Watching those clips you can see that in Steven's movies the stuntmen do the most difficult moves while in Sammo's case it's him doing them. Anyone can wave their arms around in the air but those kicks alone put Sammo in a different category.

Well, all I know about any of that type of situation is this. Sammo Hung has never backed down from a real fight ever. But on the other hand, according to Sylvester Stallone in one of his interviews that I watched. At one of his parties Steven Seagal was challenged by Jean Claude Van Damme because he was always trash talking about him. Stallone said that when this happened, Seagal left the party and went to a club. So, Van Damme followed him to the same club and confronted him again, where there again he left, but that time he left out the back door. Now this is coming from one of Sylvester Stallones interviews. So, he would know since he was there and witnessed it. And I don't think he would lie about something like that. So, we have one who has never backed down from a fight and one who avoided a fight from a person he trashed talked about being able to beat.

Steven Seagal is not known to have had many fights off the movie set, but Sammo Hung in his younger day...was! Just look at the scar on his face, he got that in a bar fight when he was 17 years old, plus a lot of stunt man in Hong Kong said that Sammo really hurt you even when you practiced a choreography because he wanted the real thing. Don't forget the fight was choreograph in favour of Bruce Lee, Sammo said in an interview that Bruce was quicker than him, but I am sure if it came to strength only, Sammo would have beaten Bruce. Just the weight of the guy was a big advantage over Bruce plus it is well known that Sammo used to fight a lot in gang street when he was young just look at the scar he ended up with after a bar fight. He always told everyone he needed to know what he was learning from his master was good in a street fight....lol! Apparently so did Bruce, he had a reputation has a street fighter that is why is parents sent him back to the USA because he was arrested a few times in Hong Kong. And don't forget Bruce was 32 years old to Sammo 20 years old in the movie Enter the Dragon.

When you read interviews about life in Hong Kong with other Hong Kong martial artists you get the sense very quickly that in some ways in China it’s like the wild wild West. There’s a lot of gun fighters out there and challenges are normal. I suspect Samuel has had to fight in many challenging matchesLiving and growing up there. It doesn’t matterWhether he won every fight or not, the fact that he is fighting. Helps to make his fighting skill better. A guy who fights every week or every month can fight a lot better than a guy who fights every once in a while or not at all
Aikido is very good for a street fight. Especially in winter when people wear a lot of clothing. Because Aikido is made to stay strong with as little mobility as possible. In addition, street fights often involve several fighters and the use of weapons. Mixed martial arts and street fights are different things! Aikido is bad in the ring against other types of fighting. It is very good in the free world. However, this is also one of Wing Tsun's greatest strengths. Many of the most acrobatic martial arts are more of a hindrance in a street fight. Sammos roundkicks looks cool but they are not good outside of hollywood.
@@JamesMMcCann sounds like you have had bad experiences with an Aikido background ?! If Aikido is so useless, how come it lasted for centuries and spread around the world? As already mentioned, aikido is made to ensure good defenses with as little physical training as possible and restrictions due to weight and weather, which can be very effective with samurai and the heavy armor used at that time as well as today's military equipment. In return, what use is, for example, a karate or taekwondo training with good footsteps if your mobility is so limited that you can hardly move? In such cases, throwing and grip martial arts are much more effective! Although I would also tend to prefer Jiu Jitsu

@@JamesMMcCann whatever you say man.. but i have other experience... and not each one is a perfekt trained fighter in the real world... tell your training techniks to fat or weak people who cant handler there bodys perfektly like you maybe. they will fail all... but with aikido they can defend thereselfs. Take for example 2 80 year old mans in a ring and let them fight one of them with aikido the other one with some mma fight techniks and i bet the aikido guy will win this fight...

Tall, short, fat, athletic, strong, weak, I have taught them all and they can all defend themselves. He has good kicks too...one of the greatest choreographers of jackie chan team...seagal would be better if he stops trashtalking other actors and people...and if he leaves clubbers alone... One can always assume who they think would win in a fight . Some times assumptions are easy do to skill and experience . Other times it’s a fighters mental condition, fighters luck , the first one that makes the crippling strike
Aikido is a lot more dangerous then it appears to be.Most people who haven't studied martial arts will always believe that kicking is what martial arts is all about and its not.First of all I believe Seagal will have the upper hand in a street fight because his skills are not flashy like Sammos are and being in a street fight you need skills like Seagals over Sammos because first of all you can't see Seagal coming from a mile away in what he's about to do and Aikido was born on the battlefield and derived from the Samurai prewar art of Aikijujutsu and that's why in Seagal's earlier movie you can see these techniques being used are very dynamic and powerful and dangerous.
agree Seagal will win. He was mastering just for Aikido until 7th black belt before he went to the movie. I like Sammo movie a lot, but movie is a choreography, in a real street fighting Seagal has a better advantage
Built, strength, technique and speed need to be put in consideration when one faces an opponent. I believe both are about equal on the latter three, Seagal would have the advantage of built over Hung.

