This is the first thing I ever heard from Steven and which led me to discover his entire back catalogue. Without doubt the most creative artist currently working. Happy Returns has me in tears every time.

Watching this video again, I really feel that the section of the animation where he steps into the void and holds his sister's hand is symbolic of him passing on and joining his sister in the afterlife. That's what it feels like to me.

Hello Jim, I had to gather my thoughts to share my opinion on this song and life in general. To quote Forest Gump, "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get". You posted this sad and touching song before the pandemic and before people started to die by the thousands. Mourning the dead and crying for your lost loved ones is part of life, even animals can feel loss, so it's not "silly" to share your feelings about it. Many times I think, who will cry for me if I die, because I live alone and don't have a family, I feel like an anonymous ant among many, insignifant name and number in the system. Last week in Quebec province, we had a "national funeral" for a popular and loved quebecer hockey player, maybe you've heard of him, Guy Lafleur. It made me reflect on death and human condition. Even if you're alone, surrounded by family, rich, poor, black white old young, popular or anonymous, death will take us all. One must enjoy life and be grateful for what we have, and people we meet along the way. Sometimes you meet people by accident and they become like a shining diamond in your dark days and make your life enjoyable! thanks for sharing this song and I will listen to the entire album for sur !

Steven Wislon : *"You Fool , this isn't even my final form!"* _raises you Routine_ No but seriously haha. This one puts a knot in your throat and makes you tear up. Routine literally rips your heart out of your chest and sends you into a corner to curl up into a ball and weep. Haha

and besides all emotions have you recognised the change of time with the key: 7/4 minor to 6/4 major. I think this is a subtile technique to create feeling in music. Great!
