This wouldn’t be so bad if he didn’t get so defensive when, the people who have loved him for years and held him down and truly know and care about him, correct him or point out that he made a mistake. It takes a big person to be able to see that people correcting bad behavior or pointing out a flaw isn’t to tear you down, but to help you grow as a person. To be the best you, you can be. Unfortunately, as long as his gigantic ego is in the way, he’ll keep making the same mistakes: Making bad decisions, cheating whenever he’s unhappy in a relationship, refusing to humble himself and be held accountable for his actions, etc. While faith didn’t immediately give in to Stevie, she still married him, knowing his heavy baggage. That last scene we watched is literally a foreshadowing of the next time he’s unhappy, he will jump to the next woman. That is his pattern. Listen, anyone who can’t be held accountable for their actions, but gets defensive, fights you, and/or tries to turn the tables on you is toxic!!! Have you ever met someone who, when you see that they are really messing up, you gently point it out to them, and they think about it. And actually takes your advice and adjusts. That is a good sign! That is a character trait that you want in the people in your life. Without Jesus and therapy, Stevie really can’t change. He will try, with everything he has. But you are who you are. Without powerful intervention, most people remain the same. Romance is nice. Who doesn’t want to be heavily pursued, romanced, wined and dined? It’s deeply flattering. It’s also usually the sign of a player. Most genuine guys will try to get to know you, and see if you are compatible. If you get the feeling that he needs you to be a better person, pay close attention to that! Do you want a husband or a child? Do you really need another project in your life?