Sammo hung is fast,strong etc but Steven is always best.A lot of people are saying aikido is not effective on a street fight but believe it's the most effective and and can injure very bad if only the person practicing is fast enough like seagal and it's founder morihei sensei.A lot people have approached me myself and I tend to walk away not bcuz am scared of them but bcuz am saving their own skin.I know what I can do them and even hurt them really bad.So if Steven is walking away it's bcuz he doesn't want to hurt that person.Aikido is very dangerous on the street bcuz of its joint locks and deadly throws.

Those in the who grew up in 60s HK KNOW Sammo.had a lot of fighting experience in the piss poor streets of Hong Kong , massive contrast to that of today. That place was so poor and corrupt back then meant that if you died, too bad.
The difference between Seagal and Samo is that Samo actually knows and actually studies kung fu. Seagal kinda knows alido. Samo hung is also a contemporary of Jackie Chan. In fact he is Jackie Chan’s senior in the school that they studied. Samos kung fu was made specifically for entertaining also Steven Seagal is making his stuff up
Also in his younger day, him being the older boy used to beat the crap of Jackie in an interview I heard a few years ago Sammo mention this fact, plus he looked like he was reminiscing because he started to laugh about it, saying those were the good old days.
Your title for this video is quite misleading. More of a comparison than a VS. Both men are masters in numerous styles so how do you arrive at Aikido vs Kung Fu? What is your background and experience with any martial art that forms the basis of your opinions?
It all depends on how much they ate that day. Sammo Hung is kind of like Jim Belushi. I think Seagal has stuff alot of us are very unaware of. He's got like spetznas training and judo in russia with vladamir putin. Something happened there where Putin gave him a special award and citizenship or something. And he has this place where he holds his own tournaments. In japan. Then on his tv show he tried to paint this image of goofiness and like he wasn't intelligent. But he can speak like 5 languages and also has homes all over the world. He probably has something going on in India too because alot of people who go around the world investing invest in the textile stuff down there. So he's probably also in thailand. And he was training anderson silva. He knows mike tyson and has been in a few movies with him. So he has to know boxing and other arts. So if they knew about it ahead of time and Seagal jumps him. Maybe because he had the element of surprise. Hung would win if it was even. But it being even... that doesn't seem likely. So if they ever fought it would turn into something out of austin powers. I can see Seagal with a cat in a chair trying to take over the world with Putin on a zoom call with Quintin Terrintino.

I disagree that enter dragon was Samuel‘s big break like the announcer says here. Samo Hung was already very well-established in Hong Kong cinema and well known by American kung fu action adventure aficionados who watched his films over the year. Even though he didn’t know his name we called him that fat guy! Lol! The fact that he had build up a reputation was the reason why Bruce Lee chose him as an opponent it is films. Americans like to always think that they giving you your big break when actually the star is helping the American company to establish themselves.

Does anybody ever wonder why we only have that old rinky-dink footage of Seagal doing aikido when he was younger? Seagal does not have a black belt in Judo nor Karate. He has some training in them, that is not the same as a black belt. Seagal has never had a real fight, nor will he ever. That man couldn't pull the plug and fight the tide in the bath.
Steven really has black belt in karate,judo,kendo.In 2019 he got black belt 7 dan in Karate kekusin.He had many seminars with russian special forces.He is Head Instructor of Russian Aikido Feaderation.
@@zverev85 I don't for a single moment believe Seagal has a 7th dan in Kyokushin. Have you links to any governing bodies that awarded him his dan grades in Judo or Karate? Jon Bluming himself said that Seagal couldn't fight, so I don't see him giving Seagal a 1st Dan let alone a 7th. He's 7th in Aikido. I need sources for the Judo and Karate please.

Sammo Hung uses high kicks in the movie clips. Chuck Norris has stated that high kicks are useless in tournament fight. Steven Seagal would catch the leg in a high kick and it would be all over for Sammo Hung.

@@boonee8279 Low kicks are more effective , because they are more likely to land (because they are low they are difficult to deflect or absorb), they can be concealed easily under a combination of high punches, and because they are targeting the legs or the lower abdomen they can easily disrupt your opponent's balance.
@@boonee8279 Actually when Chuck Norris was world champion Karate (based on tournaments) he did use high kicks. He doesn't promote the high kick because a person can come under and kick the other leg disrupting the opponent's balance.
If the fight happened when they were BOTH in their prime, I strongly believe that it would be a tie, just as if Segal and Lee fought OR if Hung fought Lee...

I think Steven Seagal would win any match against Sammy Hung. Both he and Mr. Hung are fast with their punches, but Sensei Seagal has a longer reach both with his legs and his fists. Also, if he catches your fist or arm, his strong grip will not let you go. You’re done, good night.
You forgot that Sammo knows the way of Aikido fighting and grabing just an arm wouldn´t be enough to win against him. When Seagul thinks he got him by catching his arm there are still another arm and 2 feet that will fly at him. Sammo can move very strangely, like a snake and will hit devestating blows in close combat. Seagul should hold him on distance or he will get knocked out cold within seconds.
I don't think Seagal would fight sammo and if Seagal did fight he would most likely lose because of the height he has gained and I don't think he trains anymore
You shouldn't think. Martial art is always ready for the one who has been trained for number of years. They are trained to kill with their learned martial art skills.
