Great, Great job partner. I just go mine Monday and was definitely frustrated. You killed it bro, I had instantiated the plugin on every track so you saved a lot of mistakes, but I didn't know.

Hey, that level match bypass thing: I think you gotta compare it with the room volume and get em to match up, not just crank it up in bypass to a random value.

What’s up Coach! I would mix with them on from the beginning. Bring that you’ll be listening in a tuned room from the start, your end result will be that much better with less revisions needed.

You should put it on you "Listen Bus"...that way you don't have to bypass it when you print...!!!

hey that's pretty cool technology but I stick with my technology dont let other people tell you how your mix should sound just don't add any Reverb let the Reverb in the room work that's what a dynamic microphones for they help reflect those sounds IM SOLO I DONT WORK WITH OTHERS I like your video man you're doing a good job my saying used to go that you can have all the gear in the world its how do you use it because it takes the person the gear and then the output , I've been recording in a bedroom or room since 1987 because I always had my gear in my bedroom LOL im all PC now in BOX awesome video man Stay Creative DRMIX 2023

Headkrack! Quick question, i just got a pair of Slate VSX headphones and the audio levels coming out of my M Audio Air Hub 192 are just very low (VSX plugin is on the master track as instructed). However when i plug the VSX straight into my laptop directly (Macbook pro 2021 m1 max) i get WAY more gain than my M Audio Air Hub. I take it this is an issue with the Air Hub and not ableton correct?

So, are you still turning up the bypass and the output? I'm worried that when I export its hurting my mixes by not being the correct output level, I'm mostly using it for mastering right now

Good question! So in Pro tools, I create a mix bus, send every track there and put VSX on the master fader, that way the mix bus shows the “true” levels of the mix while the master fader is effected by VSX. In Studio One, I “enable listen bus” and put VSX on the listen bus so the master fader shows the “true” levels. Hope this helps.

Hi, new to this. when exporting do we disable VSX plugin? What if we actually like one of the room vibes and sounds on the song - can we leave it enabled? Thanks

It auto disables itself on export under settings. Click the cog wheel. What your hearing is a room emulation. It will not sound the same on all headphones and speakers so it’s best not to export with the emulation on.

should VSX this be the only plugin on the master or can I still use my standard master plugs?

You can still use your regular mastering chain, just make sure that VSX is the LAST plugin on the chain. This way everything before hand is running through VSX simulating the effect of being in the different environments.

You will still want your mastering chain on, VSX is just a room emulator.

Should it be disabled upon export? What if we like one of the room’s sounds and how it affects the final mix?

@@conduets4939 the point is to get your mix to translate, you'll need to switch it out. It's great if you like the sound of a room but it'll only be that room if you include that emulation into the final render. But, hey: TRY it. You never know ... (though I'll make an educated guess 🤭)

You learn a lot about your mix, moving a mix through the rooms lets you hear how it sounds in different environments. Seems to work pretty well. But you gotta learn the rooms now.

How would you compare this to the waves Abbey Road Studio 3???

I gave the Waves rooms a good go, and they are lots of fun! The presentation is a lot cooler than VSX, but in my case, I only got good results from CLA Nx. Nothing I did in Abbey Road 3 made any sense to me, but I plan to take some of my VSX mixes back through the Waves rooms just for kicks.

I use that Eq only in Systemwide mode, when I don’t have a mix up. That way, I can tweak the sound and get an idea for what I want to change while in “listening” mode. Take notes, defeat the Eq and open up the mix, and fix it.

Those were tracks not stems you've pointed out @ 3.53. Stems are a group of tracks bounced /printed into stereo files. I'm sure you know this too. the younger guys keep making these mistakes and it drives me up the wall. sorry for commenting this here. otherwise great vid with good energy! Piece!
