In 1981, six years after joining Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks went solo for the first time with her debut album ‘Bella Donna’. A massive success, it sold more than five million copies in the U.S., topped the album charts and produced four hit singles, including her signature anthem, "Edge Of Seventeen." More platinum albums followed - ‘The Wild Heart’ (1983), ‘Rock A Little’ (1985), and ‘The Other Side Of The Mirror’ (1989).
In 2019, Stevie Nicks made history by becoming the first female artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice - first as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998, and most recently in recognition of an extraordinary solo career that spans nearly 40 years.

Captivating imagery and so very indicative of my “Sister-of-the-Moon.” When a witch is feeling low & uninspired, she turns to Stevie Nicks’ videos to pull her up, give her a breath of fresh air, and remind her who she is.

She did not write this because of Twilight. Most of this song was written in the early days, life on the road with Fleetwood Mac. It was Twilight that inspired her to return to the recording studio and this song was just slightly tweaked to fit the additional narrative of Twilight. Stevie builds layer upon layer, always. This is what makes her songs timeless.

It's only partly that. The first and third verses were written in the 1970s/80s. The song was called "Lady from the Mountains" and never finished or formally recorded though you can find demos on RU-vid. The second verse, fourth verse, and the chorus were written after watching New Moon. It all fits together to make a fantastic song.

You are joking! She does the worst album of her career and the thing sells far more than it should. UK188 and US#210 was where it deserved to really go! She's an American and as such will always be granted far more leniency than any brilliant UK or Europe singer from the best decade-the 80s. Kim Wilde, for instance, doesn't even get UK releases in her own country any more, Sandra, who's German, her last album was a masterpiece her fans she'd never make again since her slit from Enigma man Michael Cretu, Kirsty MacColl is prematurely dead and forgotten, I could go on. Even the few times the Americans have decent artists-they don't appreciate them. Bangles last album was a million times better than the pukey "In Your Dreams" and yet it has to land over a hundred chart places behind it. Stevie is past 60, she's had years of being lucky, she cannot expect to gain anything near the placements she had yonks ago, and is damn lucky she gets any attention with an album as crap as "In Your Dreams" with barely 3 decent songs on it. Her future with Fleetwood Mac is the only lucrative way forward-no wonder she's touring with them. I see no record that this was a single, but it IS the best song by some way after 'Secret Love' from that thing, and what was she thinking, releasing that 'What Its Worth' crap, soundless, tuneless garbage as a second single? How can you get that wrong-on an album with only 2 truly perfect songs on it. Kris, Stevie has it lucky. The great Kim Wilde, Kirsty MacColl, Sandra, Shakespears Sister, Bangles do not, and Maggie Reilly's last release was way better to. Americans like Ste, Cyndi Lauper and the crap ones held in high regard-Tina Turner Chaka Khan, Madonna slag queen, Celine Dion, Pariah Carey, Janet Michael Jackson-they ALL have it easy, cos they're so God damned interchangeable, unimportant and past-it. America loves routine. Sadly the UK always has to copy as the suck-ups we are.

I will always like Stevie, but I think artists don't always get it right, and after six good albums, along a fair amount of good material never put on record-of which much is up on youtube now, she lost it with this one, but I'll never stop listening to her, just giving a break for the moment, but she has outlasted many others. Cheers, Kris, good times!

My 40-plus-year love of Stevie is only augmented by songs of hers such as this. As she grows older and still retains her beauty, her lyrics grow longer and draw you into their complexity. To see her live as I have several times, you become ensnared in a dark web; she is riveting, compelling, and at times sinister, until she reverts back to the light. Black or white, may it never be extinguished. It's lovely to see Waddy along with violin virtuoso Ann Marie Calhoun; all in this video form a most intriguing family ... owl especially.

If anyone knows Stevie Nicks, this song is about a book that was written about 100 years ago. It's a love story that went wrong. In this world,some people hold's onto love and wait's. Other's give into their desire and forget's what true love is all about.Why it was played slow was because, when love is hurt deep inside.Sorrow set's in, a pain that paralyzes you deep inside. I think she did real good on this song.

Of all the wonderful songs on the "In Your Dreams" album (2011), this is the one that hooked me from the very first time I listened to the full album. As I found out in the documentary, and as I could feel listening to the song and watching this official video, it turns out this is the song that is the most personal of all, the one that Stevie connected with the most (while connecting wonderfully with the rest of the songs of the album, mind you). Anyone ever read how "Twilight" helped her finish this song? Its about her and Lyndsay and Bella and Edward, or so she said in an interview that I read. She started writing way back in the late 70's. I find the symbology interesting though. Edgar Allan Poe, Vampires, 3 witches (a blonde, brunette and red head), Dave (he's just weird), candles, an owl, Waddy Watchel (who is amazing), children, fog, people fading in and out, and tons more. One day when I have time I'm going to apply Jungian psychology to this song and figure out all the symbols.

Alura Lapierre Paradise painting on the stairwell, crystal chandelier, black / white piano's, forests, white horse, time reversing, mirrors, etc... More symbols in this video that just meets the eye. And it is an amazing piece of work. I have a strong feeling every picture / scene has a meaning. Love you Stevie!
@SerafinDrake

+Alura Lapierre - At least SOMETHING good came out of the literary abomination that was Stephenie Meyer's writing, then. :) I was originally interested in seeing the video to the song because it happened to be the music of Stevie Nicks and had the word "vampire" in it, and the Twilight references were something I just figured I had to grit my teeth through and endure, but your referencing of Jungian archetypes suddenly made the visual elements interesting after all.

+IMCassia I agree. I listened to this because Stevie Nicks is amazing. But Twilight was simply the WORST book series I've ever read. It was absolutely atrocious! Now, this is a visual reprsentaion worthy of Stevie's fantastic performing. I had seen the online trailer for "In Your Dreams", and couldn't stop watching it. The ending even made me cry (at least, the first three ?) times). "In Your Dreams" is one of Stevie's best albums". For those who don't already own it, you're missing out. I am so happy the full-length video of this was released. I'd love to see all of them strung together. This one deserves to be shown on the big screen at the movies.

The first time I heard this song on this fabulous album I was completely taken with the piano music in the beginning and then you start to hear the lyrics and the way they start out and you know this song is going to be another one oh her many, many extraordinary songs. For me it’s a very, very beautiful song and very deep to my heart and then I see and watch the video and I just wanttodive in it and join all of the wonderful artist that are in th he video. I saw her sing this song at her last solo concert and of course I was elated. It was one of my favorite concerts because she was also joined with the very talented and beautiful Chrissy Hynde. It was a show stopper. Thank you .😔🌻😘🦆

Stevie Nicks in a 1994 interview said: Details: Now that you're forty-six, how are you dealing with your sex symbol status? Stevie Nicks: I have no illusions. When I'm sixty years old I'll still be writing songs and singing them. But will someone in the audience say, "Gee, what a sexy older lady-babe she is"? I doubt it. I mean, get a life, you know? If physical beauty is the only reason people buy my records, then I don't know why I'm doing this. One of our managers once yelled at me: "If you don't lose twenty pounds, your career is over." I told him I didn't need him in my life anymore. I would prove my career wasn't over. (laughs) Then ... I lost the twenty pounds!
