to teach their Martial Arts to the Westerners because they know that a lot of Americans would use it just to bully and hurt people!

They are all martial artists...I don't know why these guys are so critical. Steven Seagal is legit, but man, he has a huge ego. MJW has moments of being quite egotistical and critical of, for example, JCVD, saying JCVD isn't a martial artist.......Jean had drug issues and struggled yes, but he perservered, is humble, friendly, and very respectful, and trains alot! MJW is very cool and friendly, and yes very skilled but he too has critically judged many of his peers unfairly. Too many egos and opinions.

Steven Seagal is a nutcase. I like Seagal's earlier movies, his current ones not too good. Michael Jai White, Van Damme are to me good martial artists. Why Seagal do not think so is beyond me. I feel that Jim Kelly was a good martial artist as well. The Black Dragon Ron Van Clief is a good martial artist as well. Having a ego can ruin a person, and Segal has one.

What I see is the fact that all of them have the same trait.. their actors who happen to know martial arts. And anybody who looks into it more than that? Good luck.

I think Steven Seagal would win , there is a huge height and size difference, but the skill level is higher as well just because Steven has mutliple styles under his belt plus more years of training, he would be able to avoid getting kicked by JCVD he would be too smart to get caught with a powerful kick.
