Steven Spielberg is someone special for me and so many people around the world, I wanted to quit being a filmmaker but whenever I think not only about Steven Spielberg but Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher those heroes I have.... that makes me continue in life

Yea I feel you! What do you do as a filmmaker now?

@@you_can_create To be honest I'm in a country which films aren't that "important" and there are just a few of us in our film school, we students make shorts with just a cellphone because buying a decent camera in here, Venezuela it's a toughie and if the school helps us the usually give us equipment and all of us do our best to make a path for ourselves..... But I believe I love films and I'm not planning on quitting, none of us

@K it's better to have the passion and then the equipment. Give us an update! I'm 17 and wanna be a movie maker too, however I don't have a lot of money so yeah. I'm just writing the script for now

@@mars4105 Keep it up, and please, just remember that life isn't easy and is not meant to be, otherwise the satisfaction would be tasteless, last month I lost someone I love so much, I wrote a 11 page script and I do hope it get elected by my film school.... Just remember to never give up....

@@MementoMoriXIII I appreciate your response brother. I'm really sorry for your loss. It can be really depressing and suck the passion out of everything you do, but please never give up. Continue to do your scripts. What's your script about? I'm really interested in reading people's scripts. At my school, very few of the students actually chose this program and the rest feel like they don't put any passion in it. I myself only wrote one script and it was 6 pages I believe. It was for school so you know how you have to rush things up. I'm doing another script but for me this time but I always get lost in details (and I absolutely love it). Anyways sorry I talked a lot about me. Please don't give up because it is passion like yours that shape the movies of tomorrow and there for the world.

Spielberg is an anomaly of his time - he definitely had innate talent, but his moment in history permitted him to stand out and be noticed, and be utilized. He emerged at a pivotal moment in American film evolution. The industry was more tolerant and accepting of independent and novel filmmakers, and the national culture was changing as well. Being a novice filmmaker at that time was difficult and rare, which meant less competition for being noticed. Today with the enormous accessibility of technology and audiences, it is far more difficult to be noticed and appreciated amidst the glut of independently created films, both features and short subjects.
